Thai Stick Sativa & Original Haze

This grow is Thai Stick Sativa by Gypsy Nirvana and Original Haze by way of Seedsman. I have seen a few finished plants of original Haze but I have never seen a completed Thai Stick Sativa. TSS was said to be an 11-14 week strain and Original Haze is a 14 week strain. Well they are both at 17 weeks now. 2 weeks of 12/12 and 15 weeks of 11/13. I only vegged about a week before I flipped them so that might have extended the flowering time.

Hell I started these seeds back on April 4th. I figured I would have some 3-4 week cured Haze and Thai for Christmas or New Years. I still might harvest but it won't be cured much. LOL!

I started 4 seeds of each and ended up with 3 male and 1 female O. Haze and had 1 male thai and 1 female thai. 2 Thai seeds never germed.

They were vegged under florescent tubes (shoplights) and flowered under a 400w HPS. During veg they didn't like being watered much. They were happiest with the pots light as a feather. I was also light on the ferts. They also seemed to like being in the corners or the sides of the grow closet and not right under the light.

Here are some seedling shots. The Original Haze all had typical very thin sativa leaves. The Thai had some broader leaves than expected but some research revealed that Thai do have some broader looking leaves.

Here are a few more seedling pics. The Thai is bigger mostly because it popped the soil first. The O. Haze were a few days behind. You can see the thinner leaves on the O. Haze.

Here they are after about 2 weeks under 12/12. The Thai and 2 O. Haze were tied over LST and one O. Haze was topped. Then I put the light at 11/13. It has been 11/13 for a week and the side branches have grown now and they are bushier but no flower's yet.

The Thai is the larger one on the left and is the individual pic. Then the 3 O. Haze and the last pic is all of them tied or topped. I didn't feed them at all for the first 3 weeks and have just given them weak ferts.

Here are some picks about 7 or 8 weeks into flower. They are just staring with flowers. This is where I decided to use pollen from the males to pollenate a Chem D, the White and So. Cal M.K.

The male Thai was culled and the male O. Haze were taken out of the flower room and put on a desk just getting fall window light. They did great and dropped pollen onto cardboard I laid across the racks I put them through. I had an excellent seed run from this project.

Finally we are at today. 17 weeks exactly. 2 weeks of 12/12 and 15 weeks of 11/13. I stopped giving them any N at all for about 3 weeks because they just try to grow more when they get any at all. I have been giving them bloom ferts but no N.

They have started to fatten up more but still are real shaggy dogs. I will take them out tomorrow and get some close up bud shots. There are more buds than meet the eye. None of the hairs have turned brown so I am thinking these could have 3 weeks to go or more. I don't know because this is my first attempt at these. I know they have been under flowering light schedule for 119 days, 4 months and a week. Patience is a virtue.

Here is the Original Haze.

And here is the Thai. The Thai is taller and beefier than the Original Haze. Neither one had much odor in veg and half of flowering. The O. Haze has an orange/citrus smell and the Thai has a lemon/citrus smell.

These have been flowered in 1 gallon pots in soil.

All comments are welcome. If you have any ideas on how close these are to finishing or anything else please chime in.

Do you let Haze and Thai go until hairs turn brown? Will they even do that?

I guess I am close enough that you all know I am going to finish this freakin grow.

first and foremost, your patience will be rewarded (i hope :D)... it is obvious you're a person who likes to do things right, and mad props for that! i think feeding them N up until about 3 weeks ago could of been the reason for the extra long flower time, but then again it could also be just be genetics... i don't know really, but i'll go with the N for shits and giggles...

anyway, you are almost there, but judging by looks they'll go close to or past new years... some sativa's pistils won't turn either, they'll stay white/translucent so look at the crystals closely... if you've been applying p & k, at what ratios have you been applying?? you have great love for your plants, i have a feeling they'll reward you extra for the patience you have given them sexy sativa gals:D one love and JAH Bless :rasta:

Eye candy! You did good, but to me it seems like they're going to be finishing long into year 2010. Be patient!

WOW! Thanks for stopping in so quick people. I hope you enjoy the thread.

I was only using weak N solution when I was using it. At first I started with 1/4 strength and it was more than they needed. So I cut that in half and they still kept going. So I ended up adding N in a gallon of water for 100 ppm. When I give it P and K it is 300 ppm. At about 8 weeks I gave them a good dose of P and K at 800 ppm.

They were in small black pots for 2 weeks and then into the pots they are in now. I was going with the keep in 1 gallon pots to control size theory. Is that good or bad?

Man I'm jealous of those lovely ladies.

Need some big ass pots for those though!

If you want to control size in my opinion pruning and lst are best. That way you have a much greater control of how big the plant gets and flowering sites. You haven't limited its growing potential in any way if you give them plenty of root room.

Either way those 15 week + strains give me the green eye.

Respect!

... well yes and no.. if left too long in cramped pots (and this would count in your case, though it seems all is well in your garden, so far...) you run many (potential, but not necessarily) chances for things to go awry... rootbound, unhealthy plants, herm, disease, etc are all potential problems that "could" arise... but then again, i've seen growers who swear by keeping plants in the same pots and never have any problems. in your case though, i'm surprised no adverse things occured... of course nothing bad has to occur neither, i mean people keep houseplants in the same pots for a decade sometimes...

.. if my math is correct, those plants have been in 1 gallon pots for 7+ months:yoinks:... I'm amazed! you my friend must have all the herb angels around you ALL the time... One love rasta :rasta:

p.s. oh and yes, small pots ARE an effective way to control size...

I found sativas not to have problems with small pots. its a good way to control size, but you are right, you dont get full potencial with small pots

Icis respect bro. good job done for now, you will enjoy the smoke for sure.

Here's the Thais I grew a couple of years ago from the sticks I get - sadly I had to give these away shortly after (long story), and the guy that took them managed to kill them within a month...;(

A member made some monster trees from these seeds last year, and others have grown them out too - authentic, definitely - and they've been spread far and wide now, including back to Thailand! ;)
