CFL Cab 3rd Run - 1 sqft - 5 Plants - 115w

Hey Blynx, lookin good here. I got a newb question for ya.

When you say "no veg time" does that mean that you took the clones from the mother plant and immediately put them in the flowering box same day?

Prolly a dumb question, but hey I'm a lil 'green' when it comes to cultivation

No, I meant that once placed into the cab they are immediately switched to 12/12.

The plants do have some veg, ie from the time they are rooted in soil until they are put into the cab.

Keep in mind this 'veg' time is usually in 3" pots.

This round was an exception because the containers I'm using are large enough to accept a plant that was in a 6" pot (the half gallon milk jugs I usually use aren't).

Basically since I'm transplanting from a small container to a larger one and throwing them under 12/12 immediately, the roots/plants aren't given 'veg time' ie 18+ hrs of light to grow out. They must grow roots into the new soil and flower at the same time.

OK, I see. Thanks for the quick reply! One more question if you dont mind...Im thinking about a micro perpetual 1-1.5 sq ft kinda like yours.

I see that you housed your fan and ducting in a separate box presumably because youre using a blower, but I guess I was wondering if you think I could get away with 26-28" vertical height assuming all my stuff (2 computer fans(possibly a 4" vortex instead of the computer fans), diy carbon filter, power strip, etc..) was inside of the flower chamber or would I need to go taller?

Also what are your thoughts on the single vortex vs computer fans as far cooling and noise go? I plan on doing the 5x23w cfls as well

Thanks bro :joint:

If that's 26-28" of vertical height after putting that stuff inside then I'd say go for it.

My blower is louder than computer fans, but it also could be mounted better. It transfers some vibration to the case so it's amplified a bit.

I'm building another small cfl cab, it's taller and skinnier. I mounted 2 comp fans on the outside and have 4 bulbs running inside. I might have to add a third fan for venting as the temps around the bulbs is around 90.

A vortex is gonna be stronger and louder than computer fans, so it's up to you and your situation to decide which works best for you. With a vortex you'll have 1 fan, with computer fans, you are gonna have more.

The pics I just posted are from 2 days ago, so they aren't much different.

I update this thread once a week with new pics.

Ya, I was thinking that 26-28" might be too short for this application (sog vs scrog) I think what I'm gonna do is go with 15" x 15" x 40"h as far as dimensions...

...and go with the vortex on a speed controller like Ive read about to reduce noise and maybe even bungee it to reduce vibrations, and also I have a fishtank I can put on top of the box to help mask the sound

I'll prolly go with pc fans for the mother/clone box...whaddya think...do veggies/mothers smell, do I need a carbon scrubber in the mother box?

Sorry bout cluttering your thread, last question I swear, and then
Im :abduct:

Thanks for the words of encouragement blynx, by the way, the buds are looking pretty fat! Best of luck with all future endeavors, I really like the Goldfish pots that you are using as well. The strains you are running is also peaking my interest quite a bit, I'll make sure to subscribe to this!

I don't use a scrubber on my mom/veg/clone cabs. I can't really smell anything from them. I pretty much only smell mj odor when the plants are in flower.

I will be interested to see what the total yield is, because I'm not liking this single plant per container I did this round.

There is a big 'hole' in the middle of where the corners of all four boxes meet.

What I mean is there is unused/unusable space at this junction and there is a light right above that doesn't have a plant under it.

I think I'd really have to train the plants to reach from edge to edge of the containers, or I think I would run 4 plants per container for a total of 16 plants per square foot.

After seeing how the plants are growing, I think 3 plants per container would probably work better with the current CFL arrangement.
