i could try but it probably takes another week cause i had to move the system to another room due to massive water leaks!

thanks for the responses - update i think tomorrow

i have looked ( but not read every word) for details about height, wide ( diameter from plants to plants) and wattage but havent found much although i might have over looked it

the headlines say its 800 watt but so far from what ive read its 250 watt?

reason for this is that i might do something somewhat similar but with 400 x 2 or 3 for each "tube"
what im very interested in is the diameter
lets say i decide to go for 1m in diameter
then im afraid they will get stretchy as hell to begin with as theres roughly 45 cm from the bulb to the small plants to begin with, although im sure it will be sufficient later
im not going to use a cool tube but put some glossy painted white netting with 10 inches or 25 cm diameter around the bulb once they get bigger

but does it not create a lot of stretch with long distance once plants are small?

also im interested in finding the best height for a 2x400 watt system similar to yours

is aluminum a suitable material for hydroponic systems? does it corrode or harm the plants in any way?

Didnt see anyone say anything about this, but I wouldnt use it. Once the surface oxidizes it MIGHT work, but I wouldnt trust it with all the salts and such that are involved with our nutes.

The octagon sure is looking nice, its hard to imagine there being 64 plants in such a small area. This would be the perfect system to make about 2 feet taller and use the same lighting with a vertical light mover. If it wasnt for the high plant count, I'd be building one right now.

well nice to have you finaly in my thread :joint:

this is just a test run system to prove concept like alphacat said he would do and i took my 250w light and started to build a system around it so its pretty much the version 0.1 (good desicion because i learned alot already)
the diameter of the system is 80cm - actually i think its perfect but i should have flipped them maybe 3 days earlier into flower!
for my 800w system i plan on at the moment i plan to go for 120cm height and a diameter of 120cm so the plants can gain around 25cm height and there is still 35cm of space left to the lights!

the stretch in my actual system is pretty bad but i guess thats 90% genetics - growing a white widow side by side with a super skunk i knew this is going to happen but i dont think its the bulb distance because the shiva and super skunks are growing so healthy and have very thick stems. i wouldnt worry to much about the stretch because even if they would (and i say the plants wont stretch so bad) they would keep on growing towards the bulb and so the more stretch the less distance and somewhen they get the right distance. and 45cm for 400w are just about right - 60cm should be fine as well i mean planting the clones in the system they need some distance and after picking up growth they'll be around 10cm tall and by then there is a distance of 50cm ... what im more concerned about is that the plants keep growing straight up and not towards the light but i think the solution for this problem could be a defined airflow from top to bottom so they have to grow on the one hand against gravity but also fight against the airflow pushing them down (that would also help controling the growing enviroment and the very high humidity rate im at the moment kind of worried about) - but further more im going to lower the plant sides around 15cm so the plants actually can grow upwards! and another thing im thinking about is running the whole thing aero but thats another point: i think the plant last in the feeding line (the lower ones) dont get enough nutrients - its more of a feeling than a real fact but since aero is much more efficiant anyways im gonna tray that

i considered as well not using cooltubes but now after ive seen what it can do for me im willing to have less light for the advantage of using cooltubes!

Didnt see anyone say anything about this, but I wouldnt use it. Once the surface oxidizes it MIGHT work, but I wouldnt trust it with all the salts and such that are involved with our nutes.

yeah thats what i fear as well that the aluminum is going to oxidize and starts to bug around ... but aluminum oxidizes pretty much instantly

you dont have to use 64 plants - i think 32 with maybe 9 days of veg would do the job too ( i kind of overdid it i have to admit:nanana:)

the plants are looking kind of the same accept of the fact that they finally start to flower ...

Mr Jones,

Have you considered putting a screen in for your next run? Even if you don't scrog, it will help you control the plants better, as well as position them in front of the light. If you set up the screen corrrectly, you shoudl still be able to move your sections in and out, which in my opinion, is one of the biggest benefits to your setup.

o yes thanks - thats what im going to do too! it would defenitly help alot and if the plants put on weight they still could handle it!
just forgot to write it down :nanana:

so some small ''update'' (not so much) to keep ppl interessted:nanana:

since i had to move the system twice i made two very cool shots which i want to show you (they kinda give a clue how it actually looks) they are about 5 days old:

hope you like them!

the plants are taking off now - shiva skunk is already producing weight but the chronic seems to take a lil longer ...

@MCsqrd: im gonna take pics for you soon (if not remind me)
@EllieGrows: i hope this keeps you interessted
@MasterGrower: o they did already - had to trim a lot but now it seems to be alright!

one problem i got is humidity which is around 75% and i want to lower it to at least 50% - what can i do??

M

MasterGrower

More extraction, More intake and from what I can see you need some Internal Circulation of the air, like an oscillating fan.

I would recommend at least internal air circulation to avoid your buds rotting.

I grow in a tent and when i started the walls were wet and some buds mouldy. I upped my extration and put in a 16" Oscillating fan....no more wet walls or mouldy bud. I would imagine this is the same for your vert grow.

I'm w/ MasterGrower one this.
Got to extract w/ a good rule of thumb being 2x passive intake to output area. Another thing to keep in mind is the RH of the intake air. The lower the humidity of incoming the better. i.e. If you are in a basement, it would probably be better to get your air as direct as possible from the outside.

I do like them. Keep the updates coming -- always look forward to them.
