What's new

First indoor 46 watt CFL

Here is a report on my first indoor grow.

Soil: I am using a mixed soil consisting of pro-mix and a cactus blend soil (very good drainage)

Lighting: 2 X 23 watt CFL lamps for veg at 5K

Seed: a Blue Widow freebie

Nutes: home mix of sugars, slight acid (to balance PH of water), and schultz grow 24-8-16 at half mix, liquid calcium / molybdenum / strontium micro's, and an iodine / iron / magnesium / manganese / potassium / chromium / cobalt / lithium / nickel / vanadium / selenium / zinc micro's (kent marine essential elements designed for saltwater tanks) that i have used for years due to my keeping saltwater coral and no hydro shops near where i am located. (I like to buy local) and an essential amino-acid complex with vitamins (again designed for fish tanks but home brewed, I have degrees in Chemistry and Biology).

Time: 3 weeks from start of seed prep

plant is in 2.6 gallon container (10L)

I keep the lights on 18/6 time and always located close to the plant and pointing from a 45deg angle.

this is my first indoor grow and am looking to store my records on this site and to gain some insights into indoor gardening by gathering feedback.

I will try to keep this updated as much as possible
Thanks for looking.

its already to big for just 46 watts, i'd flower it now and be prepared to buy more lights

Thank you for looking.

I have 2 X 106 watt (actual watts) 2.5k & 4 x 65 watt 3k lamps to use for flower.

I also have an additional 2 x 23 watt 5k bulbs & 2 X 65 watt 6k bulbs that will be added as needed for veg cycle.

I am trying to light the entire plant not just the top and also simulating a natural increase in light intensity as the plant grows that will peak when flowering is forced.

It is supposed to be a fem seed.
But if not then i will collect pollen for later ( I like this plants pheno and smell) and make some butter with the rest.

I have been thinking of doing that but the plant is taking a nice flat appearance along the top with the side branches growing at the same rate as the main. (I think due to having the lights pointing at the sides of the plant.)

Devil's Advocate
Hey man. Looking good!
I would agree with everyone else on the GET MORE LIGHTS!! So you're going to veg a couple more weeks before flipping? I'd say the lighting you've described is good for that, though.
I would surely LST those gals even though, as you said, the growth is pretty even and nice.
Just bend the top over a bit and watch those side shoots grow. I think you'll be happy but of course, you know what you need better than I do.

I wish you females!
Adios

well, bad news, came home today and my ninja cat had somehow broken into the growroom and turned off the powerbar that the hot air vent is on (was sleeping on it). plants got some heat for about 6 hours. temps were at 95. plants got burned. =(
will post some pics this weekend.

I think it will make it fine having some nutelock issues due to heat from ninja cats attack.

First pic is day i found cat sleeping on the powerbar to the vents
second pic is week5 - flipped to flower for 3 days.
