Hi AB, thanks for the comps!!

I will be starting a new show soon, I will start a grow journal, one with some imporvements to the existing system, I will stagger the shelves a little, like canadian cracker, I am going to panda film the floor, the ceiling and all 4 sides, I am going to pinch off the tops of 1/2 of the veging plants to see if more shoots will increase yield and utilize the space better, because anywhere you can see black pot means wasted light.

Ive read that more plants = more possible yield re: gpw/month anyone have anything to say otherwise?

Because Im going to lower the plant count by 16 this time going from 80 down to 64
I couldnt squeeze the extras out of my moms this time.

Very nice setup. I like the idea of topping them before flipping.

By the way on the "rotating the plants like a microwave," think about that for a sec. I've thought about it, too, but it doesn't make any sense. The light angle would remain the exact same, because the single light is in the center of the rotation.
Now running the bulb up and down vertically like with a light mover, that's a good idea. Someone here is doing it, I can't remember who, though. They are using a standard light mover and hooked up a pulley system. Very clever...

Hmm but what about rotating each plant individually instead of the entire shelf.

I'm switching my entire setup to vert and really doing my homework. I am thinking a 8x16" room with 2 areas with 3k worth of vertical light.

You mentioned that your shelves are 22" from the light. I gotta assume your room is 4-5' in width, how long is it?. Can you give me some insight on optimal width sizes. could your room be wider if you wanted and still get good yeilds... maybe more? I ask because I have seen 2 nice setups where the width of the room was 8'... with the shelving the plants are atleast 30" away from the bulb.

From my research I think with vert style setups a little more veg time can go a long way. There are members like krunchbubble with rooms twice your size and only 40 plants harvesting 12lbs without co2. I am not 100% sure but I think I read he throws his plants into bloom @ 16-18"... again don't quote me.

With my next and first vert setup I plan to veg for one month. Plan is to harvest one side of the room(8x8 area) once a month... should give my rooted clones at least a month to veg.

Really looking forward to your final numbers with the added co2. You gonna blow past the 2lbs per 1000 mark... no doubt.

So how do you like the ice boxes? I have never used them and really have no clue how they work. I assume this is the only way your keeping your temps down? care to explain quickly how these ice boxes work... they look interested and I assume don't need a lot of electricity to run?

any insight is much appreciated... I am a total noob at vert setups and there is so little information on this website regarding vert grows.

:thanks:

Ive seen those as well, Green basturd had an 8 x 8 room and he used it all up, where as I do my work from the outer diameter of this setup, I wanted to keep the lumens as strong as possible.

I am pretty sure I can only expect to get better yields as i travel happily along and learn more day by day.

They work awesome, the only electritity I use is for a pump, its about 3.5 amps, my a/c is like 13.5, I use it as a dehum in the summer time, I havent had any RH issues this winter, steady at 45-50 rh

Looking Bodhi Roach, 3.75 for first run is pretty darn good but im willing to bet you could yield more once dialed in.

Keep up the great work, hopefully my op is going to be as good as yours.

Cheers.

I am to lazy to click on the pics does anyone know the FF extensions that auto opens them? I usually only see the pics that people host then post and never bother with attached ones but this site runs rampant with attached ones. I would love to see all these pics

Nice set up & growBodhi,

I see what you mean by wasted light hitting the black pots.... What's the distance between the top of the pot on the lower level and the top of pot on level above?

I am kinda confused, but it's probably the cannolope haze :D CAn you tell me the dimensions of the actual shelves please? I note you say your room is 8x8 but in another post someone says the light is 22" away from plants (which I read is optimal for 1000w & 600w). From that post I assumed your shelves were 4x4 but I'm probably tripping!

Love it man, do yo thang! Trying to make the switch to vert myself, on a rush schedule (never a good idea), and this thread helps alot with ideas on spacing.

Going to try to drop down from 3x 600 flat to 2x600 vertical, in a 5'x5'x7' space (3x6s were in a 5' w x 9' d x7' h). Planning 3 levels, with 3 gal square pots, basically a square layout with the 600s stacked in cooltubes. About 18" between shelves, using the bottom of prop/clone trays (perfectly holds 2 botanicare 3gal sq) as my runoff/drain tray on each shelf, plumbed with a drain fitting on the end and all dumping to interconnected waste buckets, with a float operated sump-pump in one of the buckets.

We just harvested the flat garden, and I've probably spent 20hrs since then trying different configurations and trying to scheme a cheap/easy/portable shelf and drain system. After about 5 different mock-up models, think I've finally settled on something.

thanks for the kudos, havent been here in a while, shutting down the shop for good. time to move on. last pull was just under 5k grams on 2 sxs rooms. its a shame to quit after it was just starting to dial in, I bet i could get 12 with a better strain,

good luck and be safe
