magnetic lock

You could use a regular magnet to open them, yes I suppose. The included magnet is very strong. The "key" is a knob-shaped piece of plastic with the magnet inside. I find the plastic surface of the key unlikely to scratch or remove finishes, particularly on something like an enameled fridge.

StonedU's got it right, $20 for four locks, four catches and one key. "Tot Lok" starter sets. I guess Wal-Mart sells them too

I gotta say they inspire a lot of confidence... I haven't gotten around to trying to pull open my locked cab but my pain has been bad lately so I do not get much done in a day, not to mention wrenching a door open is not my first thought when my body locks up like this.

I've got these Tot Loks on my cabinet and it works perfectly. My cabinet is wood, stained and finished, and it hasn't scratched it one bit....its not THAT strong. That being said my wood was pretty thick and I went ahead and bought a separate Tot Lok key that is supposedly double the strength. Anyways, it opens real easily and I just hide my spare normal one incase my special key gets broken.

Also I was pretty medicated one time and got all the magnets I could find in the house, including some pretty strong ones from the garage, and none of them would work on the lock.

The reason why no other magnet will open them is because the tot lok "key" magnets are neodymium.

If the door has a handle, a strong guy's regular grip/pull will open it with a 'pop' sound. If the door does not have a handle, it's fairly secure vs. honest people.

Found out about these locks some while ago by another forum member, thought 'I have to try them!' ... anyhow.. just finished my new stealthish cabinet and have used 4 of these.

They're brilliant!! Installation was easy without any instructions, I've set them up whereby I have to push the cabinet doors slightly to have the locks release when the key is in place (push the door into the door/window seal stuff I used). I agree they will leave a mark after time but the idea of putting some material over them is perfect, will do this myself! I didn't even put any door handles on my cab yet, maybe I won't - less for the little, and big tackers to want to pull on!

Anyhow, thumbs up for these locks, they can take qite alot of strain too, I have to push the dors shut the same as when I open them and there is quite alot of tension on them... TTK

I'm not too sure if these are magnetic or not, but they don't seem to be a conventional lock.

Built by Master Lock. Check the video out, it shows a few different applications, one of them being a cab. They're on the pricey side but for medium to larger grows, or even day to day security uses this would seem to have numerous applications
