lets see some of the more forward thinking members post some ideas here ^_^

i say infinity dimensions, the ones we live in are 3 spatial and 1 time dimension

current accepted maths suggests there are 11 dimensions but they also say there may be more...

every dimension is like a breakthrough to a new reality of being.. there are infinite levels you can never stop growing and liberating self.

Let me guess,

you saw the "universe" episodes especially the parallel episode?

those are great to watch and WONDER.

I think for us to assume or pretend to know about the universe is premature UNTIL we can actually get out of our galaxy and actually go further and KNOW what is out there.

I do think that IF other galaxies, or dimensions are found then the religion basis of christianity and the bible would become NULL. God created the heavens and the earth and about only speaking OF our earth the animals, fish, birds, adam and eve. If there are other dimensions or universes or galaxies WITH human life that would debunk the adam/eve b.s. unless they had the ability to procreate on multiple planets.

I think there could be dimensions but my little brain cannot comprehend it. Also if that is true I would like to go into the dimension where I am wealthy.

Can we switch dimensions? That would be something worth paying for. It would be like the ultimate freaky friday or parent trap or whatever that movie was where those two sisters swap parents and live new lives as someone else.

Pretty cool stuff but just like the bible unprovable to us regular folk. They can tell me the calculation or watching matter be in two places at once like a laser can do BUT until I see my alter ego I just can't buy it whether based on science or not.

hehe, medmaker420 nice thoughts, the religiously devout will always justify their beliefs in new ways. this topic is so massively huge that we wont be able to get through much of it on this forum but its really interesting to me so i dont mind even trying to dent it :)

other galaxies have definitely been found. we can see shit loads of stuff and "know" what is there by their basic elements due to the light they emit. i've done much more than just watch some episodes on TV, but yes i've seen all those ones ^_^

cant wait until 2014 when the JWST replaces hubble space telescope !

and in 2023 (i think ?) they are launching the planet finder telescope range. its 7 space telescopes all designed to receive different parts of the light spectrum and they are all mounted on a single bracket. that should be very cool indeed.

Robert A. Hienlen (awesome author) wrote a book called "Number of the Beast". A delightful romp through several fantasies. The main premise being that the number 666 actually represents the number of universes. 6 to the 6th to the 6th.

Take a couple of fun loving adults, mount a time machine in a space car, drive through 10 different story book worlds and you've got a great time. :D Very well written, witty, humorous and fun. :D One of the best reads in a long time.

from what i understand the bing bang itself was a result of two dimensions hitting into each other. If you look at the Hubble Deep Field pictures, it's actually now animated - you can look back in time into it, and it gets back to @ 14 billion years, and there's NOTHING. And then all of a sudden there's one galaxy, 2 galaxies, dozens, panning out now - hundreds, then millions, then billions.
You can think of our universe as a piece of paper - our space and time is all on that piece of paper. You can stack this piece of paper with other pieces of paper (universes) and they will not interfere with one another. And you can stack as much paper together as you want

hey H^2 O i believe that there are parts of our universe that we can't see due to the fact that they are accelerating away from us faster than the speed of light. they are not really breaking the universe's speed limit because in reality they are not traveling at all. more spacetime is being created in between us and them.

none... human mind cannot realize them, so we are constricted to ones we can perceive..but time and space is not all that it seems to be....step off a cliff and you will know ...briefly

there are limitless dimensions, and none at all.

all and none, happening at the same time, and no time at all

The only time I ever felt like I actually understood parallel or alternate anything was when I was able to move stuff while on shrooms (high school days). One time I thought I figured out the meaning of life BUT sorry to say I forgot to write it down SO you guys might have to figure it out on your own lol.

Isn't it funny that when we are in an alternate state we look and reason with things differently and understand them differently as well?

Not trying to turn this into mind altering substances SO back on track..

My only issue with evolution is that, why haven't our current monkeys evolved into humans themselves? I think alternate, parallel and anything else could be a religious conversation vs. scientific simply due to what the bible says versus what science does.

I saw the universe episodes and many more than once, I would LOVE to check out the dinosaurs that are in a parallel universe and see how they really acted.

