Shades...sunglasses to be exact...are required accessories for just about everyone on these bright sunny summer days...but even more important for we of the bloodshot stoner eyes. Until our favorite pastime becomes more socially acceptable, we frequently must hide the windows to our souls. :smoker:

I have a favorite style that I have settled on...the Rayban Wayfarer style. I don't buy real Raybans, they are way too expensive to eventually get squashed under my ass. I get real nice cheap knock-offs for about $10.:sasmokin:

Just wondering what everybody else is hiding their eyes with. I'm not including "mirrored" because it is frequently found in many different styles.:rasta:

I actually wear my fishing shades, odds are because it is the only pair I have. Bought at walmart for $10 and have lasted me over 2 years now. Some scratches on the lenses but nothing that obstructs my view.

I used to never wear shades but since I started its like losing your virginity, once you start you can't stop.

true...true. Plus, it really does protect your eyes from sun damage. If you wear shades for most of your life, you can avoid a lot of problems in your dottage.

Yeah, you're right about that Yukon. Before making the poll I considered this problem of not representing the full gamut of options. At the same time, I didn't want to include every possible style, I would have had to spend too much time finding ALL the possible styles available for purchase. So, I went to wikipedia to see what they listed under the word "sunglasses."

I think many polls are always going to be problematic in that regard....but, I was thinking about it when I made the poll.

I never wear shades, and I have pretty sensitive eyes, in my head, I had this idea that they might damage your eyes somewhow,
they are nice for the fact that people don't get a glimpse of your eyes

I have a pair, they are a bit squared lol

i usually only wear them when driving

i'd prefer a nice black on black pair, less squared for the streets

Hey Rabbit,

Regarding eye health....the damaging sun rays can seriously damage your eyes just like they do to your skin. And, just like the skin, certain eye colors are more susceptible to damage than others. Blue eyes are more sensitive to damage than brown, for instance.

The only way sunglasses can cause harm is if the manufacturer uses lens material that doesn't have the proper sun-ray filtering coatings on them. If that happens, it can cause serious problems because, not only is the sunshine not filtered, but the darker lens' cause your pupil to open wider letting more of the damaging rays inside.

Luckily, that hardly ever happens now-a-days. The coatings that they apply to the lens material is SO inexpensive that there is no reason to skip that in the quest for profit. Consumer Reports did a study quite a few years ago and found that the cheapest of the cheap sunglasses all filtered the sunrays fine.

So, sunglasses are going to improve your eye health, and will be especially noticeable in your old age, because sun damage is cumulative, and once you notice the damage it is too late to do anything about it.

Ya gotta wear shades...if you want a bright future. :)

This is a sub-topic of sunglasses, but one I also feel should get some notice...the color of the lens'.

Specifically, amber and/or rose colored sunglass lens'. Only time of day I care about having amber or rose is at sunset (I don't generally see the sunrise often).

The colors of a sunset are amplified ENORMOUSLY when looked at through amber/rose shades. If you are watching the sunset blazed, you really have to try the amber or rose lens'. Fucking awesomeness.
