T-5 is a great light. You can grow some nice buds. Yes HID is better but T-5's are better than an CFL IMHO. I have tried to flower under CFL's and they buds are wispy. T-5 buds are tight. The plants stay compact and have very short internode distance.

I would transplant as soon as I see some roots pop out. I would gently rinse as much of the peat puck off as I could before placing in the waterfarm. Peat particles clog stuff up.

Just put the puck in a saucer of water until it gets so mushy it rinses right off the roots.

Hey cobcoop could you provide a link to that 300 watt CFL and what are the advantages of the 300 watt vs T5? How is your SLH doing? What type of hydro are you running? Thanks
gogoplata420 I wish I could run HID but maybe in 6 months I can do something like that
They aren't true 300w bulbs, they are 300w equiv. but those are the largest that HD carries. And you want to get the 'soft white' ones for flowering. I use soil and 800w hps for flowering, so not much help on the hydro. But they will get tall, so I would pinch them if height is an issue. They don't seem as nute sensitive as what I had read, in fact they started showing def's so Im giving them about 2/3 of what GH recommends on the bottle. From what I've seen it is VERY good smoke though, only time will tell.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. I think i am going to stick with the T-5 8 bulb. Right now for seedling stage i have the 2 foot 4 bulb T-5 which is working rather well. I have included a picture of my seedling and when i look at the bottom of the rapid rooter i see about a 1/4 inch of the taproot coming out so i would assume its time to transplant to the GH Waterfarm. Am i correct in this assumption? Would anyone reading this recommend that i start the GH Expert Fertilizing schedule on this seedling or should i wait? Again any advice is appreciated and thanks for the grow support. I have included a couple pics so that you can get an idea on the seedlings size before leting me know to transplant or not.

Yea I'm runnin SLH also and mine were showing deficiency at 8/16 flora series. It was a nitrogen def. and I run a bubbler and I had a cheap ass Milwaukee Ph pen that never calibrated right so I thought it was just my ph was out of wack, but even since I gor my new Hanna joint it was runnin light on the N so I added alil veg seemed to take care of it. So basically keep an eye on that. My bad for rambling Bud Soldier. Good luck wit the grow. I heard the T5 and T8 kick off more heat than most anticipate. How do you feel?

I had P and/or K def at the beginning of flower. I was feeding light cause I read from others that she didn't like the nutes too much...

ya i bought the Hanna PH Checker and i had to calibrate it a couple times but it works pretty good as far as i can tell. To double check if it is working right i just calibrate it, test some tap water and then test it again with some calibration solution to make sure its still dead on. The shop i buy at gets the TDS Meters in tomorrow so i can track nutrient solution. This weekend i am ordering the T-5 8 Bulb. CherChezlaGhost how big is your grow space your using with SLH? I am going 5x5 by 6 foot tall and i am going to LST. So back to my original question do you think its time to transplant that seedling into the waterfarm? And from what i am hearing i should start out the nutrients on the less side.

If you are determined to stick with flourescents, the answer to the question "T5's or CFL?" is "none of the above"

Budsoldier: The thread you need to read is here.

they look ready for the waterfarm. if you are using RO water, i'd say start with a 1/4 to 1/2 strength nutrients. might wanna wait til you get your ppm meter though...

I thought with Rapid Rooters you could pretty much place them in the hydroton as soon as the roots show? i didnt know you have to wash off the RR before you place it in the medium.

can someone explain the processes of using RR's please.

sorry for jumping in on the thread.

No its cool daemos thats a very good question. I did not know you could remove the RR from the seedlings roots without a huge risk of killing the plant. If there is a method then i too would like to know about it. ICKIS can you elaborate on the method?

do not remove the rapid rooter just put it in the bucket and it will adapt, it survives any way possible.the rapid rooter is made to transplant

Ok ill keep it in the rapid rooter. Well here is a picture of the best plant and i am ready to transplant it but the grow shop did not have a TDS Meter so now i have to order one off the net and i really need to transplant to the waterfarm. Is it safe to transplant without the TDS Meter? Please let me know.

Well the Grow store still didnt get the TDS Meter in so i couldnt transfer to hydro i had to transplant my SLH into foxfarm ocean forest. Can i still fertilize with GH Flora series? And if the moderators want to move this thread to the Indoor soil they can since i will no longer be growing hydro at the moment. Thanks

Well everyone as i said i had to go to Fox Farm Ocean Forest and i am going to fertilize with my Flora line of nutrients when the plants are a little bigger. Fox Farm is pretty hot as it comes i dont want to risk nutrient burn on my seedlings. I attached an updated photo i just watered with both subcultures from the GH line. I provided a pic of my healthiest plant. Any suggestions on when to start fertilizing?

Hey everyone i am back again. Here are some updated pics. I had a PH issue i wasnt PH adjusting my water and i made the mistake of assuming distilled water was PH Balanced and it registered at less than 5.5 so after that mistake i PH adjust all my water and then after i water my plants i always check the run off PH my runoff PH right now is about 6.1-6.2 and the water i was using to water the plants was PH adjusted to 6.3 so that should solve that problem. I used some very dilluted Flora Nutrients in a spray bottle to foliar spray my plants and it burned some of the leaves a bit so i flushed and hopefully the plants will do fine. Here are the pics let me know what you think.

Plants look healthy enough that they can pull through. Just need to figure out the cause of the issue.

What pH are you watering/feeding at?

What exactly are you feeding?

Tap water?

I'm running the same strain. It seems sensitive.. I've had luck with lucas formula and about 2-3ml calmag per gallon, but this is in coco. I also had good results with head's formula, 0/6/9 instead of 0/8/16. Did it because I was running out of bloom.

More than half the leaves on that plant are damaged from a heat issue I neglected. Doing good right now though. 2 weeks into flower.

Looks like PH. We are growing the same strain. I am also using Lucas and find my leafs twisted around, after correcting PH they untwist in a matter of hours.

Edit: Oops I read the strain name wrong
