I dont know whats worse! All the negativity about movin to Cali like its movin to Baghdad or the racists comments from others. One thing we def. dont need is anymore ignorant dicks talkin bout niggas and welfare reform!! If you are poor and uneducated why not move to Cali and do it here? Its the same pain and shame of being poor as in Indiana or Arkansas and you can do it by the beach. If you have employable skills you can work anywhere, even Cali people. So that holds no water. I may not be able to live in Sonama co. over looking vinyards and shit, but my neighbothood is no ghetto either. Life is too short to be scared! How you think all these rich fools ended up rich? Half made their loot in the coke game in the 80's and the other half did it by comin to Cali and getin theres in other ways! Get yours or watch somebody else get it!!

Do Re Mi

Lots of folks back East, they say, is leavin' home every day,
Beatin' the hot old dusty way to the California line.
'Cross the desert sands they roll, gettin' out of that old dust bowl,
They think they're goin' to a sugar bowl, but here's what they find
Now, the police at the port of entry say,
"You're number fourteen thousand for today."

Oh, if you ain't got the do re mi, folks, you ain't got the do re mi,
Why, you better go back to beautiful Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee.
California is a garden of Eden, a paradise to live in or see;
But believe it or not, you won't find it so hot
If you ain't got the do re mi.

You want to buy you a home or a farm, that can't deal nobody harm,
Or take your vacation by the mountains or sea.
Don't swap your old cow for a car, you better stay right where you are,
Better take this little tip from me.
'Cause I look through the want ads every day
But the headlines on the papers always say:

If you ain't got the do re mi, boys, you ain't got the do re mi,
Why, you better go back to beautiful Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee.
California is a garden of Eden, a paradise to live in or see;
But believe it or not, you won't find it so hot
If you ain't got the do re mi.

I've lived in SD for over 30 years and what SoCaliSmoker says is true.

You may even be able to make it work (doubtful) but you're gonna be livin in some shit-hole in some shit part of town. So while you may be barely makin it, you won't be "livin'" just surviving and you'll only be able to continue to survive and NEVER actually be living in Rancho Sante Fe or La Jolla in some multi-million dollar home.

You'll always just be chasing your tail.

I'm sorry everyone!

I'm feelin the vibes, I didn't want the thread to get under anyones skin. You guys are all cool peeps, no disrespect to anyone fellaz! Not my intentions at all

cali is so flooded with growers its ridiculous, prices have plummeted because of it and it wont get much better if any. it really is nothing like it was even 2 years ago, prices have been cut close to 25%. just look on bay area craigslist and type in prop 215 to get a small sense of whats going on.
notice though that clubs are still at $60 an eighth?
tell you the honest truth, im thinking of another state to do my thing........:tree:

Damn cuzz, you can get Jackd any where and those expenses are anywhere you go too. You act like cali's the only place where these risks are, but in fact they are everywhere, especially when we do what we do. California is a beautiful place, people, weather, laws....i could go on...but to tell people not to come here is retarded. you're doing to much homie, stay to your own. Grow better weed. The streets are cold everywhere pimp, act accordingly.

I've looked at the same thing too. It goes back to the thread about "who do I know?" I could realistically (because of money and a business plan) decide to move operation, and take the knowledge of growing with me, but how would I get rid of it once its harvested?

Who do I know and how can I get rid of this fire weed without someone snitching on me, or trying to jack me? For the states that don't have it good, they pay top dollar for their weed. It's crossed my mind too man...

should be able to tell in about 10, 15 minutes whether the person you are meeting is likely to pull some shit. The stash is yours. Just move with enough to survive without the dope so you don't smell desperate. Buy something cheap and if the dope game works out, then do the add-ons as you go.

When the ball is in your court you can be picky. If you've got the general intelligence and street smarts of a normal adult it shouldn't be that hard. Shit could go down and you could misread people, sure. But what are you gonna do, sit in your house, unsatisfied wondering what if?

Most Americans are only half-alive anyway, basically just treading water until their card is pulled. Let's be real here.

Take a chance.

that's right come to the real world

that's right come to the real world

come on and bring those set up with you . we dont have hydro shops on every corner and for some reason the cops just like to sit in the parking lot of the one we have . Come to the real world where you can get great prices on your fire weed ! Just dont think you will not pay for it in the long run !!!

