Seed run - how many should I expect...

..if I run a 600W setup, for example. I'm thinking of producing my own
female seeds for outdoors next year, but I have no idea how to calculate
my seed factory needs?!?
Thanks in advance!

This is a very hard question to answer and depends on alot of factors like when you pollinate, how many plants you pollinate, how big they are if you pollinate all buds or just some.

How are you going to make all female seeds? This will also have a impact on the number of seeds. The more info the better.

you can make a lotttt of seeds pretty easily... i just had a seeded crop due to hermies and i have more seeds than i know what to do with... and much more than i'd like

Making my own silvercolloid suspension like described here on icmag. Everything else could be optimized for seed production, my interest is to have enough seeds for many years to come so no no problem if I don't harvest one gramm of grass.

polinate just one of the larger or main colas and you will get some 5-10,000 seeds
Seems to good to be true. We're talking indoor, right!?! So let's say 10 plants under 600W should give me 50.000-100.000 seeds per your calculation!?!

Open pollination with well vegged reverted males producing viable pollen, tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of seeds!

Have you considered targeted pollination? You can make as many as you need by just seeding one entire female, or even just a branch or two. Just a quick dusting on a few buds can get you 25-100 seeds without even trying...

you can get about 3-8 seeds a bud..... but for a fully mature *indoor* marijuana plant it could produce well over 300 seeds per plant

obviously it depends on the size of the plant and on the size of the colas you polinated e.t.c, but its EASILY possible to have that many.

Would do a small test with the pollen and flower out a number of plants before i made a bucket full.
Equivalent to an F2 , can throw up a variety of freaks and the odd stunner but will be more varied than the parent includeing the outdoor flowering time.

Have made a lot of seed and some of the numbers being suggested seem a little optimistic for indoor , most C99 based plants give 300 - 500 mature viable seed after gradeing and pinch testing in a square foot of lightspace kept to two feet high amongst other plants .
Larger NL/Casey/Diesel based give 800 - 1200 in a larger footprint.

Could manage 10 000 to 15 000 easily under the 600 but would want to be sure of their quality first.

Would produce a good yield of dry sift or bubble , stronger and different in character from unseeded and some compensation for no bud.

You may have a problem forceing enougth pollen even with silver , varies widely with strain from that of a normal male to very little and not always fertile.

Best of luck with this.

Here's another take...

Just did a seed run with a couple new mandala strains - the ganesh took longer to flower than the 8MH did. But a male ganesh polinated the whole batch. The 8MH had nice little cotton balls started but the ganesh females only had a few pistils per node. Got probably 5x the ammount of seeds out of the 8mh just because they were a little further into the cycle than their cousins in the next pot over.

Another thing to consider. I did a seed run with lowryder for my very first grow. Put 9 lowryders into a milk crate lined with a garbage bag. One male really stood out so I let him live. Ended up with 5 females all under 18" tall in the milk crate. Counted the beans as I was curious - over 600 beans from 18" tall lowryders all crowded into a milk crate.

Just be sure to pollinate well with a good male on some ladies who have some decent little flowers formed and you'll be bitching about picking seeds out of the buds for a good long while.

Best of luck!
