Anyone ever get the urge to do math when high?

I noticed this more with sativa strains. I become immersed in trying to figure out things mathematically, and will usually take out a paper an pen and work a problem out. A basic example is how big to make the drain on an Ebb & Flow tray to make sure it drains in X seconds or minutes.

I'm no mathematician, I don't even go to class, but calc and other things I used to enjoy seem much more pleasurable when high these days.

I definitely get the same urge. Even though weed + math doesn't normally seem to work well together, a good sativa will get me more than excited to figure out anything I can mathematically. It usually ends up being something growing related but not always. The pen and paper is very common. That and windows calculator.

all the time

If I only have 2 bowls left and I smoke one tonight I will have X bowls tomorrow

then by the time I think about it I smoke the second bowl and deal with tomorrow when it comes.

math is fun

still my favorite...

Let X = .9999...

then 10X = 9.9999....

subtract left sides and right sides of the equations

10X = 9.9999...
- X = .9999...
------------------------------
9X = 9.0000000

divide both sides by 9:

X = 1

.999 = 1

About a decade ago I had the best hookup ever... sold stuff that the snobbiest of the forum snobs would appreciate. We were friends on top of that, so we hung out a good bit. Guy was a graduate student in algebra and cutting-edge matrix theory work. He couldn't even get into the proper mindset for it until he was high. Had some of the craziest discussions with him while smoking...

Actually, I designed my scrog frame after smoking. May sound easy enough, but I was designing it with 45 degree PVC elbows, and trying to find the right lengths for the PVC arms. Had to bust out the mad trigonometry.

Tried to recreate it again when I was sober, and I just gave up.

No, but I can calculate grams to ounces in my head faster than anybody I know thanks to pot!

yes i have noticed this. also i seem more receptive to geometric patterns, even abstract geometric patterns. strange things stand out that would otherwize go unnoticed :abduct:

Kinda.
When I'm really baked, I love to estimate how much illegal money is actually flowing through the American economy.

I also try to estimate how much of Big alcohol's profits come from under age drinkers. I wonder what would happen if only people over 21 purchased alcohol for themeselves or on behalf of only other people over 21, what would happen to their yearly profits.

So to answer,
yes I love crunching numbers when baked.

ummm.... 9X = 8.999999; X still is .9999

I don't get it...

Heck yes...I do this too...Thought I was a dork....well, I still think I'm a dork.

When baked I also like to question the concept of "'Randomness."
Do we accept that something is random just because of our life spans. How many of us have spent so much time with another person that you could actually predict their behavior with a high degree of acurracy?

Imagine if I charted the winning numbers of the state lottery every week for the next
one million years. Although each week is an independant trial, given a long enough timeline isn't everything predictible?

peace.

I always seem to look for patterns or logic in numbers I see and smoking weed, at least till I become unable to think much, seems to make me do this even more. Gotta love wasting hours on weird stuff when stoned. :D

I was graduated with a doctorate in math...I do math freelance for game programming.
When I get stoned I get into the derivational calculations of the physics involved in
this or that concerning sustainable living...mainly cause I live totally off-grid back so far
in the boonies that sunshine has to be mule-packed in.
Luv the math tho....do analogous algorithyms half the day....
gad...think I'll go smoke a bowl now in fact....

Carl Sagan claimed that cannabis helped him think about math in new ways.

I'm more prone to composing music in my head and thinking about art and the universe. Quantum physics and M-Theory only make sense when I'm high.
