Nice, thanks for the clarification.

Daisy, thanks for commenting! The air intake hole was just roughly hacked out with a soldering iron, lol. Surprisingly neat though. Originally the intake was going to be a 60mm pvc light trap which is under soil level. Here's an early plan which I didn't follow much:

I doubt this'll get completed unfortunately as it'll be really hard to lightproof and it can't be made as stealth as I want it in terms of exterior appearance. The one in the diagram can theoretically be stood in a corner and look just like a bucket with a lid on. (and would be a lot easier to lightproof). It had a smaller fan too so that's why I used such a small intake!

I think I'll probably strip out my dehumidifier and grow in that next.

Looks great SN! I'm flowering Aussie Blues for the first time. I'm going to put a screen over them tonight because they have stretched so much and they are only 12 days into flower. I haven't seen many threads with AB in the garden. Can't wait to see if my flowers look like yours.

Peace, :joint:

Cheers Hydrosun! Did you see my gallery? Aussie Blue has given me the highest yield so far, 18oz, and the plant was 1.5 ft high! I can talk about that strain all day :D:yes:

One plant outdoor sog.

It's also one of my favourite smokes :smoke: Great choice and I think it'd really perform in a scrog! I will read your thread now, sounds great.

Also...

:woohoo:

I got some seeds off an outdoor grower so they should be good to go. They'll be straggly ass sativas of questionable genetics and breeding, but better than nothing. Probably Mango related. I'm about to pop a few in as backup. Totally stoked to score those!

ScrubNinja! Thanks for the amazing news! My ABs (there are two of them) are in 5 gal buckets. The big one is well over 3.5' already. I will be placing a screen over them tonight. I'll take before and after photos. I've been able to 16oz+ out of my Purple Kush. I'd be nice to see AB beat them, because the PK is 56 days and I bet AB is 70 - 77?? Love to hear your thoughts on this strain. I've found it is a pain to (compared to others) to clone, but grows great. Also is a little more tricky with Ph.

Peace, :joint:

:D:yes: Yeah I actually gave mine about 60, 65 days I think (outdoor of course). Probably a bit early but the landlord was threatening to mow the paddock, and it was still couchlocky smoke in the end. My cut was an f2 and a lot more on the indica side compared to what I see online. Medium stretch depending on how much light it had.

Most of the male f2's from that batch were ducksfoot leaves which was cool. I personally found it the easiest, most abuse tolerant strain I've grown. It's just perfect and no matter if you grow it in sun or shade, the buds will always be thick and hard. Oh yeah, was the hardest nugs I've ever seen too :D

Here's the same cut grown more conventionally in a 35 litre pot of straight coco, sorry it's such a crap photo

Your setup is awesome bro, I'll be keeping my eyes on those AB's

Great job scrub :3 I want to be able to get the same results in terms of cab dedication / effort. Right now I feel like a starving artist how I have to assemble it in pieces weeks at a time but it lets me read up on alot of things and really think them through before hand. I definately have to use that cd-spindle idea. Very r-r-r. Great work!

You know what, in a lot of fields in life, I've found it's good to be restricted. I had no money at all when I churned out the girls in my gallery. Borrowed money for nutes, scrounged secondhand coco, all that. I borrowed this rickety old lamp and eventually bought a small table lamp so I could run TWO cfl's, oh my god! And the "tent" was just a white canvas cement bag in the corner of my bedroom so I always had light blaring, lol. I was kicking out almost as much as my friend using 1400 to 2000w in his veg room! That was with about 100w total of CFLs and a damn lot of elbow grease carrying them outside every day. But hopefully it illustrates the point. I was near enough to a complete n00b but posted one of those plants on here and got PMs + rep from people who I fucking worship, admiring it. All off 2 or 3 CFLs and a cement bag. I still shake my head in amazement. Hang in there bro! Like you said, just keep reading. Focus on using what you do have to it's utmost potential. It'll probably have a lot more potential than most people make out because most people don't use what they have properly, or take the time to explore it.

We're on the same wavelength for sure man :)

Well, I thought it was time to let you guys know whats up. So far about 6 of the 75 have risen! Last night they started. They were all Full Moon x Shiva Skunks. Remember I said the seeds looked better? We'll see how they do.

It's still too early for them to arise but I'd also planted 10 of those dodgy outdoor seeds after getting them.

And due to a wonderful result of things coming together for a change, I now have 51 new seeds of five rather awesome sounding crosses! I am quite heavily pleased (and thankful) about this! They're 5 different moms/strains crossed with a Princess Diesel father. For this first run I will be growing (Very Berry Surpise x Bubblegum) x Princess Diesel.

I'll keep the currently above ground seedlings as long as I can, just in case! But ideally I'd like to dedicate the whole thing to the sweet new strain so I can choose the best parents for seed making.

Oh yeah and I found some activated carbon in my town at long god damn last! Expensive but oh well, it looks like good shit. It's finer which is what I like. It's marketed as "finishing carbon" from a brew store. I asked the dude if it's activated and he says yup. So I paused and asked if it's absolutely, 100%, swear on your mother's grave, activated carbon, and he says yup (after looking at me funny). They are working on a bulk deal for me but to be honest, I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy a retail carbon filter for this cupboard. I bought a 1kg pack to use in another project anyway.

So for the time being, I am :woohoo:

Hehehe they only take one puff though. It's puff puff pass isn't it? :)

Looking forward to those pics man. I've started lurking the autoflower forum on an increasing basis. Yours sound pretty dope. I think the short time would be great for outdoors. That's why I usually vegged indoors (plus the yard) at home, so my precious girls were only out in the wild for 2 months.

