Hey wt are you using salt to soften your water? I think that is a big NO/NO. Better check that out. I am pretty sure the salt will cause nute lock. Better check it out.

I have never had a problem like that. Do a search but I wouldn't know what forum to search. But I know I've read that here sometime. WT I did a bit of a search. Thread called soft water I believe. They act like the salt is deadly after a while. Better check this out closely.

Take a look at these........

I got mine shipped for $150 and its twice the unit as the one you have posted. Sediment filter, 2 stages of carbon, r.o. filter, and Two dissolved mineral filters. Water comes out at 0ppm w/no chloramines, or anything else.

Look for the "Water General" on ebay.

How much does one of those cartridges filter? How much to replace? Guess I'll go look. Does WT need DI water? Wouldn't drinking water quality be good enough?

Ask oldgreyhair about the r.o. system. He knows all about them and how they work. Good luck with the grow. Hope they can bounce back.

Hank, that unit is $150 delivered. I use one that provides drinking water, passed through a 3rd carbon filter to "sweeten the taste", and DI water. The DI water is completely demineralized. It does not cost more for for the DI option so I got it. I passed on the pressure tank and saved $10, now i wish I had it fro when you need water on the fly.

The cartridges are 15-20, but they last for 5000 gallons or more, thats about forever for me.

Heck DI water can be used as a replacement for distilled. At least that what we did at several labs I worked at. I was just trying to save our boy a couple of bucks. :2cents: :joint:

ok, someone please explain how this fucking Ph meter is supposed to work. I calibrated it in 7.0 solution and set in a fresh cup with tap water and it read 6.4. 2 hours later i did the whole process over and after 1 min. it read 6.2, 20 mins later it reads 6.7.....WTF! If I can never get a straight reading from this thing, how am i supposed to adjust anything?

edit: by the time i finished typing that its gone to 6.9....FUCK

Hey sns,

Assuming 6.4 is correct,
it could be
"accurate to +/- 0.3 pH"
???

I would take a few readings, and split the diff.

Edit:
Just reread where it's drifting back up to 6.9.

Is this the same cup of tap water?

Is this a new meter?
If so, you might need to soak the electrode for a couple of hrs in 7.0 buffer solution.
(They're usually shipped dry. And the initial wetting takes a while.)
Then, calibrate.

Hopefully, someone with more practical experience will chime in soon.

Edit,
Temp affects accuracy.
Did the temp of the "test subject" change during testing?

Edit
Static electricity can affect accuracy, too...theoretically...

Who's PH meter are you usin;, Hanna, Nutradip, Milwaukee. Many of the cheaper ones are sh!T.

If your not using a QUALITY METER, like a Nutradip, the GH test drops for like $7.50 at the hydro store are the way to go.

On a new meter if the probe is dry, or has film on it, it may need to be hydrated for a couple hours before it will give a true reading.

Don't forget to leave the probe in water when you are not using it. don't let the tip dry out. Put some water in the cap.