Growing in a non med state completely different than a med state we have alott more concerns with or ops . we cant even let a roach hit the trash can around here . Getting rid of trash oh thats fun sneaking around trying not to get caught before you get to a spot you can unload it . Setting up shop and trimming all that smoke by your self because you dont need or want anyone to know .and so on

Jail time is double outside your world med cards don't mean shit !!!
when you get out of jail and have to stay instate so you can pay off your court fines usually 100,000 or better while reporting to your court appointed asshole for 24 months and paying him every time you see him .
work will be fun after that too 7.75 an hour or min wage cause you are a ex con, get your 40 hours a week in live in a halfway house cause you cant get a lease with anyone . go get your check to see how much you made or should i say see how much they are going to let you keep after the garnishment of the wages for court fines .
taking the bus cause your drivers lisc is suspended cause you still owe court fines . (get caught driving on a suspended lisc and on parole back to jail no questions asked )
I will gladly swap places with ya come on to my neck of the woods its called real life

And all this stuff about prices come on your crying cause you have to much herb to get rid of ( boo hoo I have too much pot) and cant get top dollar this is funny to me cause even at 2000 an lb you are still making profit !!!!!!!

Get real come to my neck of the woods . I will gladly come to your Dreamland!!

See, even if many of us disagree I think this still turned out to be a great thread. Different experiences on all sides so a would be California transplant can digest it all and make a decision.

SouthernSmoker, I think, encapsulates it. Yeah it's not like it was 5 years ago where any ole' dummy growing mediocrity could land a small fortune. Now it's more akin to a real business.

Before pot growing was fantasy land-really, really hard to mess up. A little niche underground society.

Now it's more like starting your own business in the Real World. There is actual competition.

cali will always be cali... worry about yourselves and all is well. Live happily.. any sensible person can figure out on their own if anything is worth doing in life. Some have to fail to see it for themselves.. and the winners... well they are WINNERS

I mean for example:
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/apa/1516768442.html

700 a month, drivable to the beach, in what I consider to be heaven on earth, Imperial Beach.

Get a couple 4x8 tents going, 1K watts each, bam. You ain't taking over the world, but you're surviving with enough left over for the little things if you're any good. If you fuck up or get mites or something, man up and go down to McDonalds. Don't ask for a resume ask to speak to the manager, and dress nice. You'll land eventually. You'll survive until your next harvest.

Why is that considered so out of this world difficult, financially or otherwise? I guess I'm just a low class boy satisfied too easy, is that it? Do you guys find 1 bedrooms and studio's unsatisfactory? Perhaps our difference in taste and what it means to have a good quality of life is the root of the disagreement here?

Quality of life is subjective, very much so. What may be fine for you would be impossible for others. Doesn't make you lower class, we all have different standards and ideas. ;)

1 bedroom studios aren't enough for everyone no, many have families, pets, and frequent houseguests. Bigger houses mean higher payments, more cleaning, repairs, and more electricity.

Most people need a car to get around, which means gas, insurance and repairs. I spend about $300 a month on gas, and neither me nor my wife drive much. We've put 10K miles on each our cars in 5 years. Insurance is another couple hundred a month, plus $500 a year in registrations.

Shit, just with my rent, power, and the very few bills above, I need almost $3K a month. McDonalds you can bring home $300 a week, so it's only a couple grand shy, before adding food, phone bills, cable, credit cards, car payments, and garbage service. Don't forget to budget for clothing, entertainment, haircuts and grow supplies too.

I don't go on vacations, I don't have any fancy cars or toys, the only really nice thing I have is my tv, but even that was done slowly over years of upgrading. I don't know anybody who I think is rich, because in my opinion rich means being able to buy things without considering their cost.

Losing a harvest can be bad, or it can be reallly bad. Having savings helps that, but I basically lost two harvests in a row so that's all gone.

I was born & raised in Cali, lived half my life in the midwest...Spent some time in cali couple of months ago, Nice!!! I was born in stockton & St. Louis crime rate is 2 times as high as stockton. Anybody with a brain can make it work...

Just WOW. Perhaps you might make enough to move to Palm Ave. You'd really be livin then. lol

just WOW.
Meh, I love Imperial Beach. Bohemian in a sense.

It ain't Orange County but it ain't East Oakland, either. Don't present yourself like a bitch and you're fine.

Different strokes.
