Hang them until the buds are dry but the inner stems are still moist. Then place them in a paper bag for a few days until the moisture is evenly distributed. Then jar them up with an air tight lid for at least a few weeks. I start smoking as soon as they come out of the bag, but the buds arernt as near as tasty and smooth after being in glass jars in the dark for a few months.

Google how to cure marijuanna and you will find tons of tutorials on how to do it specifically.

When you put them in jars, be sure to open the jars 3 or 4 times a day to let the built up moisture dissapate.

Usually, they will sweat out in the jars and mold if you are not careful.

Dry buds get wet in jars and "cure' in their own gas (s).

So yes, opening the jars is very necessary.

good luck

if you are going to smoke it all in < 3 months jars is way overkill IMO. Just 1 quart ziplock bags for me the first day you "think" they are "really" dry. Because they won't actually be and that is all the moisture you need for "curing" (i.e. great taste and no "grassiness"). If after going into bags, it gets damp again, like anything beyond what you would get from a good dealer, they weren't dry enough and you simply need to dump your bags and let them air dry for a while, then try the bags again. Wit bags you only need to do the daily burping for the first week.

Key is, no matter what you read, not to have them sealed up with excess moisture or you will get mold. Way better to be too dry, than too wet - I have never had a harvest last longer than 3 months and in that time I have not noticed any major increases in flavor, maybe subtle undertones, but nothing worth risking your stash over - so better to trap the initial flavor with no moisture and no mold than play with fire. That is your warning, and like me, you may not heed it until you get your mold wake up call.

Basically, if in doubt, dry more.

A bud can feel dry on the outside but once you leave it in a jar for a day, open it up and feel how "squishy" it can actually get. You would be surprised.

I would not put any buds in plastic of any kind. The trichomes that stick to the plastic can never be recovered, and they stick to plastic like crazy.

At least in the glass jars, you can get the trichomes out if you want them.

Yep....Plastic is bad for curing......Don't listen too Csharper.

Listen to Lola, she knows her shit.

yeah, sorry you might lose a bowl of keif to your 10 full plastic bags which you could scrape out with a pocket knife if you wanted to, jeez people, think a little and stop repeating each other.

edit: I have maybe 30 empty bags sitting around, because yes there are a few trichomes left. Mind you some of these were from trichome laden rez strains and I'm looking at these 30 bags and yeah, even though it looks cool, if I actually scraped it all out there would maybe be one bowl. And that is why there is 30 bags laying around for a rainy day.

My buds are so dank and sticky, when I put them in plastic, the plastic has to be peeled off them to get the buds out of the plastic bag.

There goes your buzz, trapped onto plastic baggies. No bud should be tortured in plastic baggies...

Between the static electricity of the bag and the stickiness of the resin, there's just no way to get that resin out of that bag. You'd have to smoke the plastic bag.... yuck.

I do very little air curing and this may be a PITA for those who do it in quantity; I slide a piece of airline tubing down to the bottom of the jar, suck out the stale air and, thus, suck new air in.

That's pretty clever if it works. Do you just suck the air out yourself and do this once a day? I like the idea of not having to take the buds out of the jar every time. Peace.

Every day for 2-3 weeks. Just turn away before you exhale so you don't breathe moist air into the jar. Note I'm talking small jars. Bachelor sized jelly jars, yeast jars etc.

if you really think that it's just as good to throw you're uncured straight to bag an smoke em', do that with a oz of bud and throw another oz in a jar and cure it for two weeks, burping it everyday.

How it should really be done:

When plants are ready for the chop make sure you have a dark, cool environment with plenty of ventilation/fresh air.Make sure the relative humidity in the drying room/box is around 50-60% and a temperature of 60-65f.The reason for the RH% and the cool/cold temperatures is to allow for a very slow drying process, the slower the dry the better the cure and the better the end product will be.

After about 5 days to a week of hang drying be sure to check the buds for an even dry.Lower the humidity to about 35%-40% and increase the temperature to about 70-75f...in 3 days they should be ready to be manicured (all leaves removed, big buds broken down into smaller buds),then check the stem to make sure their is still just a tid bit of moisture left inside. You want your buds to be somewhat dry on the outside and just a bit of moisture in the stems.

Check the stems and make sure they are all about to snap when bent (you don't want a dry snap but just enough moisture in the stem to where it bends but just quite qon't snap).

Place in jars, being sure to fill up about 90-95% of the jar (you need to leave a little air in there).Open the jars as soon as you see the buds start to sweat, dump buds out onto a newspaper or screen and let dry again (should only take 15-30 minutes),then re-pack in the jars...you should do this 3-5 time s a day or whenever the buds start to sweat. After 5 days to a week of doin this you can leave the jars shut untill you want to smoke. The longer the cure the better the end product.
