Our Stickies are getting bigger than our forum page. I'm trying to clean them up a little by combining similar threads and putting links to them under a single Sticky.
Your input, suggestions and complaints are welcomed.

how about one sticky section for threads that are beginner based, like your "organics for beginners" thread. maybe a few new threads on how the soil food web works, nutrient cycling, stuff like that all grouped together.

Start those threads you suggested or give me a link and I'll put it together. I was thinking the same thing about the primary threads. I've got some ideas. When I get finished, tell me what you think.

Yes it looks much better. My whole screen would be filled with stickeys before I would see anything else.

A thought: I wrote an Organics FAQ, long long ago, that had a main page with links to posts in the thread.

Perhaps a directory based listings page as a sticky and then let the threads loose.

Such as:

A

Aardvark compost
...
...

B

Beginners thread

...
...

and so on..

Such that, If I want to look up Cloning in soil blocks then I could find that.
Folks could submit potential threads and or posts in a sticky thread which we can delete posts from as we need to.
It's work for sure.. Referencing data in this forum.. But it may increase Signal to Noise ratio.

Just a suggestion and perhaps we can get many volunteers to accomplish the manual labor.

Thought to offer an Idea..

Yep..

More important is to gather information on Organic soil from the 4 corners of the earth.

-I feel glad you condensed the stickies, I hated scrolling half way down the page to get to the new posts. as most every post in this part is valuable information, and we can't have 200 stickies..

-someone needs to make a simple to the point tea information. there must be half the comments related to tea, and since tea is a new subject for say, there is alot of mis-information floating around about air pumps, food, compost, sprayers... but microbe man and CT can clear this up as they are some of the most knowledge in that area..

-a sticky on what is not organic so people stop saying fox farm this and fox farm that around here, yes there is conflict on what is organic or not, but chemicals are far from the point were trying to achieve here.. along the lines of seaweed / alfalfa ..

-to me what would help is simple to the point one line sentences in stickies / posts
A. people learn through simplicity
B. people don't have alot of time
C. the more complicated, the harder it is to understand

there seems to be 3 types in here : beginners who know nothing , people who know some stuff about organics, and there are "masters" like jay and clakamas and so on.. so seems to me if possible to make a setup where beginners can be beginners, pros can be pros and so on, maybe hard to explain but there is a diverse group in here as to there knowledge level

I say thanks to you guys, as I have learned more then I can say thanks for, good luck with whatever direction you take, as I can see it's a tough task.

How about we have these catagories in the STICKY section?

Beginner Organic Soil Discussions

Intermediate Organic Soil Discussions

Advanced Organic Soil Discussions

Now help me decide which threads to put under each category.

Another thing to notice is when someone posts in the "SUB STICKIES", the thread bumps to the top of the main forum.

I will take care of Compost teas and soil recycling for the beginners. JK is helping and I will include ctguy and Microman. But the input from us will come first.

what about someone making an article on microbes and all things in the soil, basically a condensed version of the book, teaming with microbes, it's bascially the workhorse of "organics" but we have no article on them

also I was looking though and I think half the stickies are kinda pointless in my opinion, the show me the buds has nothing to do with organic soil really, and the 3 little birds I have to say are kinda not that helpful, except recycling soil one, the molasses one can be summed up saying, microbes like sugar so feed them blackstrap molasses, its very long and could be summed up saying that. also there are a couple others but I cant see the stickies so ... also the EJ sticky is very pointless, I gathered nothing from that, a bottle is a bottle nute add 1-5ml and then be done... the dolomite one is good if it's cleaned up and to the point, basically what I got was wait 6 months to fully have the benefit of dolomite lime. I agree from another topic of having the stickies locked

we need stickies that are the heart of organics like : recycling soil , composting, worming, tea brewing, microbes, PH, dolomite..
