Sweet Pink Grapefruit (600W, Growlab 120)

thanks Thejointedone. I'll look into some homemade soil and tea for next time. At the moment I'm willing to try anything as long as there is not a lot of expensive equipment to buy, and homemade, well amended soil sounds cheap. Right now I am running most of the fox farm line,(grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom, and ocean forest soil); do you think organic teas are more "gentle" and less prone to cause nute burn.

Dybert,- I highly doubt I am overwatering. I overwatered at the beginning of last season and got fungus gnats, so I am pretty familiar with how much water is too much. I would say if I am not giving a good amount of water, its probably closer to underwatering than overwatering

Thanks for the comments so far guys

player! player! imho, it look like some ph issues and maybe some nutrient lockout? fox farm nutrients has been known to be pretty inconsistent from batch to batch.

maybe make it a bit more simpler, maybe just some simple pure blend pro? has everything you need in 1 part and very consistent.

if this happened to me, i would flush for a few days....

actually, thinking about it, this did happen to me a few weeks ago with my sweet pink grapefruit. i wasent watering enough and reduced my nutrient by 1/2. within 7-10 days, they look fine!

Nice looking grow bro. You could try using a soilless mix and run a passive hydro system. Its as simple as getting a bale of peat moss. Make sure to add some dolomite lime to it to raise the ph because peat moss has a low ph. Peat moss has no nutrients in it. That is proabably the cheapest way to get into hydro. you could hand water or set up a wick system, or a drip system. Other options are coco or rock wool. I grew once in soil, next grow was peat moss, followed by coco, and finally I have settled on hydroton. Experiment till you find what you like. Good luck on your grow.

sweet grow op brotha i use fox farm nutrients and have had simalar results with certain strains. I used the exact same amount of nutrient solution on diffrent strains that were started on the same date and some burn some thrive. I might switch to advanced nutrients or general hydroponics ive heard lots of good things of these two brands

Krunchbubble- I'll look into the pure blend pro, not sure if there would be problems switching nutrients in the middle of a grow, what do you think? I am starting to get tired of FF after seeing such similar results 2 grows in a row. Last time I overfed like a madman, this time it seems like I am barely feeding at all and plants still just get fried. I have some dolomite lime and always adjust pH before watering, yet runoff is always pretty acidic. There might be some pH issues, but I can't figure out why that smallest, slower growing plant looks perfect, even though it gets all the same stuff as the larger plants. Ill try flushing the plants and watering more as well. I think I might be underwatering a tiny bit

Covertcrops- I plan on experimenting with hydro when I move to a different location in a few years, im just too short on space to add any other equipment right now. When I make the switch I plan on researching it and doing a really nice bigger setup.

Corkushy- I am not really liking FF at the moment. I thing I am going to go with thejointedone's advice and go with well amended soil and use some sort of simple home made tea for feeding next time. I don't see myself using FF products on future grows

I decided to take some side by side pics to show what I mean. Genetically identical plants growing in the same soil under the same lights getting the same amount of water and nutrients and one plant is perfect, 3 plants are a little burnt, and the last 2 are extra crispy. :wallbash: This is so frustrating sometimes!!!!

The grapefruit is a beautiful plant. Great thread Fear! I have the same cut, and I will be flowering soon as well. From the looks of those leaves, Id say u either have some nute lock thats not allowing the plants access to the right amount of phosphorus (P Deficiency). I would give them a good flush with plain water, then water with a high P chemical nute. The FF tiger bloom should do the trick.
I had the same thing going on in my garden recently. I grow in peat based medium. Mostly Promix, vermiculite, perlite, blood meal and bone meal. Great thread brother, thanks for sharing. I will be watching this one to the end ;)10TT

the weed is extremely stinky and very tasty. bumper yields will blow minds! turns purple, done at 50-55 days, what more can you ask for? only problem with the strain is it is susceptible to bud rot, big time. thats why i use and recommend protect all the way through flowering to prevent it.
the lst that fear and loathing in san fran is doing this run might be the way to go.... they look great! :joint:

I was planning on running the SPG clone outdoors, as well as some hybrids next season. What product would u recommend to prevent bud Rot outdoors in the fall? Ive had major issues with bud rot in previous outdoor gardens, and Ive never done anything to combat it. I would like to try a product that I can apply regularly throughout the flowering period without worrying about over doing it..

Thanks a lot KB, and props for getting this cut around10TT

TenToesTall- feel free to put up some pictures of your SPG if you feel like sharing. I am using ProTekt Silicate supplement in attempt to prevent budrot, thats what krunchbubble reccomended to me. Is this your first time with this strain?

I flushed all of the plants today, hopefully that helps them out. Here are some pictures I took while flushing. It was dark out so the pics are a little blurry...

My roomate claims to have a really good sense of smell and says they smell like sage/citrus. My smell sucks and I think it smells sort of cheesy...

Great looking plants bro. Especially for your 2nd time growing. You should be proud :joint:

I'm the worst at deficiency problems so I'm not going to suggest anything, I would however strongly recommend you listen to krunchbubble as his grows are the shit.

Good luck,

B

For some reason the SPG based strains seem to do this sometimes, from what I know it needs ALOT of Magnesium in flower or this happens, also seems to happen when they run out of root space. Funny thing though is you most likely won't have much if any of a decreased yield from the looks of it with such a good budset.

If you water the pots with plain distilled/ro water until run-off what is the PH and PPM coming out?

im usin the FF trio right now for my 2nd grow as well. My first was ruined by hydrohut offgassing.. this one seems to be nute burning.. but FF tigerbloom really does kick in a huge AMOUNT of resin as soon as it starts getting its feeding. The one thing the FF trio is missing is Calcium + Magnesium. Last time I used Magical and this time I'm using calmag.
dont stress it dude. That's the thing, i get all stressed out (even more so than my plant) when I see ANYTHING wrong with my girls at all..
your girls will still produce solid smokeable herb, and thats the whole point isnt it? Relax and I'm sure in due time you'll figure out what went wrong along the way and you wont ever make the same mistake again.

Fear- I havent had the opportunity the flower the SPG yet, so any pics I could post would be in veg. I will be flowering these very soon tho.. I believe we have the same cut, I can see identical plants in your pics.. Very nice thread brother, I will be watching this one to the end.10TT

man i guess i should stay away from FF soil...usually soil is way easier than hydro..just gotta keep it simple...get a nice organic soil and water it with a little homemade tea of bat guano molasses and light nutes..usually money every time

Fox Farm is good soil. However I ALWAYS add dolomite lime to my containers before planting. It helps keep the ph neutral and plus provides the plant with some calcium and much needed mag! Don`t fear the LIME!!!!!!!!

There is dolomite lime in there hempluvr, and I always pH adjust before watering. Water still runs off at 6.0, or lower, which I don't think is very good.

Doktoren, I wouldnt take any of my comments about smell or taste very seriously. I have a TERRIBLE sense of smell and can really only smell very strong smells.

I thought lime might have enough cal/mag, but maybe I will have to add another supplement to the mix

420chef- Im just like you, I tend to get really stressed when they don't look perfect. Guess I just need to smoke a bowl, relax, and wait to see what happens. IMO my bud still turned out really well last time and the last plants were way more burnt

I haven't noticed to much new decay since the flush, but tis hard to tell. The buds have swelled noticeably over the last few days for sure. I'll put up some pics in the next few days.

Thanks for all the help guys
