Did you clean the slimed roots and remove all dead algae and dead root matter like I advised earlier in the thread? If you can still "see" the slime (assuming Im reading your post correctly...it's not 100% clear) then you haven't removed the organic fuel in the water. Repost what you're seeing but be a little more clear and specific plz.

Btw, you MUST use Physan20 to kill it. NOTHING ELSE THAT WE HAVE TRIED WORKS TO KILL THE SLIME! Physan20 is the only product that kills it. Did you use Physan? UV won't clean up the problem after the roots are infected. The reason is that the slime on the roots doesnt travel thru the UV device so it doesn't get killed. UV is only for preventative use.

The guys at the shops have NO clue on this--generally speaking. After finding this out years ago, well, you have my quest documented here. Follow the advice to the T, given to you here or you will fail to fight it.

You must get Physan. There may be a product or two that works but it's not worth buying a bunch of stuff that's not sure to work. Physan20 is guaranteed to work. Like richy said, treat it like has been described in the thread the last 10 pages or so. Any deviation is a waste of time and just puts your plants further at risk.

H2O2 will help for the time being. IDK about 45% though. Was that the amount of dilution-- 45 H2O2/55 water. If so, that is way too strong and may have caused damage.

There has been previous discussion about adding a UV Sterilizer to RO Water Filters. I'm going to end up buying one to add to my filter. At the link below is one for $65. They, also, sell filters and replacement parts for cheap. It's where I buy my stuff.

I figure one more precaution can only help.

Oh, bought a booster pump last and it kicks ass. Makes water production about 4x faster.

Nah it was about 35% Max i think. Now the other tub is algaed out hard. Found alot of dead roots lying in the res. Im thinking if cutting all the submerged roots i have which isnt much and just feed more often as the new shoots coming out are really pearly white so there should be no reason for it to be in submerged water as roots that are slimed are just useless anyway and dead so just hack away untill i get the Physan 20. Coz h2o2 and uv aint doing shit till get the physan 20

I don't have the slime. What I think I have is an on-going virus or disease introduced from shit clones that have now infected my entire system.

Symptoms are poor root and top growth with mg deficiency like symptoms, resulting in the 2nd and 3rd tier leaves (always from the top down) showing these symptoms. Root growth is about 30% of normal for a 8 week old plant. I first thought this was a mg deficiency but that can't be possible as there is no response to any treatment. I believe that I introduced some virus or fungus to my room with these shit clones.

This may be off thread topic, but has anyone here ever seen anything like this? My rez and buckets are clear of any slime of algae. This is why I am narrowing this down to some virus. I have ordered some physan 20 and plan a tear down and treatment of all parts. The question here is, has anyone ever experienced something like this?

Sounds like you need to dump the res, clean the container and airstones and anything else in contact with the slime and start a new res. If you have FRESH white roots then the plant is trying to re-establish. That's a great sign! Get rid of that infected water and definitely remove all the dead, discolored roots. I suggest just plain tap water (or RO if you have it) and a chemical nutrient only. No organics in your water at all.

its really been a long time since i have checked out this thread. I was saying this months ago but all you need is the right bacteria and fungi. Make a compost tea from good compost, or compost your kitchen waste using bokashi and use bokashi juice in your res - or even buy a bottle of good bacterias and fungi (although this is prolly the shittest as there is little diversity). Bokashi juice gets my vote. Not only will you be slime free you will grow bigger healthier plants that are more ph tolerant! I think you will poison yourself, your plants, and others using toxic chemicals to battle slime. If it works for you and you are happy with it, that's fine, but to all others who need help there are safer more effective methods imo.

well this is taken directly from the their own website (physan 20)

USER SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

User should:

* Wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet.
* Remove clothing immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing.
* Remove PPE immediately after handling this product. Wash the outside of gloves before removing. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing

Sounds risky just at the point of use, and no doubt some of it is going to end up in the plant. Then you have a sterile environment for slime to colonise without competition, so maybe you wont only use it once.
EPA approved. aren't they the same agency that approves chloramine in tap water. Still, its good of them to limit it to 4ppm - hah!
I really recommend bokashi composting, its only just slightly more bother than chucking food waste in the bin - and i loathe making compost teas because of the hassle!
Essentially bokashi is just pickeling your kitchen food waste, and you get an abundance of liquid run off that's full of good bacterias and fungis and fermented nutrients. There are so many other benefits... like you can have rich black compost in 6 weeks.

Question - if I believe that I my have a root problem of some sort (roots are tannish white but not brown and slimy), can I run a low dose of Physan 20 in my DWC for a few weeks to try to salvage the crop before tear down and a through cleaning?

I dont think anyone here has ran Physan as a preventative supplement. I wouldn't. It's a quick kill and dump solution and as DItrY points out above it could get taken up somehow if left too long.

Oh. I could'a swore that I saw that it was done somewhere in this thread, without damage to the plants. I've been following here for a few months, having first read through the thread. I just can't find it now that I am looking for it.

Thanks.

I believe some pages back somebody did. I think my advice was nobody has done it yet, but, probably not such a good idea. IGT is right, its a quick use and dump product for disinfecting.

TY richyrich. I'll do a mix, flush and dump, if I cannot find the comment I remember reading.
