San Diego's Finest Cuts

Thanks for the advice on the pm. We have Sulphur burners and regularly spray with beneficial teas. And I will take blame for having PM at various times in the last 4 years. And I would be a liar to day that I've never seen PM.

Some strains are very succeptable like the Romulan...where others are very resisitant. Now...we all can do things to prevent it and/or control it. You wouldn't believe how many stories I hear about people seeing it at week 6 or so and not knowing how to treat it just let it go...

We can all agree there is a difference between picking up a cut and noticing PM on the stalk or lightly on the leaves-which I will admit I've been guilty of doing. But that's a huge difference than someone getting a cut from me and vegging for 3-4 weeks and then seeing PM at week 4 or so...

So I will take my blame, but the best thing is prevention. Then when you do see it treat it right away. There is not excuse for guys saying they lost an entire garden to PM which is fully treatable. I'd take PM any day of the week than an outbreak of SPIDER MITES!

Ps-another great product is Eagle 20. Oh...and I'm APE.

So don't flame me...just want to own up to our mistakes but also even out the discussion a lil bit.

Ape knew that was you, but.....

anyway's got some things that came through you, very little trouble w/ pm 'cept one and as far as i know it could have been my error. just so you know i had at least 4-5 things on your list. what ever reason we never met no worries just wanted to chime in and say wat up and thanks. the bro who gave me the gear knows i am greatful as well =). oh yeah and i was not concerned about it too much in the first place. see shans quote below.

I just have to third this, because I think it's a serious issue. I also brought home some nice PM from the Chem Ds I got from PNC. I've worked with ape a couple of times in the last few years and everytime his stuff comes with PM. Be aware..you bringing stuff from PNC, it most likely has PM, so treat it. Only thing works for me is Zone/Penetrator and that takes several applications.

I'm glad to have access to the genetics, but the PM will infest your whole garden.

well you got the stuff i'da told ya about foilar as well w/ penetrator

what up ape?! long time no see round these parts! good to have you back...you know ive done my fair share of bitchin when your over at the pad....and everyone here has a right to say what they are saying....but just so you dont feel alienation from a city of growers you have done so much for, how bout we drop the pm thing for one minute,(and just one minute, as i have to go home and burn sulfur!haha) cuz its been a looooong time since i, or anyone else on this thread has expressed how thankful we all are for you holding this shit down the last few years. THANKS MY BROTHA! now, get your ass back in your mom room and get rid of that infernal, insidious powdery/downey mildew!!!!!!
---and no, im not doggin anyone out for calling it out, believe me, ive done more then my share of cussin....and i think everyone here is being respectful w thier complaints...but i remember growing(allegedly) back in the day when everyone had ONE cut they grew, and since noone knew who was growing, that was all you had...so thanks again man....sub

sub- you know i was happy to see those genetics w/ or w/ out pm going to try a couple of things i see here and do closed off comparison. zone is what i knew of.....we'll see how others fare. going your route tho and going to make seeds of my own and grow up from there to at least a partial degree.

Whenever I bring home a new cut, I think of it like I just brought home a new girl from the bar...I assume she's dirty, and I protect myself accordingly...whenever you start dating, you quarantine her from the other parts of your life you've got going, don't you?

true that Shan.

Thats a dormant spray... All you needed was a lil Baking soda and soap :2cents:

When the tree losses its leaves spray Liqui-Cop with some horticultural oil... I do this for my fruit trees three times every winter, once when winter starts, once half way through winter, and once before the buds open... its a good practice for a home orchard grower :joint:

thank you

thank you

Thank you Ape.

Thank you to all who have posted something positive and for the knowledge dropped here that we all have shared to make this community what it is today.

And thank you to all of you that have helped me personally, you know who you are.

Be well

Guys one quick question. I usually will run my trim through a kief tumbler after it dries, should I do that with the stuff that has small amounts of PM or chuck it? And what should I do with my cabinet when I'm done with this go? I was thinking the spores must have gone into my carbon filter and fan and all other places. Should I bomb it, scrap it, bleach it, whats the best course of action? Thank you for your input.

I personally have no qualms using plant material with trace amounts of PM on it for edibles. I have no doubt that commercially grown fruits / vegetables / grains all have their similar issues. The cooking in butter, then the baking of the tainted goodies, followed by stomach acids leaving me feeling very comfortable ingesting in that manner. I personally would NOT smoke anything that had shown PM.

