well friday night was really rough.

the constant thirst haddent stopped. but now everything i ate or drank i was throwing up....and all the throwing up had tore up my chest and throat now, the point that i cant even drink.

so sat morn. i go to the doc, and he runs some blood tests. (some of you diagnosed it right in the 1st thread)

my blood sugar was over 500 so he admitted me to the ER yesterday, now i sit here in ICU being pumped IV after IVof insulin, and for the next 2 or 3 days trying to get my blood sugar under control.....i was diagnosed w/ typeI diabetes.

they check my blood sugar every hr.....last hr it was 143....so it's getting better (lots of hot nurses here too)

i dont know anyone w/ this and know very little about it.

anyone on here have it?

also how does smoking MJ affect this once its under control?

My friend has had insulin dependent diabetes for 20 years and we get baked all the time without any issues. MJ doesnt effect blood sugar levels unless you tend to munch out. Just get a good blood sugar checker and check it often. The better you manage your sugar levels the longer you'll live with all your parts entact.

I don't know much about diabetes, so I'm no help there, but hope you get better and out of the hospital asap!

That must suck to be told you've got diabetes. I guess it's good they got to the bottom of the problem though and can now address the cause. Get well soon, NOKUY.

Next is to get a medic alert ID. People are tards and 99 out of 100 that find you having problems will think youre drunk. Even if you say youre diabetic people still tard out and dont know what to do when most the time all they need to do is give you something to eat.

The next good idea would be get info from the people that have it as they are usually the best with whats going on in the diabetes world.

Do you still need the ice water? Did you form any dependence on the cold water...get a meter and a new lifestyle and you will be fine...I know a few people with type 1 there fine...unless there floppin around on the floor like a fish....Last year my heart stopped beating every 7 beats...went to the hospital and they told me nothing was wrong with me "get over it"...right while it was doing it in front of them...Turned out it was lack of sleep..never happens anymore....everything goes to shit when you get old...Wish you a speedy recovery...krk

sorry to hear about it. i dont want to sound like ur mom or something, but LEASE make sure you stay on top of it. i have family that suffer from it, and it isnt pretty sometimes, but as long as you stay fit and listen yo your docs, you should be dandy.

they dont know the cause of what i got.

what i have they say is less likely to ge genetic, and not from diet or drinking.

just luck of the draw i guess

a good friend has it and it nearly killed him when he first realized he had it. was out on his boat and let himself get to the point where he knew he was going to die if he didnt call 911. he said it was so painful because of something and something and something, guess thats why you got the morphine. but yeah, just keep it under control is easy and like others have said mj doesnt really affect it.

My dad has diabetes....He just has to watch his diet and with regular exercise, seems to keep it under control.

You know, Rick Simpson thinks that cannabis oil will not only control, but cure diabetes.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.....I'm sure your ready to get up outta that hospital.

Take it easy, bro.

eeek! Blood sugars of 500 can leave you f-in BLIND!

the retinas in your eyes lose the tiny blood vessels due to the high sugars.

Are you overweight? IF SO, LOSE IT!

I am a nurse and have seen lots of people lose their feet and legs to this disease.

IF you control your sugar, you will be OK! Monitor it all the time, and make sure you never let it get that high.

Stick to your diet. Remember, you can only have so many calories, it don't matter what they are. So, if you really need a piece of cake, make sure it is not above your alloted calories for the day.

Empty calories are your enemy, but everybody cheats on that sugar intake...

GET WELL SOON! :)
