short version.
Vertical Lamps are only effeciant if at level with plants.. the parabolic reflectors out there are Crapola for pushing light down. with that said if going vert and just at plant height use a parb to keep some light down.
or plants are all around lamp..

KM thats cause those are INDICA Based Strains>INDICAs are Bushs..
the light is only making the plant reach its full potential..
take this with grain of salt.
if cmh creates fat leaves what would a eye horti blue do with more blue. vs red.. and more blue vs cmh.. (its to much blue for me. and way not enough red)

give a body builder just base nutes he will be OK>. HPS
give him full nutes Etc..hell stoke ups.. CMH
same concept.. under hps some those strains dont perform to there potential.. including fat leaves. But fat leaves mean more energy absorbed.. but again its Indica.. i like sativias.. (med im indica, fun im sativia)

the light is more intense. Not as big a coverage area but more intense light.

I had durgamata (hash type indica dom) under sodium but when done under
CMH it made the side shoots grow out way more than before and yah it looks like more leaf.

Can't wait to see the finish buds from CMH & compare them to
the HPS version (mental note save some of the HPS version)

These lamps will be good for producing more veg
leaf for people that
make CBD out of veg leaves
(I'm making some now for my cat's IBD,
so there's no THC for him; poor guy)

did some reading this morning at gardens cure looks like it's a good idea to not look directly at the CMH lamp with out UV blocking sun glasses on

also these CMH don't have the limitation that other MH bulbs have with needing a cool down period,they can be operated 24/0

being a new hid operator I didn't know MH lamps need a cool down,could be why my new Eye MH lamp failed after 3 weeks of 24/0

I got a burn/rash on my knuckles from rotating plants; twice a day, under a 400 CMH...so..I recommend being careful with strong UV rays...anything closer than 5 feet?..is probably harmful. They were designed to be hung in high industrial ceilings. Wear your shades, too.

^ what he said! I was doing some work on my plants - 800W of CMH - and I was probably directly exposed to the light for only 20-30 seconds and I got a small sunburn. Hope all that UV helps with resin production

DEFINTELY noticed a HUGE increase in vegetation/nodal growth when using the CMH. Highly recommend for veg/mothers and for flower as well.

Damn, if cmh's uv is so strong, I can propably forget it as I would only use it in my livingroom.

cmh does dump uvb but not enough to give sunburn.. (with that said you could have really fair skin and not much sun contact)

real quick way put spf50 on one spot on arm and stay under cmh for 20 min then wash off next day is it dif color.. (that would tell you how cmh affects you) (use magic marker to draw box for spf so you know where it was and dont try to wash off it will darken skin and affect test)

i will say they where designed for 20+ feet commercial however there's not enough UV to burn you in that short amount of time..

and yes dont look at any light source.
all lamps require cool down.. cmh and mh are 8-15 min HPS is 2-6 minutes

cmh is used in many applications people are around so a living room is fine.. I have cmh everywhere and no burns on me (knock on wood)
IE MH puts out more uv than cmh (without any blocking)

got my 400w CMH today,won't get much use this grow as these are scheduled to go 12/12 next week and it's HPS for that

I like the idea of one of those Sun Super Spectrum reflectors with the dual sockets and a CMH running with an HPS for flower

y'know what I did that convinced me to ditch the HPS? I vegged with it. That was AWFUL.

I cant justify a HPS being leaps and bounds better in flower than in veg. Yes, I realize what the sodium fiends will say, but IMO, a representation of the full spectrum is critical.

they do make 2700k CFLs if you want a boost to red light

my present experience level require that I base my opinion on what I read from user posts in some regards but I did have to vegg under 600w HPS for 1 week cause my MH lamp failed and noticed the plants leaves just didn't erect toward the light like they do with this 400w CMH or the old 400w blue MH for that matter so I agree HPS isn't as good a source for vegg growth but I've read,from more than one user,the CMH doesn't promote bud development nearly as good as the HPS
temps went from 79f to 76f with the change as well

When I switched my veg from 400 CMH vertical
parabolic to 400 CMH horizontal I saw a dramatic
change in the plants from the higher foot candles.

They took off in growth, the leaves got bigger,longer and the side branches
grew away from the main stem.

Under HPS the side branches never grew out.
Flowering now under CMH, 65 days to go......

i guess a few slipped threw the cracks..
I will say i know this past week they have been slower to ship due to demand and only can preburn so many at one time.

i would definitely contact them they are not out there to rip people off..
Side note if your INTL it can take 2.5 weeks just for post..(canada up to 1.2 week)

just plugged in my 400w CMH today. looking good. love the real light color instead of the orange from HPS. I'll keep you guys posted, although i might from a 600 w HPS in there too.

looking forward to a crystally harvest in about 3 months!
