1.5'x1.5'x2' area whats the best use of space?

How ya'll doin?? Well, heres what ive got.. its a box, with a usable "growth area" of 1.5'w x 1.5'd x 2'h. Its currently got 6 plants, grown from seed, supposed to be 3x northern lights, and 3 big bud. I dont know which are male or female, but I can see they're starting to show, im not exactly sure how long they've been growing but its been atleast a month..

So far so good, I built the little box, had some problems at first with temps and leaks.. but It seems all is well now. So now that ive got it all worked out and I see the space available, Im not really sure what to do with it?

So, what I was thinking was put 2 grids peaked together at the top to try to tie the plants to.

Kinda curious what the easiest way to fertilize? Are there any simple ways to do this? Ive read a bit about some recipes, and am not really sure where to find all the ingredients?? So will just sprinkling tomato ferts from HD work?

Also temps peak at 88 is that goin to be ok? I can make it cooler, but then the noise is somwhat noticeable.. especially for me since my ears seem to be tuned to the tone it makes..

Heres some pics of what ive got.. any help, especially in the fertilization department will be greatly appreciated

When I was doing all my research and jotting down notes I wrote down that optimal temp for vegging is 75-78 (lights on) with >50% RH and flowering was 78-81 and < 40% RH. I think the "danger zone" is temps well over 90 and RH well under 30.

With 2' height your plan to get a grid/screen in there is a good one from where I'm sitting.

I can't help in the fert dept. but my last piece of advice would be to try and get some white paint or reflective tape/mylar in there to spread the light out more.

Just my two cents.

Another question, I was thinking of leaving the males. Keeping them trimmed and short. The reason for this is that I dont have room or the urge to keep a mother plant.. I Think growing from seed is simpler.

Unless, is it possible to clone off a flowering plant, and then veg... or clone from flower, and then restart flowering? Just keep different ages of the same plant continuously re-cloning?

I remember reading somewhere that you can cut clones from a plant in it's early flowering stages.

Wouldn't it be easier to just take cuttings from plants right before the flip, give them a touch of rooting hormone (or don't) then veg those clones while their originals flower. Then when those have vegged enough you rinse and repeat...

Also somewhere around here is how to re-veg plants that you've started to flower.

My advice needs a grain of salt though, I'm still waiting to germ my first ever seeds. But I intend to do just what I described above until I have established a mother or two.

I would just cut clones before the light switch, except I only have one area to grow.. so 12/12 or nothing..

I dont really have much room to fill, I wonder If I could just clone from flowering plants then skip veg.. get a little cycle going..

i have seen a couple people flower clones right fter they root (4-8 days...)
I think it would be fine....just clone them and leave them in 12/12 if they root they root if not it was a try....nice little set up....you should go look around dr.bud's grows a little if you haven't as i learned alot when i read it....good luck..:joint:

couple new pics...

... less than 18" to grow, should I start flowering??

Also, its got miracle grow dirt, so will the built in ferts be enough for another month or so? Should i be adding more nurients?

Im gonna try the clone from flower plan... hope it works, would be convenient..

Im starting 2 more Northern Lights seeds.. Im gonna keep the bottom of the little container submerged in water for the first couple days..

Also switched to 12/12. need to get somthing in there to start tying the plants too.

Have you tried running the lights with the decorative glass covers removed?

Yea, I ran them without at first.. Figured, the glass would kinda insulate the heat.. does the glass filter the light?

Growing from seed is not simpler...but growing from feminized seed? Ok. That's an acceptable though somewhat more time consuming approach.

The nice thing is - making your own feminized seed is not that hard. You need a colloidal silver generator and then treat a branch on one of your known females to make female pollen. The resulting seed from that polle should keep you going for quite a while if cloning is something you prefer to avoid. You can make a colloidal silver generator for about $20. The thread is here.

Yea I'd remove em.

First they are cutting down on the light available to the plants.

Second, if they (glass covers) aren't vented, they are probably actually created more heat because you've got a greater surface area to radiate heat from.

mate i would try and find a way to root clones - just a half size seed tray with a clear dome lid - you can get them anywhere. put under a small cfl (i use 9watt 24hrs) in a closet or something. take clones in the first 2 weeks of flower and then pot them up and flower them once well rooted - should work out fine. with your lack of height clones stretch less than seed plants so they should help - and you can then keep your favorite plants going for free

cheers

10-4 Pullen the glass off.

Suppose I could make a little 1'x6"x6" cloning department.. with just a single light..

Thanks for the help