Science is fuckin great, whether you only believe in the bible for the belief you MUST at least acknowledge that SCIENCE where things are actual SOLVED and figured out CAN make sense versus fictional stories written by humans ABOUT an all powerful g o d

What would we as the human race do IF actual "aliens" or alternate US'S come to earth to visit? What would you ask yourself or your other self AND would you already know what your other self was thinking since it is still you?

Another thought,

you know that little voice telling you right from wrong, what if that came from our "anally perfect" alternate person and then when we end up doing wrong that came from our evil alternate?

Brings a whole new perspective to the phrase "talking to yourself".

"Say, inside one single hair-tip in the space, there are Buddha-worlds as many as the atoms of all Buddha-Worlds. Inside those worlds, the Bhagavan may appear as being born in the Tushita Heaven; may appear have gone down from that heaven and entered his mother's womb; may appear as a newborn, have taken 7 steps and said that 'I am now on the margin of birth and death'; may appear as being in the palace, may appear as leaving home or practicing austerities; may appear as subduing demons, or achieved the Correct-Awakening, or turning the wonderful Dharma-wheel; may stay in the world for countless kalpas, rescue all living beings and make them get away from the suffering; may appear as in Nirvana; may reveal that all kalpas(eons) are in one kshana(moment), or one Kshana includes all kalpas, kalpas and kshanas do not increase or decrease, thus all living beings have not been extricated yet. From kshana to kshana, and universally in all worlds, the Bhagavan is constantly doing such various Buddha-Activities and never rest, but in fact he always does nothing."

(* One kshana is equal to one seventy-fifth of a second.)

"Such as, inside that single hair-tip in the space, there are infinite worlds. In those worlds, each infinitesimal thought of the Bhagavan universally reveals various majesties and principles of all Buddhas, and meanwhile he does nothing. Likewise, inside all hair-tips that spread over all universes, there are infinite worlds. For all atoms of those worlds, each atom contains worlds much more than the atoms of all Buddha-Worlds. In one kshana, in all those worlds, the various majesties and activities of all Buddhas are naturally and universally revealed. For example, may be born in heaven, may be in Nirvana, may have extricated innumerable Asamkhyeyas of living beings. In such a way, infinitesimal thought after infinitesimal thought unto the endless future, Bhagavans are constantly performing Buddha-Activities to benefit all living beings, never resting, even at the ultimate end of universes, and at the ultimate end of realms of all living beings. Meanwhile, the Buddha-Worlds do not decrease, the atoms do not increase. Why? Because all dharma(thing)s are like illusive flame, are unstable."

"For example, in this congregation, the great Bodhisattvas as many as atoms of ten Buddha-Worlds, are staying together in this area of 12 yojanas in Magadha state, but do not squeeze each other. Likewise, Each of those atoms contains infinite Buddha-Worlds. Those Buddha-Worlds, some are upward, some are downward, some are face to face, some are back to back, some are side by side, some are interpenetrating, and yet do not obstruct each other. "

3 dimensions, x, y and z axis equal 3 points of coordination, hence the term 3-D. That's what we can see, touch, hear, feel, smell and taste. Now how many are there past this...who the fuck knows because we can't comprehend further than a 3rd dimension. A 4th dimension would cross planes if I am not mistaken. Hell I don't know what I am talking about, only remember certain things from when I played D&D Planescape. :joint:

EDIT: Just did some skimming on Wikipedia about Spacetime. Basically we have 3 spatial dimensions in our universe and 1 time dimension. I kinda get lost after that, haven't smoked anything today so thinking that high and far isn't really possible for me right now hehe.

There is an emerging theory from some physicists that there are infinite universes (next to each other like bubbles, spread out over a sea, within one another, they haven't really addressed that as much as I've read.
One of the main points about it is that every decision you make, puts you in a new universe with that decisions outcome and there are universes out there for every possible outcome of every decision you make.

Who knows though.
Maybe we are all the same person. Or being I guess. Or maybe we our universe is the explosion on another universe. Like when we detonate a bomb, it has some similar effects as our universe... some.

apparently the "multidimension" thing is the reason why gravity appears so weak...because we're sharing our gravity with other dimensions

the whole multiverse theory is super super facinating, with the "bubble plane" as the poster above me said. Some people thing that the bubbles colliding made our dimension(s) or our universe
