The real money is not in the field but the greenhouse!!
I have a 5' beef master tomato plant outside covered in green tomatoes. A small one ripened a few days ago and it was the best damn tomato I've ever eaten.

What is the best tasting tomatoe to grow????

What is Switch Grass? @ http://www.switch-grass.com/

Samson says burning switchgrass in coal-fired generators produces about 32% efficiency, but when switchgrass is pressed into pellets and burned in specially designed space-heating stoves, the efficiency reaches 85%.
Biomass fuels are second only to hydropower as a fuel for mass utility-administered consumer use. In May 2001, for example, biomass generated about 1.8% of the total 307 trillion kilowatt-hours produced that month, according to U.S. electric power industry summary statistics published by the federal Department of Energy (DOE).

i still wanna know about the strains of lettuce. is subrob awake yet?

One thing you should consider is WATER
Lettuce definitely takes far more watering than does Switch Grass and is very susceptible to time to market factors.

Willie Nelson Fills Up With Biodiesel in Detroit
Willie Nelson has a 500 gallon biodiesel tank at his Texas ranch and owns a truck stop that pumps approximately 80,000 gallons of biodiesel blends every day. Other well-known bands using biodiesel on the road are: The Dave Matthews Band, Barenaked Ladies, Pearl Jam, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

If you want to form a growing farming business, this is the wave of the future.

Asian and or Indian plants that cant' be found in off season.

Fiddleheads are hugely profitable and if you have bog's where you live they're nearly endless. Make sure you don't pluck all the fronds from each plant or else you'll come back next year to a field of nothing.

the Canadian Farmers association has amazing literature in dealing with agriculture, I have about a dozen different excel algorithms for starting a business as a farmer (I've got everything from lettuce to berries to nuts)

Also, check in my album under old gallery, you can see a fist full of booklets and fist full of loose sheet papers, those are all about agriculture and will let you know about specifics that you could never think about .. like manure poisoning creek beds.

If you need the info, its all free, including the booklets, you just have to pay for shipping.

It is, but still legal at the moment

30 bucks a gram, that is alot of bucks for a field of salvia

The salvia you see for 30$ a gram is USUALLY some form of 20x extract or higher concentration. It takes 20-25 grams of leaf material to make a 20x extract.

And yes this stuff is very potent for 95% of people. Only one of my buddies can't get "out of it" on this stuff. Everyone else was surprised and scared to attempt it again.

Basically it has to do with BIOFUEL production.

http://www.wnbiodiesel.com/

My wife came to me three or four years ago and wanted to buy this Volkswagen Jetta and put biodiesel in it. It sounded like a big scam. I said, "You been in my Maui-Wowie again." But she bought the car, and it gets good gas mileage and the tailpipe smells like French fries. And I saw this as a way for farmers to dig out from the hole they were in and help the economy.

okay, talked to bro. it actually wasnt him but one of his contacts. they actually do thier lettuce(bib lettuce and some sort of minitures) indoors, hydroponically! matter of fact, he said that down in our neck of the woods, the only way to make money on lettuce is to either have a very large farm outdoors, or not so large will work hydroponically indoors. thier indoor setup is sold thru a local farmers market that is a 12 month a year thing in our locale. if you dont have a ready outlet, locally, with little or no transpo costs, its not really a good 'field' so to speak. also, it is not his primary source of income, but a nice supplement to other agricultural products such as basil. if you have time and space, and a market, seems the way to go is with a number of diff crops. unless, of course you are running thousand acres and full time farmin.

i know a couple guys that make a nice chunk of change off.....lettuce. no shit. i cannot claim to know the ins and outs of thier business, but might be worth checking into. by the way, they got thier start w herb, and then switched over full time.

nice legitimization...
