504W Independent Test with LED Grow Lights

What would be the ideal plant height with the 126w and the 318w models, to achieve a desirable amount of light penetration into the canopy? Thanks LEDGirl, take care.:joint:

WOW is that like 8 of your lights ?

Thats like $2,000.00 on one plant? two plants?

I asked in another thread how many plants give or take could be under one light and this is what she replied to me.

This is assuming mid-sized bushy plants between 24"-36"

63W: 1-2 plants

126W: 2-4 plants

318W: 4-8 plants

Here she mentions 24"-36" which is why I think it'll kick ass on the AF's.

LEDgal....could you give us a quick breakdown as to why we'd select a variable viewing angle? I see on your site that you have both 60 degree and 30 degrees. I believe I remember reading somewhere that it had something to do with penetration of canopy....but a mental bump from you would be perfect.
P.S.-Try to keep those prices solid until the holidays.....I think Santa may need to pick up a few.

Awesome, thanks for that info S_a_H, im also way excited about these:joint: Sounds like they would work great in a multi-tent setup, since the height isn't too big in them.

I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a way to take pics under these LEDs so that they appear normal colored (if that's even possible). Most good cameras have settings for various lighting conditions but I think these narrower spectrum LEDs present a unique challenge.

Sorry to be slightly OT here LEDgirl, just don't know where else to post this question....

No problem.....

Yeah the stealth applications and to think with only a 318w unit which is less then the power used by a 400w light indoors but giving me something close equal to a 1000w light is really going to increase the output and quality of autoflowers running on 24/7. Because I could never afford to run a 1000w 24/7 that AF's like.

I suppose if you had colored filters on the lens you could.

I hear ya S_a_H, when I was running my 1k all the time, I noticed such a massive jump in my electric bill, over when I was using a 400cmh and some T5's.

The lights are rated for use between 6-12" from your canopy. You can place them closer if your plants show no signs of bleaching. At 12", any of our 60 degree units will be able to fully flower a 42" tall plant as you would under a HID.

The reason we offer a varying viewing angle, is that not everyone grows plants of the same size. Since LED's are units made up of multiple 1W light sources, they don't have the ability to carry light energy as far as a 400W or 1000W HID. To increase the ability of our LED's of carrying light energy over longer distances, we narrow the angle. Most units you see online use 120-140 degree LED's, while we use 60. For people growing plants larger than 42", the 30 degree is necessary to achieve the extra penetration to the base.

The photographs taken under our units turn out a lot better than most due to our spectral output. A lot of units emit a dark purple-ish color (attached an image), while our units emit a bright pinkish color. The white light in our LED's helps you to see your plants, as the green light gets reflected. This allows you to verify whether your plants are healthy, have any pests, etc... which is VERY difficult to do under most LED lighting systems.

In order to take really nice photos, the lights simply need to be shut off. Cameras are much more sensitive to the blue and red light than our eyes are, so when you're in the room with your ladies you mainly see green just as you would under HID. The plants honestly don't appear that much different to our eyes, but when you take a picture you see all the extra color that's not so bright to us.

Excellent thread. Very interesting. Just gotta start saving. I feel inspired to grow LED.

Thanks

LEDGirl,

Just so I am clear, the wattage listed includes the total draw from the units, not just the lights themselves? So the 318W unit draws a total of about 3 amps including the fans? So it would be safe to run 4 of these units on a single outlet that is fed by a 20 amp breaker?

Thanks!

Arggggggghhhhhhhh I'm PIST!!! I wish I would've seen this thread before I got my stupid 400w HID setup!!! I SO would've waited and saved a bit more and went with 2 of these 126w ones oh man that would rock in my DR80!!! Well LEDGirl you fucking rock sweetheart keep up the wonderful work and keep me in mind to test out a 63w one in my micro cab cuz I'm sure you'd have some sales after people see me get down with it. I know I've turned a lot of members into micro growers and proved you can pck 16 plants per sqft and get 7g a cut under CFLs!!! I got a feeling it would be ridiculous in my cab...
Happy LED Growing!!!

The wattage listed is solely LED Power. This is not a 120W LED light where you only get 112W of actual LED's. Our 318W contains 318W LED, as our 126W contains 126W LED. The fans in our units use about 3W each, making the total power draw of the 126W at 144W. The 318W actually uses about 348W of total power.

You should be able to run 4, 318W on a single 20 amp breaker without a problem. Honestly, you should be able to run a few more than that if you needed to ;)

15,000 Hours, or about 2 solid years. If you're using it for a bloom light, that's 4 years of use before your output drops even 10%.
Thanks!
Can the LED's be replaced or does one need to buy a whole new fixture?
If they can be replaced, what is the cost?
