In the UK they were Hero Turtles. Ninjas and related ... stuff ... was illegal. Brought back some jammies and sheets for my nephew but, he was unamused. "But, Uncle Freeze, that's just ... wrong." Oh, well.

Being a non Brit, non Turtles fan, I never got the full story. I don't know if anything happened or it was fear that something might happen but they'd outlawed nunchucks, throwing stars etc and when the Turtles showed up years later, they got lumped in. I want to say it was a holdover from the early Bond days that inspired a ninja craze but ....
I think the movie got away with it, not really sure.
It was like how they banned power rangers here lol

remember when my parents bought me the first turtles movie, I came home, and they gave it to me, wow
that was so nice of them
I learned my english from the show
Leo was my favourtie (loved the blue, it was calm, relaxing, and he was the cool-smart one)
my friend would always say, Im leo, so I would be the purple one (next favorite colour, and personnality, he was the brainiac, and his rod seemed powerful, compared to shurikens and nunchuks)

i liked Leonardo because he was the leader, besides Master SPlinter, and he carried katanas/samurai swords, and he was really smart. Michaelangelo was a lazy stoner. Like me. But he wasn't very bright, and numchucks are weak ass farming implement-turned-weapons on the list of shit to kill people with
