Though its not the same for everyone, what strains help with these things?:
-edit- I love blueberry its a top 10 for me and it helps with anxiety but it gives me pretty heavy eyes and some of the other stuff
-Anti anxiety, light effect in torso (almost like it eases the tension in your chest/physiological pain)(not simply blissfull like narcotic kushes)
-motivating/focusing. but not energizing to the point that you HAVE to do something or can'nt fall asleep, not racey minded.
-Minimal sleep impact, any strains interfere less with REM sleep?
-minor social impact, more discrete (ex. less redeye/droopy eyes) less speech impact, easier to retrieve vocabularly and maintain coversation
NOT stoney, not couchlock
-Socially comforting, inhibits self consciousness, suave feeling or "fresh"- clear headed socially especially.
Some smokes I find myself confident but too impaired or anxious or fixated from the high/stone. Other smokes it makes me talkative but I'm left conversationally impaired, tong tied, too geeked up or too quiet

ex. a kush may put me in the mood to party, arousing, but may leave me in my own world, trip me conversationally make it hard to socialize.
ex. Other indicas may be to sedative, a thai or mexi sativa may make me anxious or leave me racey and too energized.
-Easy comedown- some strains let me down hard for weed, others let me down seamlessly leaving me feeling fresh and balanced..
-longer lasting and resistance to tolerance buildup, doses maintain their effectiveness and your not left wanting more more often

what strains do you think help?

I know theres strains out there that address most of this I've even tried some but can't put a name to them..

Trainwreck helps me with my social anxiety. And no, there is no strain that will effect REM sleep any more/less than another.

Hello,

For me, Blueberry and Blueberry crosses tend to alleviate some of the same problems.

Grape Krush

Indoor
A very productive hybrid of high quality. This plant exhibits partial to full leaf deformities of the "crinkle" type but with good structure and heavy bud production of large calyxes, a high yield plant. The buds express a strong sharp/fruity odor with a distinct sweet/grape flavor brought out in the cure. A strong, long-lasting head/body mix is evident in the finished product. An exciting, but not "racy" head, and a mild narcotic body, very euphoric and desirable effects that most seasoned heads prefer. Yields are above average.

Indoor Flowering 7 to 9 weeks

Yeah, once I read your thread title I already thought blueberry. F-13 might fit the bill as well. Keep in mind it's more "up", sativa, etc.

you could try Malawi Gold, Himalayan (Nepalese etc.), Blueberry etc. and hybrids thereof

THCV is good for leaving you with a clean head after a smoke --- you could try Triple Treat from Afropips

but personally I would not smoke cannabis regularly if I was experiencing issues with anxiety, nervousness, self-consciousness etc. ... and I would seriously consider not smoking at all if it was becoming a problem which was affecting my ability to function in the big wide world

anything with THC in is going to give you problems IMHO

and I am not just talking about anxiety while stoned, but anxiety as an after-effect of smoking e.g. the following day after a smoke

if I was you and I was smoking everyday (which I am guessing you are by the sounds of it) then I would try at least 7 days of not smoking anything at all --- also no coffee, no tea etc. for at least a week... especially not coffee and dope binges

after seven days if you are not experiencing a massive drop off in experiences of anxiousness and self-consciousness I would be amazed

it sounds to me like you are interpreting the anxiety and over-awareness etc. as something intrinsic to your mind, not seeing it as possible a side-effect of smoking...

but I am suggesting you might want to empirically investigate the possibility that the anxiety and self-consciousness etc. are actually a side-effect of smoking for many people... and not just something you will experience while high but also - in fact more so - the morning after a big smoke

IMHO the best thing you could do is not smoke every day and take plenty of long gaps between periods of smoking

far as I am concerned I do not find cannabis to be a social buzz - social buzzes for me are alcohol, MDMA (and cocaine) though I don't much like any of those three

cannabis for me is something I do at home or outside in nature --- I love the effect it has of sensory enhancement: sex, music, food, art such as books and good movies, and stimulating creativity... cannabis massively enhances my enjoyment of all of these in an unparalleled way

but the last thing I need when interacting with other people outside of the people I know and like is sensory enhancement --- I have a low opinion of humanity in general and I find being stoned is not helpful when dealing with people who have a negative agenda... and I would put most of humanity in that category

Very nicely put ngakpa, i can follow you a long way here. I also just like being myself when smoking and doing shit, I'm not anti social in anyway but tend to enjoy my own company when stoned, diggin' what ever it is i'm doing at the time...yes the awareness is great and i dont need anyone around to cluster my perceptions and interpretations.

