Sorry for shit state of photos. Yeah that is a switch in first pic, hits thumb screw and washer to stop it and send it the other way. Little black button underneath is a thumbscrew for adjusting length of time it stays still at each end.

Rail is the cheap bit, you can get a spare rail for < £20.

No worries on the photos... Now that end stay timer setscrew is going to be a toughie. I wonder if I can go without it, with a constantly moving mover... What do you think?

Yea rail will be cheap, but I think the rail/wheel connection might be the "hardest" part of engineering this. I will be going to the hardware store today to browse and get ideas. That's one of my favorite things to do!

Cant beat a bit of tool porn, screwfix catalogue is my favourite. Will scan instruction booklet and post, when i can get my scanner working with windows 7!!!!:dueling:.
Dont think the end stay timer is essential I have it pausing for only about 30 seconds, takes about 2-2.5 mins to travel 1.5 metres down track.

You're the man. That cleared up a lot. Just got back from the store. I think the rail will cost me about $25 to do what I want. Then a $5 project box at the electronic store. A $15 used wiper motor, random wheels for maybe $5, DPDT toggle switch and actuator (flat plastic piece with ovalish hole in the center for the toggle to interact with) for $5-10. That's $60 but I'm wondering about the power supply. I might try a cell phone battery charger or some transformer from a thrift store. Should be pretty cheap.

I'll have the money in a month or two, so that's when I'm starting up...
Maybe $75 total. That's a little bit of savings and a fun project to move forward with.