I'm a fan of bleach for hard core nuke em / kill em / clean up. Just be sure to wear protective gear. More than once i have left the grow space feeling shitty from breathing in the chlorine fumes.

Peace

I've made bubblehash with herb I thought had too much pm on it - my logic was that the pm would strain off through the screens and stay in the ice water. With kiefing it, you're liable to retain all the mold. I have, in lean times, smoked bud with pm on it but I wouldn't do it regularly as I worry about lung infections etc.

To clean my room after my last PM I bought a Sulfur Candle from ebay (basically a can of sulfur with a wick) that burned for about 2 days and completely reeked out the room for a week - burned my eyes just to walk in there at first, but it seems to have worked.

Ummmm....lets stay positive..

Ummmm....lets stay positive..

I just want to say I have gotten the Pm from PNC in the past with some Strawberry Creme I picked up from them. Noticed it in about the 3rd week of Flower. I used a little Microbutinol as Humble suggested to everyone here. Problem solved. where it had been a little necrosis existed. However it did comeback just before harvest. Maybe I did not spray enough. If you look in the pic below you can see that the Strawberry creme(christmas tree) is showing signs on the bottom leaves( you may have to save and view on your PC for much larger size and clarity). This was week 7 after a spray with microbutinol at week 3. It did not seem to take away from production. I have also not shut the room down since either. That was the last grow and while I cleaned tables, rez, and such I did not clean the walls, nor did I change out my filters, or anythig else. I have seen no signs of it this run and I have 2 weeks left soooo.... It is manageable. Just don't procrastinate it. I believe if you are going to sell a product, it should be in perfect condition, unless stipulated before hand(with a disclaimer).

On a positive note However, I also have to weigh the chances of getting say, Cindy 99(pineapple), anywhere else, without having to grow from seed, and have it turn out to be legitimate. While I like a little OG or Kush from time to time, I prefer Something a little more uniqe. But all most people carry is OG or Kush lines with some variation. Not my cup of tea. Thanx PNC.
Heres another thing. Everything I have grown from PNC, whether Strawberry creme with PM or any of the other I have run, have always came out LEGIT.
If that is not enough, the other day I needed some of the SAME Strawberry Creme(The same cut I had PM with the last time) and some Cindy 99(pineapple) and it was delivered! What? Yeah , delivered! I am pretty sure with out much deliberation that I won't be finding the service PNC has been offering(all the way from Long beach) anywhere else, with PM or not. So I gotta give them some, thanx for the great support PNC.

ya BHO or ISO is the only way you can smoke PM infected buds/trim....

Where is the evidence for this claim? Obviously it cannot be a good idea to smoke mold but i still fail to see how anything too bad would result. We are breathing in live spores and mold all the time - i dont see how inhaling combusted dead spores could be that much worse in terms of irritating/infecting your throat.

I am planning to make ice hash out of the plants I have with pm. I figured collecting only active chemicals wouldn't leave any nutrient source for the mildew and once things dried out + were lit on fire this would ensure safety.

Fair enough. Didnt want to be "that guy" I was just curious. I want to know because I have a few plants with PM and im insecure about my healthy crop :) haha. I am harvesting my green crack on wednesday and will post pics of the somewhat meager yield. No visible PM but it smells a tiny bit like mildew when you smell the buds.

sorry..The white nectrine next to the plum had fire blight..so thats why i hosed down the trees around my property...

ya..iam gonna use some SUBDUE..IN VEG... that shit is the end of any p.m..downey mildew and a host of other crap fungi...also starting to use 10 percent skim milk for spot treats..

the green cure works on most..but when the soil or coco is got mycillia fungi...gotta toss it or oven bake that shit into the great beyond.

A spray will not get ride of fire blight!!!! You must cut the infected end of the branch off I believe 12 inches below the visible infection point (12 in. below where the black and normal stem meet), otherwise it will move down the tree eventually killing it, then disinfect the pruning shears with a 10% bleach solution :2cents:

I have Heavenly white and Double delight nectarines, some of my favorite fruits :woohoo:

I have to watch my Asian pears more than the nectarines though...

Also a bleach spray kills PM (with lights off), I use 6 tablespoons of bleach to 1 gallon of water, it works and does not hurt the plant :joint:

Or you can use 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of plain liquid dish soap to 32 fluid ounces of water :)

Much more cost efficient and just as effective :ying:
