I got a free packet of 10 Australian Blue seeds with an order a while back and I haven't tried them out yet.

Im growing a couple now.

I plan to let them pollinate so I can collect the seeds.

Heres how they're are looking so far.

Heres a description from a random seedbank thats stocks them.

Australian Blue:
A Blue Haze cross. This is a 90% Sativa with a lovely lemon aroma. Experience a bit of ‘Down Under’ in your growroom, or alternatively try this one outside when the night temperature doesn’t reach below 17 degrees Celsius. Good yield, quality.

The place I got em from doesnt seem to list them anymore... And I cant really tell you any more about them either sorry as I havent grown them before.

I guess if its 90% sativa, that means 'tall' right?

I have em growin outdoors in a spot where they can cop full light, and they are loving life at the moment.

Yeah just a bit of Baysol snail bait to take care of the snails... little buggers make a mess of me veggie garden!!!

So you're watering snail poison into your plants, and plan on still smoking the resulting harvest??? Doesn't sound good dood :(

If snails are that much of a problem for you you can still create a barrier at the base of the pot to prevent them climbing the pot, without having to water it in to your soil medium.

Remember, plants absorb just about everything you throw at them, even toxic metals and radiation -- a LOT of cannabis was planted around Chernobyl after the nuclear reactor incident.

I like the flavour :)

But seriously, the label says this snailbait has a withholding period of 7 days.

Considering that it breaks down about 14 days after application, and that it will receive only one application when they are seedlings, i dont think there will be any residual traces in the plant after 4-5 months..

You'll find more residual contamination from herbicides and pesticides in just about any fresh produce u buy... unless 100% of your diet comes from certified organic produce.

Do you lose sleep over the strawberries you had on ur cornflakes? There'd be more contamination in half a strawberry than in the buds I harvest from these plants.

Just looking out for your health bro, that's all. Anyway best of luck with your grow, I've not tried Aussie Blue but I'm sure it'll be a nice smoke (and toxin-free if you stop watering in snail poison!). Hazes are well worth the extra wait.

Can't wait to see those little buggers become big budders. Would blue haze be the one with santa cruz in her genes? Best of luck in the always epic slugwar. I've heard a copper wire ring resting on the soil around the trunk deters them.

There's no reason to stop using snail/slug pellets, they're easy to use and work a treat. Just use Multicrop's Multiguard, of which the active constituent is Iron EDTA Complex. Unlike Methiocarb and Metaldehyde, which is the active constituent in your Baysols, Defenders, etc, Iron EDTA Complex is not a scheduled poison. Also, as it breaks down, it will act as a fertiliser for your plants, albeit in fairly insignificant amounts.

EeJay yup - there are plenty of non-poisonous ways to control insects etc. Good advice with the Multicrop's Multiguard too, sounds good.

veryoldman is right, you can even just use beer to make a snail trap - they love beer (but then, who doesn't?)
Here's instructions for a Burkes Backyard beer snail trap:
http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/fa.../Beer-Snail-Trap---The-French-Alternative/487

(I recommend using Fosters - snails can't tell the difference so there's no need to waste decent beer on it)

That's one of the worst problems of cannabis being illegal - if you can't grow your own and have to buy it from somebody else you don't know how they've grown it, what pesticides they might've used (possibly even foliar sprayed), etc. And especially if all the grower is concerned about is $$$ then they won't lose sleep over using poisons to protect their crop.

Homegrown, poison/toxin-free organic for the win!

Make sure not to waste the snails you kill. Escargo is delicious :) Beer battered wouldn't be bad either. I guess if there is any potential harm in using pellets, and you have your plants in pots, it would almost be easier to construct something to elevate them one time and use it forever after than to make traps or even to apply pellets over the course of time. I don't know your exact circumstances so this may not be the case for you. Anyone know of a natural predator for snails that's native to the downunder?

It's just that I hate the taste of Baysol poison in my escargo!

If it's good for Don Burke it's good for me

They seem to have a low survival rate when introduced to thongs (or flip-flops as theyre known in the northern hemisphere!) :)
