Bare Bones grow box

What up fellas. Not sure if this counts as a micro grow but I'm making a 3x2x3 foot grow box, its not complete and would like to get some ideas on how you would set it up here are the supplies that I already have.

okay 011.JPG
3'L x 2'W x 3'H just have to seal it up and attach locks. I love left over plywood.

okay 005.JPG
This is an exhaust manifold I made. There is a 5" fan that will sit in the large end of the manifold while the back of the fan is exposed to the inside of the grow box to vent out hot air.

okay 008.JPG
The smaller end of the manifold connects to a 3.5" hose with ventilation door in between, this way I can manage the amount of heat that leaves the box without changing the fans speed.

okay 012.JPG
The larger fan is for exhaust and the smaller for intake.
All these materials I found around the house, besides the bulbs I have spent nada... zero... zilch.

I'm thinking of just painting the inside box flat white opposed to Mylar. I'm still not sure how I should hand the four cfl's. As well as where to put the carbon scrubber, in or outside of the growbox.
I was looking around the forum and found some great ideas. One of these being ScrubNinja's angle light proof vents:

What would you do?

Hey Joe! Good plan, my man. I just want to let you know the big fan (blue blades) is probably not going to be up to the job. Never say never of course, you may be happy with it, but it seems like a poor choice for the job. Axials don't tend to push much pressure, and I don't think you'd get much out of that one, due to how it's not sealed. May be better utilized blowing on your bulbs or something?

Yeah I've been thinking about that fan, haha. Even if it was able to pull the air out ,I don't know how long it would last without buring out. It is an old fan that lasted through my college days, haha.

Take a look a this though. I found a Hurricane 300 Ionizing Air Blower for $50 on criagslist in my area, the thing retails for $1,200.00:
http://www.yourcleanroomexperts.com/hurricane-300-ionizing-air-blower.aspx

I looked up the specs it says it will blow 110-300 cfm do you think that would be a better setup for an exhaust fan going into a homemade air scrubber?

Yeah the box is not sealed yet but once I get every thing I need then I'm going to screw all those sides together and hit the corners and edges with wood caulking.

Oh yeah... props on the angle vent, thats some genius engenuity! I'd like to show you how my imitation turn out once the whole fan situation is solved.

Sure thing festivus, I should have some more picks up tonight of my lighting. Although, after looking at all the other designs mine seems to be a bit shabby, but I'll wait to see what you and more experienced fellows have to say. Oh yeah and remeber... I found all the stuff you see from around the house so far.

Its probably time to stop being incredably cheap from now on if I want to get the job done. You see guys, I had a dream, and everything in that dream was free :^) Ever have that one? haha.

Thanks stonedu. Yeah yoda is the man because he always talks in backwards riddles, haha.
Here are some cfl's I recently purchased from from Home cheapo:

okay 010.JPG
The soft whites (green pack) were $6.47
Day lights(blue pack) were $4.00.
Timer was $6.00 and those black bulb sockets were $3.27 per.

good 014.JPG
I found these just laying in a closet, its a waste if I don't use them.

okay 009.JPG
Specs for the cfl's. Day light for veg and soft white for flouring

good 015.JPG
Specs for the regular florescent shown above. I'll use these for veg as well and I'm thinking about mounting them on the side of my box. I read somewhere that if you put light on the side of the plant it helps the vegetation grow out (horizontal) causing a bush like development. Have you guys ever heard of that?

Yeah mate side lighting will do that. If you look up the high-pod grow, it's a good example. In fact I think that was all side lighting. Don't be scared to use other spectrums in flower. I notice your veg bulbs have more watts so throw one or two in and see what you think. I did, and cycled them around and got way frosty buds. Actually, just noticed your fluoro tubes are daylight spectrum so they'd be good for that.

The black pump is on the right side of the picture. The pump pushes 300 gallons/hour at 1'. I pulled it out of an old water garden.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for the support guys.
It is not the best box on the web but I sure am enjoying the build.
I want to grow some basil and broccoli to start, just so I can get used to growing with hydroponics.

Oh yeah check out my handy PH tester:

Organic seeds... I did not know non-organic ones existed:

A better picture of the pump. I never thought I would used this again... until now:

I will keep you updated, hopeful more often.

P.S. let me know if the pictures are showing up okay
