i see nice grows with theese pl-l lamps but i see no evidence they outyeild a standard t-8 shoplight as well as outyeild a t-5. they might be cheaper then t-5's but their like twice the price of t-8s. im not really sold. but the threads buds look nice, im just not sure they are worth any extra money.

Mine cost like two bucks :)

It all depends on the situation bro. For a vertical 24w c-scrog, which do you think will yield best? The pll's glass part of the bulb is 11" long. So I think it makes a lot of sense for me and would absolutely outyield a 24w cfl any day of the week, with the laws of physics riding shotgun.

Which just gave me a great idea. There is room in the tent for 2 small c-scrogs like this, so fudge it, I will just have to do a side by side comparison for ya! :D I can actually get 24w CFLs so is this an awesome idea or what? Plus I'll have twice as much smoke! :woohoo:

Well man, I can't speak for the ten or so (less?) pll harvests I've seen so far but I agree that no real magic has happened yet, and that's the polite version. But it would be hugely unfair to compare thousands upon thousands of CFL grows with years of dialling in, to a new technology. How many grows are you using as a basisi for your opinion?

Surely doesn't take a huge leap of intelligence to see that a better specced light, with a linear format which doesn't fight against itself, with a ballast that is less heat generating and external, that will pay for itself at least 2 times over even on a noob's first, underwhelming grow, is a good idea.

I should get I dunno, at least 3 oz out of this, so that's like 900 bucks and the light cost 200. As mentioned, I simply couldn't do what I'm doing with CFLs. They are the complete opposite of linear and flat, which is what I wanted and why you see what you see. They would take up more space in the roof and I'd need the plants further away, and then I'd be pushing the limits for height.

Every case must be taken individually. Even if I did do that side by side, which I will, it's still not remotely close to a fair comparison. There is no such thing as a fair comparison in any grow side by side. What if one plant started underperforming? To keep it growing well I would have to lower the nutes, and then it's not fair. If I kept on with the same nutes as the high performing plant, the under'former will be overfed and it's not fair.

Then expand that out to a comparison between every grower in the world. See how unreliable any of this is? It means nothing to me what someone else gets under their light. It only matters what I get, so I chose the best specced choice.

The only way to get around the innacuracy of the fore mentioned stuff is to observe a very large number of growers. That simply isn't there for PLLs. So in summation, I can't argue that CFL gets some pretty good yields in some questionable places, and PLL has not yet.

Lets see, HydroSoil moved his pots and the lavarock sliced shit out of the roots, plus some concerns over leaf trimming. Aero was in a computer for craps sake, and had an exhaust fan blow out. DI.Try is on an organic experimental tip with snails in his res and stuff and is even lazier than me.....and you're comparing these to whom? Dr Bud? So unfair bro.

Part of the equation is thickening up the buds. balance that w/ small space/stealth.

PL-Ls just seem like the right light for a nice personal grow.

I didn't realise that was the issue but now you say it, yeah I guess. This is definately not a good grow to watch for thickening buds on an overall scale - look how thin the bud spacing is, lol. Now you guys got me worried! But I will stand my ground.

Just for the record - pll:

What are you doing with that Sierra Nevada? I'm not running around posting pix of Foster's! Make it out here and we'll explore real Pale Ales!

I should point out that's not mine, haha! That was the high-pod by inefectualize. When I make it out there, I'll take up drinking again :D I suspect I'll need it by that stage.

Here is a good aussie brew though:

I made my own beer a few times, it was great.

Damn forgive my ignorant ass but you live in the down under I take it? Beautiful women my friend I remember being on myspace years ago and every time I saw a Aussie gal she was drop dead gorgeous not to say you don't have any ugly chicks I've just always heard the guy to girl ratio is 1 dude for every 3 chicks? Silly question I know, did you grow up out there? Live in the states before??

I want Grams Per Square Foot Per Day. I know I suck give me a break. I'll take Grams per Square Meter Per Day and convert it to retarded American myself.