As promised bro,
1) 3mth FNQ strain @ 2.5wks old under 130w CFL 24/0 since birth:nanana:, bit thristy

2) Branching away, no signs of sex yet, not sure if auto or not.

3) healthy babies @ 4 days old since birth

4) the not so healthy ones(cups) i was telling you about, just stalled and not doing much at all

So that's the veg/reveg cab as of today bro, couple more in my gallery. Can't wait to see you're newly arrived seeds doing their thing and hope your other shivas sprouts/seeds start to get their arse in gear for ya.
Peace.

Nice, thanks for posting  I hope my seedlings look like that soon! Interesting choice of pots there. I am lucky to have a huge specialist shop nearby that only sells pots! And they sell these guys' pots. They would be wicked for a dr bud style thing I reckon.

Well I guess I better show you a pic now. These are the best two Full Moon x Shivas and they're already looking a bit mongy :/ See how the leaves don't fold down properly? And a few were planted upside down so there's more than 6 technically. I gently rearranged those. I find planting the seed in the right orientation to be really difficult when the seed is wet. It never drops, sticks to your fingers, gets covered in dirt when it does land so you can't see, etc. Any hints?

Try using a toothpick bro to take them off or slide them off you're fingers when planting then just gently rearrange them into the right position with the toothpick, usually works for me. Also i try to use the jiffy pots for raising seeds cause when they are wet and expanded they have a little premade hole for you to put the seed/sprout into, then when they are ready to go in to their next pot you just remove the netting and pot them up, no transplant shock, sweet as. Those shivas look like they have fully just stopped, bit hard too see but are the first set of leaves trying to come thru? I have had many seeds do the exact same thing and thats it nothing else, it's quite frustrating bro i know, but i also have had them turn around and start to do their thing, so i'm praying to the ganja gods that you're shivas pull thru.
Peace.

Cheers mon. I've never used a jiffy pot. You mean ones like this right? So they swell up so you don't actually have to put any medium in? Wouldn't they fall apart easy? They sound pretty good though, I'm a big fan of avoiding transplant delays.

No sign of any grow tip yet but the leaves are still pretty folded up. Being in seed-raising mix I've at least ruled out the coco as the problem. So next to rise should be the outdoor seeds given to me. If they do the same thing then that's when I start panicing for real. I'm hopeful they will grow fine and it was just my old crappy seed stocks, I mean - like 8 strikes out of seventy freakin' five seeds, yikes, and some of my seed was absolute zero. And indeed, 100% of it seems to just be knackered. Sigh.

Can I ask what condition/strike rate your seeds were like, mate? (the ones not growing right)

Well for this time around I soaked 2 lots of 10 seeds (both crosses of mine), Lot 1 seeds(all 10) took the longest to sink in the water then took over a week to show any tap root action, then into some wet paper towel for a few more days, once the tap root was out more it was into the cups and so far only three have broken the soil and two look like they might just pull thru. Lot 2 seeds all sunk within 34hrs with tap root action on all of them within another 12 hrs, onto the paper towels for 24hrs then into the jiffy pots till the stood up in the jiffys, most had shaken the seed husk, then in to the bottles i use, most of them looked like your shivas, and did nothing from there on, so i got 4 powering on out of Lot 2 with 2 in 1 bottle.
Lot 1 outta 10 seeds might have 2 decide they want to grow.
Lot 2 outta 10 seeds have got 4 going hard with 2 :dueling: in 1 bottle.
Edit: Seeds were from my last micro grow 6mths ago and were hard black tiger stripe little fuckers. :Edit
I'm also dealing with Unknown Bagseed Genetics so between that and the cold weather and fate and fuck knows what else, I am very thankful for what the ganja gods have blessed me with, lets just hope for females now.
Those jiffys you showed bro i think are made by the same company that make the ones i use, http://www.autopot.com.au/content/images/Jiffy%20Pellets05.JPG

I haven't used those other ones before only these disc ones with the netting.
Edit: Mate i just found this forum about the Princess Diesel, holy fuck bro if nothing else pops for you get those bad ass mothers going, those genetics are the bomb.

Haha hell yeah man! It's gonna go off!! And I'm a big fan of anything berry or bubblegum so I'm totally amped especially since my last 3 packs of seed never came through. I've changed my earlier plan with the 20 litre bucket to a bigger grey plastic trashcan and that will be my mom room. Way more lightproof and more headroom.

The other strains crossed with the PD are

  • AK47
  • C99
  • Dynamite
  • Trainwreck

Thanks for the jiffy info! I will get some soon. I have actually used those netted ones once many moons ago.

And wow, you soak them for a long time man! I don't even wait for tails. Oh yeah I should mention one of the very berry seeds had a tiny bit of the seed missing so I'm treating that more like 9 seeds instead of 10...but I planted it anyway so there are 10. :)

Hadn't soaked for that long before also, first time try, so for me that could also be helping towards the low strike rate. I usually just straight into the ready jiffy and 8/9 times out of 10 something will come up. Age of seeds and storage conditions will def play some part bro. And that list of genetics in the PD :yoinks: rock on bro, you is going to have some fun.
Peace.

Word. It's messed up cos the last time I sprouted seeds was all these same seeds that flunked out, and towards the start of this year I must have planted about 20 or 30 and all except one or two came up. That was with no soaking of the seed of any kind. But yeah, I really messed up on their early storage, before this year.

Here is that trashcan.

And here is that trashcan on drugs.

Light will be one CFL probably a 28w or less, hanging vertically from just under the carbon screen layer. The exhaust fan will be the 70mm cooler master Aero with speed dial, mounted inside, blowing out (but pulling thru the carbon). I think it's gonna be a ripper. :D:yes: I hope to get that chopped in a couple of days.
