As the US economy continues in deep recession, more and more Americans are growing and selling marijuana. Record cannabis seizures tell a tale of thousands of new growers trying to earn a living in hard times.

"If someone loses their job, they may very well seek an alternative source of income such as marijuana cultivation....There is an enormous 'Grow America' movement in this country, serving the 26 to 28 million who smoke marijuana every year."" says Keith Stroup, the founder of NORML.

Google Article said:
A crackdown begun six years ago had convinced many growers to give up, rather than contend with the helicopters constantly crisscrossing the region in the summer months, authorities said.

Bullshit, they just moved indoors :D

But as the potency of the pot has increased, so has the potential for damage, according to some researchers. Reports have indicated that the new, highly potent strains have ensnared people in addiction, leading to job losses, financial turmoil, and other personal and medical problems.

So that must be why my life is so messed up right now.

:wallbash: Where do they find the people that write this garbage? :wallbash:

Notice all the weasel words, e.g. "some researchers", "Reports have indicated", etc. No facts are presented, no names, just hyperbole and bush-league drama, to stir up the uninformed readers. Grrrrr

Yea, wtf at the potency=addiction=death=end of the world thing. If one thing bothers me, it's the continued propagation of bullshit when the truth exists in plain sight.

But most people in power now ( 50yo +/- 10 ) were the generation of the flower children. Although what your saying is likely, Im not sure if thats what we should completely rely on

Yea, but one thing that could come of this increase in people growing could be a decrease in the price of weed due to the increase in supply, while demand remains the same. That's something that could benefit those of us that don't grow and might suck for the ones that do grow, lol.
Interesting to think about and watch and see.

Until pot is legal, there will never ever be a problem with supply outstripping demand, period. Hell, even in med states where it is quasi-legal, you're still looking at prices very similar to street retail.

That is the truth brother, but we need it decriminalized, not legal. We need to be able to grow it in our yard, but we need to keep Marlborough from selling it, adding God knows what to it like Nicotine! Or some giant con aggro corporation "patenting" all our seed with their "Roundup gene" (Actual gene modification to become tolerant to toxic levels of Roundup pesticide)
Oh, by the way, why did we almost see the extinction of the Honey Bee? Poncho! Poncho is the name of a commercial pesticide that almost destroyed our way of life! No more bees, no more food we eat.

Hi RollmeoneKenobi,
I find it quite frightening that honey bee colonies have collasped all over the place. They were blaming it on some kind of virus and the moniker was "sudden bee colony collapse" I am not surprised to find out that some greedy corporation may be responsible. If a couple more species disappear, we won't be far behind!
Same thing with the explosion of obesity among children. I bet we are not adapted to process the high fructose syrups & sweeteners that our technology can provide. Especially children. Where is the f^%%^^ing Attorney Gen'rl? Where is the FDA? We are fucking up the planet. I think soon it is going to fuck people up.

haha good stuff, the sheer numbers and growth of our industry that is. Thought it was weird that new england was mentioned in the first article, was expecting CA and KY TN. Although I'm sure ME and VT have their share of growers.