Haha! Well I suck at all those measurements Hydro, but if you want to give me the formula at harvest, it'd be funny to work out. But remember the seedage will probably boost my yield so I dunno if it's really gonna be worth it.

Hilbie, I gotta harvest first bro! But it's 220w. This is only my second time flowering indoors but I think I got under .25gpw in a straight grams/watt conversion, on my first go with cfl. (I changed wattage a lot so it's hard to say)

Thund, yeah I'm in Oz and that is actually true. Not sure of the exact ratio but there are more chicks than men. I hope no women folk are reading cos I'm gonna tell it like it is.... The reason is that the women are mostly b:witch:es, lol. But certainly we have our fair share, and the weather is always hot enough for short shorts  I find foreign backpacker chicks a lot more classy and appealing than the average aussie "sheila".

Born and raised in oz, I've never been to the us. I really look forward to it one day although my main priority is seeing Europe and a couple of the usual ganja trail places. There are large expat-American populations in certain areas here. We had a lot of hippy stuff going on in the 60s/70s and many moved out here then and are still here. There's nothing funnier to see than an ozified yank :D They do the accent better than people born here!

I personally want to move to a different country when/if I can, as I'm not a very patriotic person and the whole aussie attitude tends to piss me off after a while. Too laid back and unprofessional. Also the huge reliance on alcohol here, not to go on about it, but almost everyone drinks. The racial issues as well are ridiculous. No matter how happy people make it out to be, there is a very large proportion of pissed off aboriginal people who feel (quite rightly, imo) shafted. And now there are large multicultural populations that imigrated into this already unsteady situation and so issues with that happen too. We had huge race riots break out a few years back related to this.

Well that was my first rant of the day... Time to get smoked up! :woohoo:

Visit Argentina! They have decriminalized MJ for personal use and possession and the food is some of the best in the world. Also it costs about 1/4 to 1/10th the price in Europe for a meal and hotel room.

What is the foot print dimensions of your flowering cab and how many days were they in flower?

Peace, :joint:

Hydro, this cab is 22.5" x 21.5"....you guys are freaking me out now, it's still in flower! :D If you meant to work it out for my last grow in the tent, we can't, because the wattage was all over the place. I slowly increased wattage.

Thanks a lot Chief! It is The Pure by the Flying Dutchmen. The original skunk#1 before they changed the recipe. It should be noted that this is from the original packs of seed - there have been people say that the new packs are something else. I have no idea but this is definitely the true Pure. The Pure is one of the cheapest seeds you will find, so if it's the real deal, it's a great strain. One of the heaviest narcotic smokes I've grown.

Anyone grown sensi afghan1? Everyone is agreed here that the sativa pheno was the best smoke we ever grew, in terms of the high. I have some pics I'll try to find later. Will get new cupboard pics too.

3.322 square feet. I'm not looking at watts any more but my last run of PK was .5grams per SQft per day with 50sqft for 56 days was 49.5oz. Does your Skunk#1 look like the one I have in my Dungeon or is mine post recipe change?

Can't wait to see the harvest.

Peace, :joint:

Ahhh I see now, man, you crazy indoor guys with your figures and suchwhats! I'm just gonna fail even worse on that scale because I'll be taking this a long, torturous way into flower, lol.

Your 1a looks similar, but a sativa pheno (you have a habit of that!). It gets really tricky when it comes to skunk heritages...it's all tucked away in little posts by Sam the Skunkman here or there on various forums and threads. But when you mentioned 1a originally, I looked it up and it sure seems to me like it's the same strain.

Nice pictures and plants. Makes me get my hope up, since I've just finished building a pl-l closet with some similiarities.
I've been really impressed with the light for vegging, but this will be the first time I'm not using a hps for flowering.

keep up the good work

Excellent Pedro. I hope you start a thread. Which kelvins are you using? Here are some pics from just now, under a variety of lighting. Ignore the male flower trash around the place.

I had to trim a lot out to save those buds. I bombed the crap out of her with guano tonight and the hermie will be getting trashed any day now. Seeds are growing. Another day at the office. :joint:
