Stanley Blower Fan Mod

Still loving the extra power outlets on the Stanley. They're one of the most vital features of my garden. Less extension cords and power strips, less electrical hazard for a hydro setup, lots of configurable uses. It's a grow room must have for the price IMHO. If a knock-off doesn't have the extra power outlets built in then it's a waste of money.

In reality the Lasko is the true product, and the Stanley is the knock-off.
Both have additional receptacles.

Hooiser, have you used both fans? You are right, they do not push what they claim...but I have both...and the Lasko version from Lowes blows stronger. Besides that, they are dual sided, so depending on how you have it hooked up, u might as well cut the CFMs in half.

--UPDATE-- I called the company to get the CFM ratings for this fan. They're very similar to the Stanley blower:
Speed 1: 318 CFM
Speed 2: 395 CFM
Speed 3: 455 CFM

So if they are right, Speed 1 on the Lowes version is stronger than Speed 3 on Stanley. Obviously I do not trust either numbers, but they do work well.

genius!genius!genius! i have been lookin for cost effective ventalation for a while now and was beginning to think id have to settle for one of those shitty sun court duct booster fans, not anymore thanks to this thread. did i mention genius? the dopest indeed.

I stumbled across this while searching for some other stuff and i was just wondering do I need to add a small computer fan where i hook up the carbon air filter or is the blower fan all i need besides the dryer hose and a flange hope you can help a.s.a.p. before i go out and buy stuff i dont need thanks

Depends on your set up, it moves alot of air. So depending on where the fan is mounted, scrubber, duct length, etc. They are not silent, you will hear air moving for sure.

I will have 2 cabinets width 4ft, depth 3ft, and height 7 foot i would put this near the top of cabinet 4-5 inches above the light i am using a 430 watt super hps ES by sun system my carbon air filter diy of course needs to be large enough to eliminate smell even if i need to put 2 in. one on the inside and one one the out but smell is definitley a big problem i have had and needs to be eliminated

Well with 7 foot, you could put the fans and filter inside cabinet. That would help reduce noise big time, but where are you going to exhaust? The exhaust will have a sound of moving air, for sure...but it will work well. Would use 1 fan per cabinet, each hooked up to own filter, if you are using that big of lights. If done right it should not smell, and will cool your cabinet.

Not sure if you are familiar with how airflow works, so if you have not already read the Ventilation 101 thread you should! Proper intake is a must, without proper intake it will not work. Before you start cuttin holes and shit, read up, plan ahead, and do it right the first time. If smell and security are big issues, do not start anything until you are completly ready. Good luck.

Okay so check it out.. I have built a 2x2x5 cabinet (ft that is.) I am putting this in my closet. And I will be using a glass bearrier that is retractable in height. I ordered my stanley blower, and I was wondering the best and most efficient way to use it..

I will be running a 300w cfl, (Got a nice purchase from grainger today ty ty) And I was wondering If i used a collar on the intake of the fan, and simply cut a hole at the top of the cabinet and sit the fan with the collar in. (exhausting hot air) I was wondering about the temp in the closet with the doors closed with the fan inside the closet sitting on the cabinet.... I will add that I also will be using a 250w hps aswell as the 300w cfl when flowering. Any suggestions!?

Carbon scrubber in the mix at all? Where are you exhausting the air? It needs to get out of your closet some how. With that much light your closet will get too warm with doors shut if you did not exhaust it out of the closet. The fan does not put off much heat, but it may vibrate if you try to just put the collar into the cab. Did you cut intake yet? If you have not done so, you should read the Ventilation 101 thread before you continue. Good luck

if your name is referring to whitesnakes song called slowneasy.. I seen them in concert, and i was 17 haha : P Anyways... Carbon scrubber MAY be added into the mix if the smell is bad. Im only growing one plant.. And I could exhaust from the cabinet into my room, but thats just a pain in the ass. And as for the vibration, I dont think it will be a problem? I'll use some nice sealent to get it nice n tight in that hole ; ) LOL
I got my 300w cfl today, and I am gonna just do a trial when i get my blower and see what the temp is inside the cab and outside the cabinet. If it isn't effeciant.. I'll Run some duct through the wall i guess hahaha.

can you all help me out on the best places to position stuff and set up Here is a picture of how my overall cabinet will look it looks like 1 cabinet but its 2 just put both together to save some time.

First Cabinet

A= Drying racks and i messed up on height its 2ft
B=mother room also 2 ft in height
C= Vegetation Height is 4ft only because im using t8 shop lights x6 untill i get MH

D= D compartment is also divided for clones storage

My 2nd Cabinet

E=Flower 430 watt super Hps ES
F= F compartment is divide for Ballasts and supply's soil water ect

or should i just stick with the heights i have listed in my pictures any questions just write back and let me know need to find the best way to set this up thanks

My advice, keep those cabinets seperate. One for flower and the other would be the clone/mother cabinet. Two fans, one for each cabinet. It would be much easier than trying to cool/lightproof two put together. Flower cab must be 100 percent lightproof, so things become much more difficult when you have it attatched to another cabinet.

But the most important thing that you have not even layed out is your intake and outtakes. Proper ventilation is essential, having all those levels makes things much more difficult. KISS, if this is your first grow. Dont get in over your head. Take my advice and keep those cabs apart.

My advice would be to put a carbon scrubber inside your flower cabinet, stanley fan hooked up to it and exhaust out of room. Stanley fan has 6 inch ductwork, so you need twice the intanke...make sure you keep this in mind. The other cabinet will not be as hot, so it will not be as hard to cool. good luck

So that means you need 12'' in diamater for intake right? :O How would you lightproof that? iso answers hahaha thanks!

Could I use two 6" in diamater holes for intake?.... with the elbows.. I would do these on the side of the cabinet, or where they are most un noticable.


What would be the smartiest, and un noticable way to exhaust the heat out of my closet?.. I have a tall bookcase, and I was thinking about making the stanley blower fan really close to the wall, put some duct on it, and cut a hole in the wall and run it through... (This would reduce on the amount of duct I use, which means more airflow)..ANd cover the hole up with the bookcase.. But theres got to be an easier way.. I live in an apt. so help me out!!!!

First of all, querty is wrong. 12 one inch holes is not enough intake. Yes you could use 2 6 inch intakes, with elbows, but it will take up alot of room. You could use Darkroom louvers, they restrict airflow...so always get more than you think. They are not cheap tho. You could also cut square intakes, and make a lighttrap out of wood or cardboard.

If you wanna cut holes in walls in an apt, that is up to you. Not sure how low key you want this, so that will be up to you. Please do yourself a favor and read, the answers are here if you search. Read Ventilation 101, it will answer alot of your questions and you will learn alot. Look for other cabs, similar to yours and see what works for them. Good luck
