calyx itself turning white???

hey guys.
i have a realy odd problem i think! my plants are about 5 weeks into flower and stopped virticle growth about 2 weeks ago. at that stage the flowers began to change. the very top 2 or 3 bud leaves turned light green and the top of the bud was completely white. over the last 2 weeks those white tops have diveloped into actual bud, but the whole lot is bright white. not just the trichs, and not just the hairs, the actual plant matter the calyx itself is white, like there is no clorophyl in it at all.
SPECS.
last res contained, flower nutes, canna boost, cannazym, pk 13/14
400 w cooltube vented room volume in 4 minutes
dwc hydro, scrog style
ph.5.8
temps, min 14 celcius max 20 celcius

i assume its a deficiency or desease as ive grown the same strain 4 times now and this hasnt happened before. my computer wont let me get the pics of my camera but soon as i work it out ill post pics
any help is muchly appreciated

They are working, i was going to ask how close your light was to the tops i was thinking light bleaching from being to close but that looks like its turning Albino, but wait and see what others think

thanks 4 ur input shaun. its weird as, the light is about 9 inches of the tops but i dont think that is the issue as about 2 thirds the buds are like this but they are all over the screan not just under the lamp itself the one in the picture is right up agains the door of my cupboard but there are others directly under the light at the same stage of whatever it is. im not normaly a dummy when it comes to weed but this is like nothing ive ever heard of

oh one more thing. the cupboard is only just over 4 sqare fee so its basicly 100w per square foot. i know this is double whats needed however its worked for me every other grow. not sure if this could be a factor

like there is no clorophyl in it at all

its like you said ... , youre looking at an albino , which can occur from time to time ... , are some leaves affected as well ??

my OldTimeMoonshine keeper was a partial albino as well ... , yield was lacking a bit therefore and she had to go after some runs ...

hey fj
dont know bout the albino theory cos ive grow the plant 4 times total and they were all succesive clones of each other so same plant but this is the first time its happened. and only the very top 2 or 3 leaves are pale green the rest of the foliage is a nice rich green. its just the calyx that is white and only the top half inch of bud so far but its getting bigger slowly. and its yeaild is usualy about 3 oz dry out of 1 plant in 2 square feet so not too bad

it does look similar. although my plnt is an indica dominant and extreely resnous. is this albino thing legit? or is it just dubbed albino cos it looks that way but its actualy something else?

Hi Clint,
My guess would be the 100w/sf light level. That's fairly intense. I've never heard of an albino plant, though that doesn't mean anything. That it's a clone (from a plant that didn't do that before) argues against the albino theory. Sure is frosty...

Looks to me like they are bleaching out. Try moving your light up just an inch or 2. I just recently had the exact same issue. Moved the lamp (400w air-cooled HPS) up one inch and everyone is happy again. That spot won't regain its color just watch the plant below that mark to make sure it does not continue bleaching out. Just my thoughts. Grow on!

Cool didn't know plants could go albino :) I had a group of calyxs do that before, had no clue what was going on. It was on a lower part opf the plant so def not light bleaching.

2 very good theorys guys. another thing i should have mentioned is that there are 2 plants in the dwc and both are displaying the same thing, so i asume from that it must be an environmental cause not ginetic. have moved my light up so hopefuly that will fix it. my first thaught was that it was a random symptom of a nitrogen deficiency as i had been using pk13/14 for the week prior to the pics taken but im starting to lean toward the bleaching theory aswell. time will tell, if the new growth o longer comes in white then ill be stoked. although i am looking forward to having a cone of white weed lol

hmm was just thinking bout it and the one thing that leads me away from thinking its pleaching is that its not concentrated to the buds directly under the light. its equily as bad on the ones at the edge of the cupboard that is noticibly dimmer that under the cool tube. oh what a canundrum lol will have a billy and ponder it some more

First time hearing about albino calyxes too...interesting. Anyone know if their are any traits that come with that if its not bleaching? :joint:
