home depot has fish emulsion fertz and shultz, those would work, they mite have superthrive also.

containers, get some one or two gallon depending on how many seeds u got going

buy some good soil, buy some vermiculite and perlite, they also should sell fine grade dolimite lime for the ph, but ive heard its in the cement section and not the garden, ive never seen it in the garden section and didnt here about were they keep it unitll after i ordered it online.

timers they got

material for carbon filter i cant answer but im guessing they have what u need to make one, try the search function on diy carbon filters.

Not sure about a carbon filter (I'm betting HD would be your best bet for that, maybe) but everything else you listed can be bought at either place.

Pots, timer, soil & nutes - Can be bought at both Walmart & Home Depot

Fan - You can get inline fans at both Walmart & Home Depot, tho personally I wouldn't use them. I would go with the Stanley Blower Fan Mod. Walmart carries the Stanley blower, not sure about Home Depot.

Carbon Scrubber - I would follow DurbanPoison's DIY - Build a Carbon Scrubber For Dummies! for building yourself a scrubber. Activated carbon (aquarium section) and pantyhose are available at Walmart. All the rest of the hardware you need to build the scrubber is available at Home Depot.

If you have an Ace hardware or a Lowes, those should also have all the parts that Home Depot would carry.

I imagine Target or KMart would also have all the parts that Walmart would carry.

You will probably also need some beneficial nematodes to kill all of the bloody gnats that you will get in the total shite soil you are apt to get there. Better than going to poison near your plant.
Oh, and they do have superthrive for sure. And don't forget your non sulfurous molasses.

i think its wise to not frequent grow shops, people forget that people get followed home still to this day, order online or buy it at home depot or somewere local is always in my opinion a good mindset to have for safety, this really shouldnt be a sacrafice for alot of us, but not all.
