how low are your lights? ive heard of heat stress and too much nitrogen in flowering contribute to foxtailing. also i know its strain dependent and most sativas usually exhibit foxtailing traits.

the original poster shows some pretty burnt leaves. i don't think the 12" is really 12", or there isn't enough ventilation in the growing area
Longhair, you might need to ask your friend to step inside of your grow room during lights off to see if light is leaking in.

I've had the same problem. Got rid of with new strain. I had one strain that did it all the time, I thought it was the age of the bulb, but same bulb and new better strain and the problem is gone... Go figure...
