Family Man so the choice of taking outside of the Living quarters is obvious.

My other half is worried about buying another house,
I am looking for cheap houses usually foreclosed in not so great neighborhoods.( $8k - $15)
She is scared of this. I feel like its totally safe and legit if you make the right choices.
Ideally i would like a secluded house far back on its lot with no neighbors. <- Not likely

Semi run down neighborhood, not like gun fights and hookers and all that.
Just typical lower class neighborhood.

Something i can preferably enter from garage in back alley.

Or build a Pole Bar on my property, Seperate Bills,
Fenced in back yard, plenty of room to build any sized barn.

Depends where you live. In California, this is what you get for $8K - $15K

Not even close to cali, about 30 hours drive.
You can get Plumbing, electric, Gas.
Decent house.
Full basement, 3 bedrooms. 1000 - 1500 Sq ft possibly garage and decent yard for 8 to 15K here.
Same house
In a nice neighborhood in recession about 50K.
In a great neighborhood in recession 80k.

Kid's are nosy, ideally i think it would be best to keep your operation on your own property, but i think in your scenario a grow house somewhere would probably be your best bet as long as you can find something with a little privacy.

if you can built in on your property with out raising eyebrows do it.. remember "no one has money" these days so make sure you make it look right nothing to sketchy...

From different articles I've read, to me:

The best choice for a medicinal cannabis family man or medicinal professional:

is to rent preferably a house. If the landlords don't even live near enough to check on the house but on few occasions, even better. Then have your better half as sole owner of your TRUE family home. And following logic, have your name solely on the rental. One family man in Britain or America did exactly this. Also, the landlords knew the place was a fixer upper, and didn't care whether they did any improvements, they had a go ahead. So the guy set up fake walls and concealable storage place for the cannabis. He and his wife went all out to make the place look like from the curb that people were actually living there. Sofa, TV, curtains, outdoor windows shutters that were always open, the whole nine yards.

A guy in NYC went all out with concealable storage space and fake walls in his only house.

Question for anybody out there, how do I give reputation points to another member?

So in short, fake walls are groovy...

Always be concerned on protecting your assets, they like to take grow houses away. Heavily mortgaged is the way to go or renting if you can work something out.

So, do you really want to spend your days hanging in a low class neihborhhod?Or at Home,in your new shop?
Seems like an easy choice to me.Pole Barn...Raise the roof:tree:

My choice would be a barn built over a buried shipping container, nice stable temps and easy to conceal.

A grow house in a run down area is a bit risky imo, more chance of everything getting ripped, extra money spent on security, extra risk in transporting materials or finished product.

Either way i hope you staf safe and free which ever one you decide on.

Good luck.

I grow in a 3-car garage/barn right now, it pretty much sucks. You would have to insulate the CRAP out of it, install a vapor barrier, and run power and water to it. You'll need a concrete floor, preferably with drains. Bugs find all sorts of ways in still, and dealing with a freeze or a heat wave is a nightmare. If you build it very carefully it could be done, but there has to be an easier way. It certainly won't be cheap.

if i could buy a house for 8-15k i would blow that shit out!

but here in cali the cheapest you can find a 3 bdroom in the shittiest neighborhoood in east oakland is like 100k and it will be a POS.

me and some friends are looking into renting a warehouse and dividing up the SQ ft for our own little grow rooms..

My next venture will be a pole barn, within 2010 I should be moving full speed ahead on it. Better to keep your shit close to home man, easier to take care of and keep an eye on.

Yeah, there are factors.
Drawing attention i'm on about 2 acre lot, each neighbor has about the same amount.

I think building a Pole Barn would draw unwanted attention like someone mentioned earlier.

My objective is to take it out and away from the family so if anything ever happened its only my ass and my other half and children can claim innocence.

Regardless of what i decide, i keep finding myself drawn to the idea of buying another house.
Running water, Plumbing, Heating, Gas, its already built and ready to go.
Moving into a house is way less attention then building a Pole Barn and waiting for everyone to get used to seeing it there.

Im also looking at cost.

Building a pole barn isnt cheap, Laying concrete isn't cheap
Plumbing and electrical are gonna COST BIG TIME!

Where i could go right now, LITERALLY take $10k and buy a Low Cost house and start, throw up a privacy fence buy a few guard dogs.
Hook up cams and be done.

I see a few people mention renting, but i don't like the idea of renting too much power is given to the landlord.

A pole barn causing unwanted attention? Its not that big of a deal, no one suspects anything when someone puts up a polebarn lol. I wouldn't put all mt eggs in a basket chillin all alone in a lower income neighborhood, they would rob you for 10 daollars let alone some weeeeeed plants. I understand you are trying to keep it all on you if something goes down, thats smart. But regardless, you could lose everything you own anyways so your family will be involved no matter what. Having it close to home will allow you to keep a good eye on it, and you will have a better chance of knowing about any heat that comes your way. I would protect my investment, plants are replaceable but damn if someone ganked all my equipment I would be up shit creek.

I think a new neighbor in a lower income neighborhood who purchased a house, through up a fence and put guard dogs there would be more noticable then a pole barn on a 2 acre lot. Especially since you will not be there very much and you probably drive a decent vehicle so more noticable when you come and go. Pole barn pole barn pole barn!
