DIY Bubble BUCKETS!! 5 gallon buckets for Hash Making! Who needs a Bag?

L

LolaGal

OK, I have found a 100 micron 5 gallon bucket strainer, so it's getting better!

LOL. Broke + bored = experimenting !!!!

Still don't see why the nitex in this won't work super great! Just cut a big piece and fasten it around with a tie till you are done with the bucket.

My goal is to do the same thing for less money!

All for the extremely low price of $505 combined. That's LMAO worthy.

:moon:and just 10-15 grams of hash and its paid for its self:woohoo:

Lola talked about using mesh overlays. I think the combined cost for buckets & mesh, and the subsequent hassle might not be worth it. But I'm all up for trying new things so Lola if you go for it let us know!
Oh ok my bad. Yes necessity is the mother of all invention

thanks papulz! :)

How much bubble do you get after the 75 micron bag?

Which bag is the one where the most bubble collects?

I researched that 45 microns is all the human eye can see. Are the trichs bigger than that surely?

Never made no bubble, I need ya'll's help! I am a babe in the woods.

trichs range in size, hence the large range in screen sizes. The strain(s) you are using will determine what you should expect at each level of filtration.

Trich heads range in size quite dramatically, just off the cuff i want to say between 120 and 40 ish microns is illustrative of the range.

The majority of my haul generally comes out of the 45 micron bag.. but that changes depending on the strain im workin with.

to guesstimate the mesh size of screen needed, a small magnifier (same thats used to judge trich ripeness) can be used to examine the heads.

I would always use a 25 micron fine sieve at the very end just in case i missed anything..

Even though most often the 25 micron goo is immature heads, it can still be utilized in many applications.

Hey ya'll finally got my bubble bucket set today.

You get a white plastic 5 gallon bucket with a hole drilled near the bottom. There is a honey gate that screws into the hole with foodsafe washers, etc. to tighten it on.

The 3 filters that are included are very interesting.

Made of round, sturdy plastic, there appears to be polyethylene screen type fabric in the bottoms of the plastic strainers.

The netting appears to be heat sunk into the plastic all around the edges. The screen then is a little higher than the plastic around it. The screens fit nicely into the bucket itself.

The 200 size screen appears very, very very fine.

I am sure that by sitting another polyethylene screen fabric down inside, and placing a rubber band around there to hold it on, trichs would be easy to get at.

This is more of a small batch type method.

I will experiment with a small amount of trim, and see what happens. If all else fails, I will just make some gumby hash.

Before using, I give the Bubble Bucket a 6 star rating out of 10.

Let's see what the rating is after use. It may not screen out anything at all, so we will see soon.

the 200 will filter out only the leaf material.. you definitely need another screen behind there to catch any resin. Becauswe the filter inserts are so shallow I don't think it will be of much use, compared to if you stitched your own set.

you know me, I love to experiment.

when looking at what they call the 200 size, I doubt a trichome would escape this mesh.

I imagine the included 600 would allow the trichs through and catch the plant material, but it is pretty fine as well, so experimentation will have to be done and pics taken to see if it works or not.

With a little adaptation, I know that I would enjoy using the plastic strainers that fit into the bucket with another piece of netting in appropriate size. It is just so rigid and nice to use.

I say with a 24 inches of appropriate additional mesh in correct size, this is gonna be dandy for user friendliness.

OK, had a ounce of trim in the freezer, so I decided to give it a go.

Poured through the 600 got out most of the veg matter.

Then I poured through the 200 size strainer. We have trichomes. I got the radio shack microscope out and checked the haul. It's bubble hash all right.

:)

Here's a picture of the big haul. I got maybe 4 grams or so, if that. I am not a good estimater of metric.

This is a 5 gallon bucket sized strainer for size reference.

what do ya'll think?

still looks like a fare bit of plant matter in the very middle..

if your getting more than a %5 - %10 I would not be considering that bubble

But very nice job :D nice to see someone thinking out side the box... how did you mix your trim.... i find sub-cools way... with a wooden spoon very gently for 15 mins gives the best bubble you can get :D

LolaGal

thanks for posting shroomy.

Yes, it is just a starting point, but I had to try it out, just to see.

I did the spoon thing like you said, in a bucket. I am gonna let it settle, and do some gumby hash out of the leftovers in the bucket, if I can.

I love the plastic, easy to handle filter inserts that stay at the top of the 5 gallon bucket.

I can't wait to line them with a piece of polyethylene fabric in a 25 micro size, and other sizes too.

I wish that whoever made these sets would make them in even finer mesh sizes. I like the way the heat sealing into the plastic makes it super tough .

It is a good start for the project, which I anticpate with do the same thing for under $50, and last a long, long time.

Oh forgot to tell ya'll the lid to the bucket set even has a rubber type gasket in it. also has places you can cut out different size holes in the lid if you needed it to stack buckets and strain big batches, or for other uses. cool.

I love this innovative idea, thanks Lola
I too can't afford the products made available throughout and for this culture.
I've seen Hashish washing machines that look awesome yet, $250 plus is out of my reach.
I have seen a product that looks easy enough to make DIY.
It is a PVC pipe, with two screw-on ends. One end is solid while, the other has a screen on it in various micron sizes. You fill the tube with material, place it in the freezer for 30 minutes then, shake and shake and shake the contents until the pollen falls through the bottom screen like pepper ;>}

Now that I am able to grow for myself, I'm learning that I need to find a way to use all the by-product and not throw it away.
I tried the cannabutter thing and haven't gotten much results.

Here is another DIY idea:

A 100u screen is available from one site online I found.

Owl what is that like a tumbler deal? I'm on dialup... so slow, don't do Utube.

Lola I would look for either a ~75u and 25u screen to back the bucket, or just the 25 if you want to keep it simple and get all plant resin in one shot. the 200 from the bucket does look to have quite a bit of plant material as mentioned... would make a good 'last step filter' before the 25u screen.

What's the diameter of the bucket - standard 5 gallon? Was gonna say just tape a pressing screen around it but I don't think they make 'em that big. Maybe I should.
