if a nurse is working for less than 25-30 an hour they are stupid as hell.

the demand is huge, there is no reason to take a lesser pay, unless you are a shitty nurse with no options.

nursing is a bank ass job for a 2 year degree.

The only way to get paid that around here is to be a RN, LPN's make around 15-20 an hour.

You're wrong. The nursing shortage is a myth. Many four your BSN students are having trouble finding work anywhere but a long-term center, which really sucks.

my mind under 30 an hr is junk

You're pretty much right, you need a combined minimum of like 35$ to make it have shit these days, especially in my area. I make like 20 bills an hr and couldnt afford to live alone and have anything but a roof over my head.

nokuy I don't mean to get personal brotha but why not try your hand at upping your operation by a few thousand watts and have that be your 9-5?

You look around and what do you see, pain suffering and misery. It's not the way that the world was meant - it's a pity you don't understand!" ozzy
we didn't evolve from APES to be other people's slaves. Life is too short to work a 9-5...

old lady is a nurse, works 2 jobs for like 18 hrs daily...rarely has time off. Knocks
back $42 or so per hr according to what shift differential is for whichever facility
she is working in that night. I do freelance journalism and programming for graphics
and I/O routines. I make an average of $75/hr or so. Together we do about $117
per hr or so. But, dudes, we dont live paycheck to paycheck! We are off grid
and have no-debt or rent or food bill or any of that establishment bs. We make
our own food, power, and water and live in an Earthbag design house that we
made by ourselves.
You dont have to be the establishments number percentage of a poll or something,
use your brains. Think...what can YOU do for YOU? Be Free....peace

You might could adjust your tax withholding, to where you are claiming 1 or 2 dependents, then you will actually be bringing home more of your 20/hr. Most people claim 0 and loan a private bank a lot of their money. I hate the idea of loaning a bank my money and asking permission for it back every year, like its a privledge to actually have the money I earned. I think if every business filed 1099s for their employees and each person had to pay their taxes at the end of the year, our "trusted representatives" would mostly be voted out of office.

As for 20/hr not being enough, it depends on what your actually doing. I've done work sometimes to where what I charged (65/hr) didn't near justify me doing it, but I did it anyways cause I told them I would. That type of work is for companies with employees. I was one of those employees once and don't every see myself doing it again. Being paid by one entity sucks because they own you, they tell you when to work, and what you'll be doing. They know you won't quit because then you'll have 0 income, especially now because there aren't any jobs out there. Back in line slaves.

Yep. Granted there are people less well off out there than even 20ish, 20ish is pretty bad unless you're working 40 hrs a week.
Life's expensive, and I vote with the poster above advocating self-reliance to try and make that a bit better.

i make $14/hour and service HUGE loading dock doors, airplane hanger doors, etc. i have my own truck ... but you think you got the short straw?

i am on a 40 ft ladder almost all day long

3 people have died JUST in the branch i work for (nationwide corporation) in the last 6 months

while your sleeping in your booth my teeth are chattering

go to school, then you can expect more ... and if you don't, stop whining

how many people have died in your profession in the last six months?

EDIT: one of those people that died jumped off a JLG lift 60' in the air and landed headfirst on a 36" thick concrete floor, made the local news even

BINGO!!! Self employment is your only protection from uncle sam. It also keeps you from being a wage slave, for someone else. If you were getting paid what your worth there would be no point in having you right? Time clocks? Overtime? Fuck that. How many of you can actually tell me how much you paid in taxes last year? Very few.

I'm on a daily wage--8 regular hours then 1.5 times that for the other 4. Seven days a week for usually 6-8 weeks or more.

Just figured out my hourly pay--$70. But it sucks to be offshore all the time...

I don't think it's really a myth, but the openings are not everywhere and hospitals have cut back a lot due to the economy. Things will pick up if and when the economy improves. Nursing has gone through these kinds of cycles since at least 1979 that i'm personally aware of. You can't deny the demographics though, as the population ages we're gonna need more nurses and they aren't being trained.
I would never work night shift again for almost any amount of money. It really f**ks you up imo.
