What's new

should i add calmag to my canna nutes?

So i am using canna coco as a medium and canna A+B as my main nutes. My water is 120 ppm or .3 EC. I just threw some girls into flower straight from clone, do i need to be adding calmag to my water?

so in choosing the cal-mag to use is there anything specific to look for, or should i only be using a mag and a cal and treating each indivdually, like sea mag and sea cal.

I'm using GH nutes, and not Canna, but started with similar 150-200ppm well water. Plants complained. Switched to 50ppm water out of a cleaner well. Plants a little better, but still not very happy.

I finally got happy plants by combining the cleaner well water with Botanicare cal-mag, 6ml / gallon on every watering.

They've been so happy for 6 weeks that I tried switching back to the original 150ppm well water, as it's easier to obtain than the cleaner water. After a few days I found some twisted, scrunched leaves on a few plants. Sigh... back to hauling in the cleaner water...

thats the one i have been using, but i am unsure if i really need it. My waters ppm is almost 200ppm at a .7 scale, its 120-140ppm on a .5

i just have these girls that are almost three weeks into flower, and i just got a lot of built up salt out of them and am starting them back at a 250ppm feeding. and then ill go up like 20-30ppm a day till i find where she wants to be.

what is the usually accepted base feed schedule for canna nutes in flower, cause i don't even know if 250 ppm is way to low, maybe i should be starting around 300-400-500? if anyone can give me an idea of what they use and their meters conversion if they don't have the EC.

thanks guys

yo dank i have been "advised" that i didn't need it, also
i found i like the results of growth & flowers when adding the c/m to the regime
my tap water is 350-385ppm on the .7 scale

i like the extra added N the c/m also provides (npk 2-0-0). i regularly add 5-10ml per g in veg, 5ml per g in bloom thru wk 3/4 (depends on plant).

hope this helps

i used to know wht the ppm/ec was after i added the c/m but i have begun to kind of veiw ec/ppm as sort of a tachometer of sorts... i like listening to the engine tell me when its time to upshift/downshift

hope that makes sense

I would. At at least 2ml/gal to avoid the trouble I have had.

so heres my feeding schedule for my gals.they are in hog heaven.week 3 flowering 13ml/L coco a-and b.2ml/galrhizo-tonic.10ml/gal cannazym,15ml/gal cannaboost,6ml/gal pk13/14,EC1.3-2.1 ppm1400.@77'Fmake sure to add EC value of your water onto the advised value.optimum ph 5.2-6.2.this works incredibly well for me no nute burn.always use cal mag 50ml/5gal and i supplement with molasses.also disolved O2 is very important.i use an airstone in my res and only mix small batches at a time.hope you can use this.

that part makes perfect sense i am very worried about redlining it is the thing, but the numbers you gave me made me feel way at ease because your water is slightly higher ppm than mine when i change it to .5 scale so i should be good. i am gonna fix the bitches with there feeding tonight. SHould i give them a foliar as well because ca is imoveable

did you mean 13ml/gal cause 13ml per litre cause i can't make the canna site say higher thn 3.5ml per litre

Just to bring up something interesting....On another site I read someone was skipping the cal mag because they had used half tap water and half RO(filtered) water.....They said the tap water gave essential minerals to the water and the use for cal mag was not needed.....I've been wondering about this for a while, would make my filtered water last longer for sure.

oh dammit, i remember reading that too, so based on what they are doing my water is twice as cal-maged before i even add any.... i am just gonna try adding the cal mag for the next few days, how long does the purpling in the stem take to go away?

13ml/gallon my bad.i use only tap water on my gals and i must use cal mag or a deficiency will soon follow.50ppm is my tap water out of the tap.i know that the water treatment facility uses ozonation and filtration to sanitize the water.some cities use calcium hypochlorite which definately increases the disolved calcium .just depends i guess...

It depends if you are in the US or Europe, or if you use RO....

In Europe, with Canna Coco and Canna A+B I have never needed it.

I had one run with just straight Canna nutes in my 200ppm water and had severe Cal/Mag deficiencies. Next run I started following Greyskulls schedule with Botanicare Cal/Mag Plus and have had great results since.

You have decent Ca in your water and your nutrients. So I'd say if you want to boost magnesium...I'd just go with Epson salts.

I'm having problems with calcium as well running H & G w/ coco. I'm using RO water at a 5.95 ph.

They are in 3 gal pots.
day 13
7.5 ml per gal of a and b
1.1 ml roots exel
.8 ml drip clean
3.8 ml zyme

Do I need more or less cal or mag? I'm lost as to if it is locking out or missing out on it. effecting the leaves quite a bit but the growth rate seems fine.

I use tap water after it has sat for many hours with canna coco + canna a + b and haven't needed cal/mag yet.
