I dug too deep I think

I wish I could have left mine out longer like yours...but the tempatures have dropped here and the settings are perfect for mold...So I freaked out and bailed...but at least my room smells cool now!!

I hope you have an awesome harvest bro - enjoy the season

Thanks bong.

That's a shame, but a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush... and your room is smelly :D

If it's any consolation I think you did alright for a first attempt. I think the vast majority make the mistake of harvesting too early in their first grow, including myself!

k+ for your badass grow!
after reading the increased planting method thread i tried it out on a tomato plant and loved the results. im surprised not many people are doing this on here. (or are there?)
keep up the good work!

I would also do my best to cover them when raining. Some nice big beach umbrellas might just do the trick as they don't stand out as much as some random plastic thing..

Praying here for good weather!

Thanks.

Yeah, as far as I know I'm the only one doing this type of layering here on ICmag at this time, although silverback (RIP) said he was planning to try it on Cannabis, but he never got the chance before his accident.

I think we will see more people doing it as word spreads and people start to realize the benefits of this technique and how easy it is to do.

Thanks dubite.

It's looking like I might just get away with it here, and I should be good till at least the middle of next week, which would mean all the plants except for the task should be more or less done, but the task will only be 2-3 days short of the recommended flowering time (60 days).

I think I may try covering her if that's the case and she is the only one left, but there could be fairly persistent rain over the course of a couple of days, so I'm not sure if it would be in vain. Still, I think it's a promising sign that all but one plant are not showing any signs of PM.

I've just been smoking some dried trim from a few early TW#2 buds, and it's got me just about as ripped as the bud I was buying, so that has to be a good sign too I think :D

I was going to save the trim to try and make hash with, but the only bud I have right now is drying, so it has to be done lol :yeahthats

Well I tried to cover them with tarpaulin, but could not get it high enough to clear the buds, and some of the Blowfish colas were slightly squashed in the process, so I had to scrap that idea :cuss:

We just got some rain too, although not too much thankfully and it should stay clear for another two more days.

I'll probably be harvesting then, as it looks like it will be raining for at least the next 2 days on and off after that.

I don't think it's worth risking another two days of rain...

I will forget if I don't post this so before I read any further(still on pg1.)
I want to do this but with a Topped plant and only bury one of the tops.....reading.

El_Professor thanks again

I don't see any specific reason to top, but was considering it as an alternative to bending the whole plant, which could put greater stress on the stem since it would need to be bent more. Or would it? I'm not sure if there might be more of a danger of the branch splitting away from the stem. I suppose I'll just have to try it and pray :D

I'm not that good with photoshop, but I'll try and illustrate what I mean

picture.php

A = un-topped
B = topped

I considered crushing the stems, but I think that just makes them more woody/less flexible. Perhaps I should take the fan off them and raise the light lol !?

Layering will work fine with cannabis. Ihave and older thread called "Yeild increasing planting method", that discusses both layering and mounding. Layering is when you lay the plant over and root any part of it in an effort to develop an independent plant. It works fine with cannabis. When you plant a plant that you intend to layer, lean it at planting time and plant it crooked so that when you start leaning the plant, youre not pulling against the trunk.

Mounding is another very good way to grow cannabis. Moundning is the act of burrying the plant deep to where all of the branches are below grade with just the top half of the plant extending above the soil level. Each branch will develop roots and will become a quasi independent plant. Holes for mounded plants should be larger as it becomes the equivalent of growing 3or 4 plants in a single hole.

good luck

My pleasure Marshmello. Hope it works for you as well as it did for me!

I hope someone can use this technique on a plant grown in full sun, as these were no where near their full potential in that respect. Considering that by flowering they were only getting perhaps 2-3 hours of direct sun a day in the best case, and as little as 1 hour in the case on the smaller Trainwreck, they didn't do too badly.

Most of the remaining buds got the chop around 10 days ago. I left all but the densest buds on Trainwreck#1 which was in the worst position of all the plants, and spots of PM were starting to appear on many of the lower buds. I think Trainwreck needs a good bit of sunlight to grow dense buds.

I literally only just finished trimming a few hours ago...

It's been basically: trim, eat, trim, sleep, eat, trim, eat... for the last 2 weeks or so :yoinks:

I can't believe how much bud I got... and super frosty trim :woohoo:

I'm not sure exactly how much yet, but I have five 12+ foot lines that are basically full with drying trimmed bud, although some is just popcorn on a stick. The Taskenti did produce some buds that are quite dense though, and it's partly due to good fortune that I did not get more bud rot.

I lost perhaps 1 or 2% to bud rot/PM/caterpillars in total. I was lucky because I found bud rot just starting in a few places on the Taskenti, and it would probably have been much worse had I left her out for a few more days which turned out to be very wet!

So I think I harvested just about the right time in the end. Judging from the Trainwreck trim that I have been smoking, my timing could not have been much better. I can't remember being so baked for a very long time :woohoo:

I'll try and get some pics of the drying buds in the next few days :)

In the mean time, here are some pics I took a day or two before the main harvest.

Here's the plot - Taskenti top left, Blowfish top right, Trainwreck#1 bottom right, and Trainwreck#2 just going off the frame in the bottom left. Only popcorn left on her though.

Thank you Brother and Hollaachu :)

Today I started to tidy up the plot, so I got a few shots of the roots which I pulled out of the ground.
