What's new

A guestion about a soil mixture...

like I said man, I'm crazy and have this vendetta against peat... I still don't see what is so great about it... tons of countries grow fine herb without peat, people don't even know what it is...

peace

Its cool.

Its the same...But opposite here I guess.

I cant go to the garden store and find any coco, or things of that nature.

Hydro shops maybe, but they arent near by.

And ordering soil costs alot due to shipping.

Trust me, I wouldnt suggest it if it didnt work. lol

I hear you Illegal-Seed, maybe the problem the OP is having is that he needs to add more perlite to get his peat to drain better.

much peace

id simply say you didnt put enough water to drain all the way through that or your container doesnt have drain holes just gotta throw out all them possibilities :) ive done this several times i use 7 gallon pots and i pour a gallon on them and nothing drains it doesnt make me bat an eye just meant it needed the water worse than the others you dont have to ph every single run off when feeding i try to keep my ph at 7.1-7.3 till my run offs get to the 6.2-6.3 ranges i want and it seems once i get to that ph and keep feeding at that ph till harvest works the best for me you can play geussing games with ph for months its not that cruicial sure you wouldnt want to pour an acidic or to basic mixture onto your plants it'll burn them good like good enough to kill all its leaves but i had 3 loose all there leaves and make a complete comeback and flowering as we speak but at sametime i lost 3 so win some loose some

I got some new dirt from the shops...I managed to replace the other and brought the same dirt I used in my first grow:

45% Peat Moss, 30% Sand, 20% Perlite, 5% Kompost.

The ingredients ensure good water drainage and a comfy air regime. Good for growing Cactuses.

PH 5.6 - 6.5

Salts: 0.5 - 1.0 g / L
(NO3 - N) 20-100 mg / L
(P) 20 - 100 mg / L
(K) 100-400 mg / L

(Ca) 300 - 2500 mg / L
(Mg) 100 - 400 mg / L
(Fe) 50 - 250 mg / L
(B) 0.5 - 2.0 mg / L
(Cu) 2 - 15 mg / L
(Mn) 4 - 30 mg / L

EDIT:

The soil they are in right now...has now become pretty dry ! Its been like 3 days or so since the last transplant and watering, I found out something new yesterday aswell...I have never known after how many days the dirt needs to become dry again, in a video, I found out that if the mixture dries out in 2-4 days, thats a good mixture to use... if any of you here have any objections. :D

I have discovered that ONLY peat moss is very good for them, they seem to LOVE this mixture.
Also I found out, it dries in 3-4 days which is good and which they seem to like also...
But later, when they are bigger, Ill perhaps make a mixture of both dirts I have bought or such :p
