Anyone Remember the Red Scare?

Actually i have two high quality items from China.. Someone makes some nice stuff actually..

I am understanding the Age of Western Rule is over. China is not like our Western Style and Vision..
So the Real Question is can Chinese own Bongs if they are Chinese Citizens in China?

Didn't know it was illegal to import bongs. I used to get them sent here to the states from Europe a few years back. They passed through customs as a "flower vase."

As a glassblower for the past 9 years, I say screw that shite Chinese glass. I market my glass as being Schott or sometimes Simax (Pyrex sucks too) but won't use any chinese tubing, rod or color, that crap isn't allowed in my shop. My old distributor stopped carrying good glass and went to all chinese because of the profit margins, so I had to stick with the only distributor of Schott in the US. Trust me, you don't want to smoke out of chinese glass, they find ways to put lead into plastic kids toys and toothpaste, hard glass is the perfect place to dump a bunch of lead (think lead crystal, pretty much the same thing).

How would the lead leech out in smoke? Seems like lead crystal is impermeable, unleechable unless you apply acid or something to dissolve it, no?

seems it would be more of a hazard to the glass blower than to the smoker...

for the same reason you don't want to drink out of lead crystal glasses, you don't want to smoke out of glass with lead.

Warning
# Crystal releases lead into food or beverages that come into contact with it. The amount of lead released depends upon the amount of lead in the crystal and the type of food or beverage. If food or beverages are stored in lead crystal for long periods of time, significant quantities of lead will leach into them.
Features
# Lead crystal is particularly dangerous if used for long-term storage. White wine, poured into a crystal decanter, will double its lead content in one hour and triple it in four hours. Alcoholic beverages, like brandy, stored in crystal decanters for years will have dangerous levels of lead.

Remember, you put water in it and your mouth against it. Trust me, lead isn't something you want to mess with, it's brain damage that isn't going away, stay away from the chinese stuff.

^thats actually kinda scary

Where they went wrong...

You don't label a package contents as something MUCH LIGHTER (or heavier) than it should be as it will certainly arose suspicions at customs.

In this case calling the shipment "Christmas Ornaments" means the box should be light, as anyone who has ever had a box of Christmas ornaments can tell you. Glass bongs weigh far more.

I once had a shipment confiscated by customs cause it said "socks" on it. It should've been light, but it wasn't. So customs opened it, and I got a letter about the confiscation, along with a pair of socks and empty stash containers (that weighed more than socks). Funny thing was they left behind enough for a couple of hits... (how nice of them!)

So there's a lesson there for those naive about shipping thru customs...

good tip, thanks