On a side note....negative people kill a perfectly good buzz.....

It's also possible however that these 'problems' are there normally, but just more suppressed. Smoking, I find will highlight/bring out/make me think more about the current subconscious mind patterns I am currently in but am not as aware of when sober. I usually take this then as a reminder that there are issues I must sort through before I can smoke more regularly because otherwise these issues will spoil the high. You don't need any more then a couple of smoking sessions to realise what your suppressing. The next weeks I spend sober and working through those issues. Use pot as a tool. It won't help you 'escape'. That's what alcohol is for ;)

be amazed my friend, i quit cigs, weed, chocolate and alcohol for 5 years because of this, and it didn't help me at all. I'm back to just bud and a bit of caffein and the anxiety is just as strong as it was 10 years ago.

love potion2 lemon pheno, flo, or grape krush sounds like winners to me, i am a medical user who has some of those simptoms alieviated from smoking, however i agree also that if your having trouble sleeping maybe take a day off from smoking or a week, jason king recomends taking off a day every once in a while, it also helps the mmj be more affective as you wont have as high a tollerance

I know copy and pasting is lame, but this seems to be a topic many of us have some personal experience with as well as enjoying weed so here it goes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenytoin

Jack Dreyfus, founder of the Dreyfus Fund, became a major proponent of phenytoin as a means to control nervousness and depression when he received a prescription for Dilantin in 1966. Notably, he is believed to have supplied large amounts of the drug to Richard Nixon throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s. Dreyfus' experience with phenytoin is outlined in his book, A Remarkable Medicine Has Been Overlooked,[3]. Despite more than $70 million in personal financing, his push to see phenytoin evaluated for alternative uses has had little lasting effect on the medical community. This was partially because Parke-Davis was reluctant to invest in a drug nearing the end of its patent life, and partially due to mixed results from various studies.

Now I enjoy my weed as much as the next guy or maybe even a little more, but I have come to believe that Dilantin / Phenytoin works AMAZINGLY well to stop social anxiety / stress. This stuff is non-addictive, no side effects (for me), off patent (so dirt cheap), works in SECONDS and lasts 12 hrs, NON-NARCOTIC. I have passed a handful of these to many friends and it normally only takes about 4 or 5 over 48 - 72hrs before they feel so good that they "don't need one today". I am the same way, I only use them a few times a year during really high stress.

On the smoke side I am an all day everyday and love my Purple Kush, but it can be tough on the speech pattern if you have a low tolerance otherwise great!

Peace, :joint:

thanks for all your replies so far keep them coming!

Blueberry is amazing (Ive only tried one pheno dunno whos) but it made me very heavy eyed and a little too chill for what Im specifically looking for.

Ngakpa- If I stop smoking after around 7 days my body is back to "normal" the first few days I can be more irritable and feel a occasional sense of hopelessness or down, some anxiety. Most pronounced is a sort of physiological pain.. carries on days 1-5 after quiting, then eases away. After that I get on occasion the physiological "pain" or tightness in my chest (feels like endocrin system).
The anxiety is both side effect of smoking ( i feel its somewhat strain dependent?) while the rest is intrinsic and diet/exercise, chemical balance related.
There seems to have been strains I'd smoke for 5 days straight and every hit was like the first, wouldn't even tell I was coming down except "ah I feel good" even though i could tell I wasn't still high.

While smoking all the time even with the perfect strain Isn't the solution to my anxieties i still want this strain to enjoy as an alternative to a pharma pill in a situation where I want to both enjoy a substance and have some assistance (party,interview,date/hookup etc). I just don't want one thats so prominent and possibly detrimental socially (detrimental to me because of my issues)
Prescription meds are option I consider I am already on an SNRI. Ultimately I don't want to be on prescrip drug period, and use cannabis more for enhancement at random and true enjoyment, not just fix after fix like it is with some kushes and other strains.

I'm looking to get DJs true blueberry, not for the anxiety though.
flo or flodica are on my list and seem like they could help with anxiety: also what about mental floss, blue sat, sweet tooth, burmese kush, yunnan, afropipes fastblast?
more suggestions~!

:yeahthats

Your points ngakpa, are very true for cannabis in general. The most important point here, to me anyway, is that the sensory enhancement while interacting with people would not be a problem at all if smoking was allowed and tolerated.
