Ickis knows Cornfields

Cornfields can be tricky. Sometimes the combine can come early for a silage cut and sometimes the bear in the air can find them But many times you can pull of some mighty fine grows.

I didn't put anything in the corn until June 20th. All my clones and seedlings were at least vegged 6 weeks, some longer. I have a few strains that I plant each year because I know they will finish. Each year I also try new strains just to see how they will do.

I also tried some early flowering stuff. I did Royal Dane and Guerilla Gold. I might have messed up the Royal Dane because I started the seeds inside and kept them too long before getting them out June 20th. Some were kinda autoflowering. They are all small and have very wispy buds. Next year I get them in the ground at 2-3 weeks old.

Here is an example of my sad Royal Danes. It wasn't worth taking pics of the other 9 plants in this cornfield.

I promise things get better in the thread.

Now the Guerilla Gold just might be gold. Because it is going to finish nice and early. Maybe 2nd week Sept early but certainly well before September ends. That makes it a perfect companion plant for in the cornfields. They all range in size from 2.5 feet to 4 feet and are very uniform. They all have a strong lemon scent and early samples are at least a 7 in potency and taste lemony. I started 100 seeds, I have had them 4 years and 90 sprouted. I got 65 females. I planted them all in one very large cornfield scattered about. I didn't use cages because of the numbers and I only lost 15 to critters.

Here are a few examples of the Guerilla Gold. The Japanese Beetles liked them but they couldn't stop them from making some buds.

I have a few dozen of my own cross. It is a Grand Daddy Purple crossed with Bubba Chunk (beancounter cross). I wanted to boost the potency of GDP. It worked too. Some GDP flavor with a heavy Katsu Bubba Kush and Deep Chunk stone. When it cures it has an awesome flavor.

Last year all the plants looked identical and got about 6 feet tall and were bushes that all yield about a pound each. Some a tad under and some a tad over. The best was 1 lb 3 ounces.

Here are 2 nice examples that are in early flowering.

This is the first year I have tried Wally Duck's C99 x Thai. It might finish and it might not depending on the pheno. I planted 6 seeds and got 4 females. They all look the same to me and they have started producing lots of hairs so they are flowering. They are my biggest plants. I vowed this year not to have any 10 foot+ plants in the corn. I have chopped a foot off these plants 3 times this summer and they are still 7 feet tall and got nice a bushy. The corn is tall again this year an easy 9 feet maybe 10 so they are hidden. Glad I only have 6 in this cornfield.

Here are 2 of them.

I also started 6 seeds of MNS G13/Skunk #1. I got 3 females. These will depend on the pheno but most will finish. I have until Oct 22 to get them out of this cornfield. But that is still a guesstimate. I have really had to keep topping these to control height too. They are very vigorous growers. Bugs didn't bother them either. They are also very stinky growing.

Now this cornfield is quite a distance away from me. I have watched it for years. They always wait until after Nov to cut it. It has been that way for years. So I used it to plant 20 Chem D clones. I just removed their fences a week ago. All my plants had fences except the Guerilla Gold and Royal Danes.

These have being very resistant to bugs. They have loved the fertile cornfield soils and full sun. Plus we got excellent rainfall this year. Things are very lush.

Every Chem D is just as nice as these.

Here is another interesting cross I made. I had a NL/Leopard Kush x Pure Kush clone and I grew it outside last year. I pollinated one of the clones with a big, fat, actually huge male Chem D bx2 by Rez that was sticky and frosty. I got over 1000 seeds. I started a few dozen and ended up with 15 females.

They are all about 6 feet tall and have been topped a few times.

I have a Pure Kush clone. The real deal. The one they talk about in the Canna Bible supposedly. It is a small plant inside. You have to veg like hell to get a foot tall plant. The stone is a knockout. You are really high but you can fall asleep doing anything. I am loving the few specimens I have outside. I can't believe they are 3 and 4 feet tall. They are branchy with humongous kush leaves. They smell off coffee and skunk with a sweet hint.

Had a pack of Sonja's Purple Kush by Grindhouse. I started 10 seeds and got 5 females. They are all very kushy looking plants. I smoked this stuff grown by somebody else and it was real nice smoke.

This is another special field because it has 20 Southern Cal Master Kush clones in it and they are all loving it. They are all 4 to 5 feet tall and have made nice bushes. This stuff is every bit the keeper Chem D and The White are.

I did the same with the white. I have 20 clones in the corn soaking up the sun's rays. They are doing great. Takes them awhile to get going but they are going. The are also 4 to 5 foot plants.

Lastly there is a cross a friend made. The White x Pure Kush s1. I have 4 of these in a very small 2 acre cornfield. They blend right in.

Enjoy! I will update pics in a week or so. But I will check the thread and answer questions or comments.

Thanks for looking.
