I meant to ask you guys about this a few weeks ago but I forgot to. 3 weeks or so ago I got 2 bags so I could transplant my plants. I already had a partial bag and as soon as I opened one of the new bags I noticed that something was different about it. I thought it was just dryer than the stuff I already had and it just looked different because of it. But a few days later a friend of mine asked me if I had heard about them changing the formula for it (Ocean Forest). As soon as he said that I remembered thinking that the new stuff seemed to be a little different. My friend said that the owner of the grow store that I bought this from told him that they had changed the formula. I don't remember exactly what he said they did to it though. Has anyone else heard about this or noticed a difference in it?

Or am I imagining things and is someone full of it?

I just got off the phone with a guy that told me what the deal is with this. He said they have another distribution facility in North Carolina or something now and that the stuff coming from there has pine bark in it, instead of redwood bark that's used in the original/ the stuff that's distributed on the west coast. They supposedly decreased the amount of perlite in it too and it doesn't have as much moisture in it when it's shipped now. He says he thinks it's better than the original stuff.

Hopefully the east coast folks can get the stuff for $8 a bag now like on the west coast.

I should have asked him about that, but I called right at 4 and he was closing. But I just got a couple bags from the guy about a month ago and it was the same price still ($19.99 a bag :wallbash:). He said it's a "lot lighter" and easier to ship now. So yeah, you would think the price should come down some.

I like making my own, then the dumpster Union robs me! It seems a good mix is around, then they take it away and not the bodies that did that!

I just use FFOF for all stages of growth and no issues to date whether it be fresh cuts, germing seeds, veg or flower.

About to get into making my own mix and see how that does as far as cost savings.

8$ a bag? Wish I could get it that cheap. My local areas are somewhere near 20$. It works well for. If I did huge grows I'd make my own mix. But I go through soil so slowly I just buy a bag once in a blue moon and call it good.

I use fox farms light warrior for seeds and nute sensitive cuts.

I use light warrior and ocean forest mixed 50/50 for rest of the grow. No issues here.

Yea, I have heard about the bugs coming with FFOF. Have used it but never noticed that, luckily! I have a bag of Happy Frog soil, which is made by them, and always wondered if it was likely to have the same problem.

they been selling ffof at the local nursery lately at only 15 a bag, the people cant figure why it sells so well but they love the fact it moves.

i doubt any changes took place as they mentioned nothing of it at the industry meeting
