I am paying the following right now:

MS-Contin 60 mg tabs 6 tabs daily = 180 tabs $1,133.00 Month
Other meds I take $700 mo.
My last surgery ran about $800K

I'm spending $22K a year on big pharma.
I smoke close to a 1/4 every month. That's about 1/10 the pot consumption of some patients but, I'm still using morphine to kill my pain as well.

My local disp. has different grades of gear. Prices vary from $35 - 60 for an 8th. You also need to add tax on to the that, so $68.00 for an 8th of the OG Kush.

WOW that is outragous here in Canada the exact same amount for morphine is $375.00 but it's covered by the Ins. Co. so your not out of pocket once you pay I think it's $350.00 for a family of 3 dedutable. So the pain pills cost nothing once that is paid. Education, standard of living, health indicators etc. have all gone way downhill from there. Americans work harder for less than ever before and are fatter, more ignorant and live a shorter life than the rest of the developed world. I could go on and on debunking this myth. 2) If you think that any one "ism" in its pure form is the answer for the economy of a world the size and complexity of the one we live in, you show a deep ignorance of economics. (2) I think that no human is father or mother of natural law. I think humans are a species that has evolved into population unlike any other in the history of the earth. I think that we human beings are naturally traders. We have used trade to spread wealth and knowledge around the globe across the 20,000 or so years we have been moving to any extent. So I'm not going to buy any label or ISM if you prefer. I just argue for FREEDOM. Individual Property Rights and the respect of those rights are the true measure of any society.

I am one of the very few on this board who wants to stand up to the theft and control of our ability to grow or not grow as we see fit. How about this:

I don't think the Walmart masses are re-educatable. People have lost the ability to do and make things for themselves. There is a difference between a poor farmer who lives on the side of the mountain in the 3rd world and a poor person in the USA... the farmer WOULD manage to better his life and situation if presented with the opportunity... the Walmart customer just wants to be trickled down upon by the wealth that surrounds them and lacks the skills. In the rest of the world, the poor eat raw ingredients... basic foodstuffs, while in the united states, the poor eat processed food with little to no nutritional value that is shat out by giant corporations onto the shelves of the W. rather than paying to reeducate them, we need societal paradigm changes that will educate them in some viable way in the first place... and somebody is going to pay for it.

I agree that we are natural traders but I also believe that we are advanced enough as a species to conduct our trade in a manner that allows for generosity, compassion and mutual aid needed to offset the greed that will naturally follow frome some in a free trade environment... I do not believe that everybody deserves the same amount of everything, but I also do not believe that anyone should go without the absolute basics even if they are not capable of providing it for themselves. There is enough food on the planet to feed everybody, but people are hungry because its not capitalistically profitable to distribute food and clean water globally. In a society that is as rich as ours, food, water, shelter, electricity and basic health care for all ARE POSSIBLE... so why don't we do it? Why are we so offended by this idea?

Anyhow... I am kinda sick of debating capitalism vs socialism because I am not a proponent of either. I think that a free market that encourages innovation is a great thing. A system in which I thrive. I also think that a system that is capable of creating wealth as such can afford to spread it around.
