Wow, seriously, those are some of the craziest fox tails I've ever seen. Going to be a bitch to trim, it looks. But amazing to toke, I'm sure!

K.J. - thanks - the trimming isnt too bad - those foxtails are calyxes all the way down
growMEDS and mrred - cheers for stopping by!

i have the Arjan's haze 3 and the MLI properly dried and jarred now - both yielded almost exactly 1g/watt which is ok

smoke wise the MLI is nice but not that special yet (i'll keep trying it :) but probably not a keeper for me especially as i have the 50 odd seeds i made.

the arjan's haze 3 is lovely - not the most potent but pretty strong once it's crept up on you. very social and very smooth (as in not racy) for a sativa. i like it! i want to run this one again as i feel i could do a little better with it.

If you want racy, go for Royal Hawaiian taken at day 50. Wowzers! Maybe it was a fluke and I just got a nice pheno?

Wow that is one of the most crazy fox tails I have ever seen. It is insane that it grew like that. It has to be something in the genetics or something. Maybe that 250HP isn't enough update to a 400w or something. It still looks like good medicine enjoy the smoke bredren.

Nope, it's not the 250, it's genetic. I work with a 250 and my last nugs were tight, tight, tight. But the first grow had some foxtailing (though NOTHING like the beautiful foxtails above).

BrotherGanga - K.J. is right - it's 90% expression of the genetics. This is the second time ive run it indoors and after the first time i did some research on foxtails and dreading. High N, High temps and too much light can encourage it and this time they were grown in half the N guano (some of my other plants ran short and yellowed a bit) the summer temps may have encouraged it a little but not much.
as for getting a bigger light if anything i would go the other way and get a 150 because i cant keep up with smoking all the weed i get from the 250!
looking at the lumens/distance though, a 250 is pretty much as good as a 400 if you get the buds the right distance away - about 6 inches from the top.

outdoors it was more even short foxtails all around the buds and a lot more leafy but that is to be expected.

osf - thanks - im coming to check out your thread now - more Black Forrest pics soon. it' more than half filled the screen in a week and no sign of flowering yet! - it looks happy though.

Irie_Lion - thanks for the compliment! -you are welcome to try ;) i would be flattered for sure.

cheers

the third Black Forrest turned out to be a hermi so it will be chucked. - now i have one female which is in the flowering cab, filled the screen pretty much and just looking like it is thinking about flowering.

the male i will probably clone and sling the original seed plant. the clone i flowered in order to sex them has been in my greenhouse and i've been collecting some pollen off it.

in other news - i was expecting a good yeild off the NL i flowered for 10 weeks - it seemed bone dry today and weighed well over 100 grams - i paper bagged it and will weigh again before i post the final weight but i'm certain i will have broken the 1.5g/watt barrier with this plant.

You keep amazing me with how much you can yield from such a small area!
Actually it's also impressive how much you can yield from such a small amount of soil really - I'm definitely having trouble yielding more than 30 grams from a plant in a 6.5L pot, and having such a large plant is forcing me to water daily when the plants are in full flower.

Do you ever reuse soil? Or is it freshly mixed every time?

thanks mate - i do re-use my soil but not to grow weed, i top dress my veggie garden with it. having been a keen gardener for years i have had crop rotation drilled into me so wouldn't use it for cannabis as it is likely to be deficient in those very things that cannabis needs. it gives me great germiniation with carrots and parsnips though :moon:

-----

sorry to blow my own trumpet but, having just checked and verified the weight for the NL, i just broke my own record with a Dr Atomic NL - getting 1.6 grams/watt. :joint:
in fairness though i have seen Dr atomics NL cited as a high yielder so perhaps it is to be expected as i dont really choose strains based on yield.
i wish i knew the secret! - but i would say the major factors are:

1. Distance from buds to light - the more you can get to the optimum distance, the more decent colas you will get. (5-6 inches for a 250). i find scrog the best way to achieve this.
2. Big pots. i use the biggest i can fit into my cab. last run wat 4 x 12 litres. this run i have cut the rims off some 15 litre ones so i can squeeze them in.
3. Veg them for a long time. i do 4-6 weeks unless i know them to be very stretchy.
4. flower them for a long time - this way you get better smoke and more weight (the NL mentioned above was flowered for 10 weeks)
5. Buy a good reflector - i use an ecotechnics diamond. i reckon it gives me more light going downwards.

having said all that, quality should be the major concern for the home grower, i have considerable trouble smoking all the weed i get from my cab and i would happily sacrifice yield for quality every time.

good luck.

V.

blackone - i would say 30grams from 6.5 litres is about right for an average yeilding strain. my pots were twice as big and i got just over 60 for my haze and MLI. if you are having to water every day though you should consider using bigger ones and training to keep the hight down if neccessary.

osf - yeah still stretching and the screen is about full - soon the only way will be upwards! whether i get away with this or not is still in question ;)

oldbootz - thanks for stopping by!

---

got the last plant in yesterday which was another UK Cheese. i was warned about lack of stretch/slow growth in this cut but mine seem to be having a good go at a stretch. may have an overgrow 'problem' but i would prefer that to undergrow anyday :joint:
