Any way to use Credit Card and still be anonymous?

you could aslo get a fat cash advance and then roll the balance onto a diff card... 0% introductory rate? do those still exist? I haven't used (had) credit in years... cash and gold only.
I don't think you can transfer a balance from a cash advance. They don't want you running off with cash. 0% rates are much fewer because of the credit crunch.

Prepaid credit cards or gift cards are the best way to remain anonymous. You pay cash and get a credit card. I think there is a limit to the balance you can carry, but I'm not positive. Should be good for orders up to like $500.

Cash advances are one of the worst deals ever. If you use the credit card and pay off your balance, the cash advance gets paid last, so it can keep revolving.

Another thing I thought of was finding someone with a business who can accept credit cards, and having them run my credit card for whatever ammount I need, and just give me the cash minus a fee for them. But I don't know anyone who can do that, so I guess it doesn't help me much.
That's against the card association rules. If they do that, you are asking them to risk their merchant account.

I thought they were requiring a SSN now to activate Gift Cards. If so, don't they x-ref for legitimacy with a validating routine?

Thanks All

Drug stores, some super markets, lots of different places carry them. Prepaid gift cards generally cost like $3.95-$5.95 (I think it depends on the amount). I think the largest denomination available is $500 (this may have changed, but the largest I have ever seen is $500, but you're going to have to look a little for it because the biggest that most stores carry is $100).

The prepaid debit cards are the ones that require a social security number (I think) because they can be reloaded and anti-money laundering laws require certain information to be collected about consumers in this case (because it basically amounts to opening a bank account). You are going to need to put in a name (doesn't matter which, it's not used in most payment systems) and the address you want to ship to, but this is only important if you are using mail order. You don't really need to register them if you are only using it in person.

Do not buy these on a credit card. Many stores won't let you but if you manage to do it, it sets off huge alarm bells in the fraud system of your credit card company. It's a legit transaction, but I have a friend who did this and had to argue with the credit card company to get the card reactivated because they flagged it.

all safeways and walmarts carry the up to $500 cards.
You have to make sure you get the gift cards and not the prepaid debit cards, the ones that say like "$25-500" are usually prepaid debit cards, but if you can find the $500 denom ones then there you go!
