I'll have to say that's a real downer. But I have to admit all the people out there who ruined it for everyone, they know who they are. Talk about a gold rush... criminals just came running from everywhere. So now we have to deal with this.

I don't mind regulation of the dispensaries, but my biggest fear is that legitimate patients and caregivers won't be able to interact productively on a small scale, privately.

Either way, I'm done being involved with this until it's been straightened out. It's kind of turned into a joke, when I think it should be taken very seriously. I'm done growing for a while anyways. Not in this legal climate, no thanks.

It seems to be that there is a rather simple solution to all this mess. I know it will make all you dispensary growers moan and groan, but.........

Why not make dispensaries illegal. There is no provision for them, they are not even mentioned, in the state amendment.

If dispensaries were made illegal, the state could somehow put patients and caregivers in contact with each other. Then patients and caregivers in Colorado could proceed IN THE MANNER intended by the voters here in Co.

What we have here are grey area profiteers fucking up the system for those the program was created for.

The state acts like every patient buys from a dispensary. I have 22 patients myself, and a majority of them could not afford to solicit a dispensary for meds.



I think I will email Romer and fill him in........

I believe it is a sticky situation similar to the possession and plant count limits that were struck down by the California Supreme Court last week.... the legislature in CA had modified the medical marijuana law way back in 03, and their violation of the constitution was effectively practiced for six years until the court fixed that last week as unconstitutional.

IMHO Mr. Romer wants his name in the paper. This bill in it's current form does not stand a chance of passage, especially considering the outrage and public protest we have shown towards other proposed changes over the last year. And as Ragga pointed out, they cannot amend the Co Constitution without public vote. They can (I believe, correct me if I am wrong) only further define what the amendments language is supposed to mean. If they attempt some sort of draconian measures, I hope they are ready for the shit storm coming their way.

If caregivers are growing legally, under 100 plants for safety, you're looking at 240 gardens starting up each day to keep up with patient numbers.
Also won't this guy be up for re-election eventually?

If you read any other articles about this it's ridiculous what romer actually knows about the industry.
One article I read he talks about the high prices of mmj and how any caregiver could make as much as 7000$ a month easily, what he fails to realize is the way the plant count is set up it makes it nearly impossible to provide enough medicine for a patient year round. to come up with the #'s he's speaking of, you would have to have 15-20 or so plants per patient...not including clones or mothers and that's also with very minimal veg time. These guys should seriously stick to what they are good at...Oh wait they don't seem to be very capable of doing much but wasting tax payer dollars.

i just sent romer a loooong email. and a couple of feeler emails to my local reps to find their position on the proposed legislation. When romer comes back for election his opponent may be getting some healthy contributions from a few people whou wouldn't normally contribute.

Colorado is a very diverse state. Some areas are very conservative and others are the polar opposite. You really cant lump the entire state into a category and say its conservative or liberal. For example Breckenridge just passed a law allowing people to have MJ under an OZ without even MMJ. Then you have Colorado Springs which has the main campus for Focus on the Family as well as 5 major military institutions.

As far as this bill goes from what I understand changes can not be made to the constitution without voter approval. This is why every election there are provisions to remove old/obsolete items from the constitution. They can try to regulate things but I think they are going to have a big fight on their hands.. I have not read the proposed bill but adm 20 gives me the right to grow my own plants point blank. That is all I care about. I am not in this fight to make money. I am in this fight so I can enjoy my life the way I want to without the worry the metro task force is going to come kick down my door.

Wrong. It does not change the Amendment, it only puts laws in place on how it can be distributed. The Senate meets in January at which time Romer will introduce this bill and it will be voted on by THE SENATE.

From what I understand the whole medical cannabis community in California did okay during this time. Patients got their meds, dispensaries flourished, and growers had plenty of work and got paid.

I agree that these situations popping up must be handled, but they are not going to derail the overall trend.

Besides some of the stuff that they include specifically to harass and punish growers, look at what is being proposed by this bill. Chiropractors, registered nurses, physical therapists and optometrists distributing medicinal cannabis without a license? How many more of these health professionals are there versus dispensaries? This is truly the floodgates being opened.

The law enforcement oversight stuff is impossible. They don´t even have that kind of surveillance in the few pharmaceutical factories manufacturing real narcotics. How on earth do they think they can do it in hundreds or thousands of gardens?

Just keep on keeping on, make a lot of noise when crap like this bill comes up, and things will work out just fine. The trend is our friend.

My take on all of the political ´solutions´ is that they seem to be aimed at the ´problem´ of dispensaries. In almost every one they say something like Romer has said that the goal is to close 50% of the dispensaries.

I have downloaded the bill but haven´t read all of it and I haven´t seen anything about limiting personal production. In fact, I haven´t heard anything about it at all in any of the most recent bills or CDPHE b.s.

It´s sort of funny that they want to close dispensaries and heavily monitor the remaining ones, ram a microscope up the growers´ asses and make it as difficult as hell to stay legal, then they want to permit thousands of ´legit´ health professionals to offer medicinal cannabis without any licensing whatsoever.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. You folks are not listening. It does not have to be voted on by the people for the governor to write the changes into law. They are not amending the constitution, they are proposing a bill that would change the legality of sales/growing/distribution/taxes etc. The bill will be brought before the house in Feb, then it will go to committee where the people can speak, then the senate will vote on it and if it passes the Governor will write it into law.
