I share the same opinions as a lot of you guys, stereotypes exist in peoples mind. Which is why I do not advertise my activities as not everyone has experienced the herb. For example, my ex girlfriend shared too much info with her mother about me. Few days/ weeks later i was speaking to her mum and smoking got brought up. I had a conversation on the subject, which i would rather have left. She said something along the lines of going crazy, messing with minds. I'm sure she even mentioned overdose. This is just another example of an uneducated individual. I was honest, since I wanted to be part of the family, told her that I've smoked for years, gave her some statistics. I know fine well that I didn't change her opinion, but it ended the conversation.

Point being don't give people an excuse to voice their opinion, however ignorant it may seem.

That aside, I want one of these ROOR t-shirts. People know what they see when they spot a cannabis logo on somebodies shirt. But only a handful know about glass.

some people wear it just for the style. A hippie looking jacket doesn't necessarily say much, but I bet you can't find one person with rasta-long, braided hair, wearing an organic t-shirt and sandals who DOESNT smoke

and no I would never directly question some one about pot even if they obviously smoked. unless im drunk or something dumb. Someone does that to me, I say "Nice try DEA!"

When people find out I smoke they can't believe it. I guess I don't look the part. The closest thing I have to stoner clothes is a hat and t-shirt I got from seedleSs clothing, but I only wear them to the beach.

if you have fake locks

(as in, last week you didnt have them- this week you do)

chances are, you probably smoke. and drink.

on the other hand, if you have real locks (as in you just let your hair do what it wants)

its up in the air. but really, everyone smokes.

and who doesnt enjoy a nice bob marley song every once in awhile?

dont dress like a hippie and you wont be treated like one by the establishment

anyone can wear anything they want, but unalterable stereotypes exist in people's minds which will label you as a stoner, no matter how much you want to believe the world works on political correctness.

I unwittingly created this issue in another thread, as mentioned in the OP. I kept getting misconstrued and defending myself and it derailed my original issue lol, but I think its cool Lil'oMe created this one. I quoted Alpinestar because he says it best.

I would like to re-characterize the issue: the OP is concerned with the stereotyping of rasta clothing in general. Just because you wear rasta clothing doesn't mean you smoke pot -- that's his point.

The issue is whether you should wear your rasta clothing to the collective or not. You are wearing rasta clothing, you are entering a collective, you obviously smoke pot. But by wearing the rasta clothing are you giving the impression that you are a recreational smoker exploiting the medical marijuana laws? The answer is yes if you live in SoCal, because district attorneys are claiming people "who aren't sick" are getting medical marijuana recommendations. What could they possibly mean by this? I'm not going to spell the rest out for you if you don't get it, learn to read between the lines :p

I know I would wear whatever it took to be able to keep buying my medical marijuana. If I thought for a second that my rasta beanie could give the wrong impression due to ignorant stereotyping by the general public, then I wouldn't wear it. That is because I value my right to buy medical marijuana more than I do my right to wear whatever I want into the collective. Shit, I'd go naked to the collective if I had to, or wear a dress. When it comes to preserving my right to buy weed legally, albeit through the very small window I have, I do everything I can to preserve that right. Catch my drift?
