I have a feeling phillip morris and etc will probably lose a lot of business rather than make business. I don't think they'd fair well in the weed industry. I think other companies would surpass them unless they would dump billions into grow farms and hire a bunch of old heads to do the farming..
I'd probably apply for a loan for a cannabis dispensary once laws regarding sale and use are clearly defined...on the east coast, i'd make a killing. probably not as much as i am now, heh, but it beats workin' for the man.

Hmmm, I don't know. I mean I see your point, but I imagine the relatively mild climate in Virginia and North Carolina (tobacco farming states I think) would be well suited for growing cannabis. Think about a company that already has contracts with thousands of farmers. Already has an enormous lobbying presence in Washington. They will have a big headstart.
They would have thousands of acres they could instantly convert to weed. They'd probably keep a lot for tobacco though. It's more addictive, so it's a guaranteed money maker.
The first thing that will happen is my penis becomes erect and I'll hump anything that moves.

I'm not sure if it will ever be completely legal in the way growing corn is legal.
But there would probably be a small market for "boutique" or "microgrow" weed. Like microbrew beer.Marlboro brand weed versus small greenhouse grow would be like Budweiser versus Widmer Hefeweisen.

I would dip into my savings and go on a seed binge, buy some insurance for the package and sleep better at night.
I would also joint venture into the ultimate stoner's lounge. 50" Flatscreens with all the game systems online. Foosball, pool, ping pong, skeeball. R/c car/truck courses. Airsoft arena. Rock climbing, souped up bumper cars. Mega go-kart track with loops and corkscrews, Virtual Reality rides, and regular rides. A gladiator arena...
